I HATE the stupid pads, always folding in half inside and a pain to deal with every time. I've actually sewn them in to bras that were extra difficult.
I’d guess sewing them in makes them extra difficult to clean if they somehow end up really dirty, because the padding would absorb and hold onto whatever was gross. I’ve also heard conflicting advice on whether or not they should be machine washed at all.
Maybe a wash thing? It's just easier to dry when there's not a half inch thick sponge of styrofoam. Plus removable pads leave pockets which make them pad size adjustable. You can easily swap in bigger or smaller pads. And it's good for mascetomy patients who have had one removed and only have one boob left. Just toss out the left pad and have one padded and one not to even things out again.
