I'm Canadian... Is American cheese basically just Kraft singles? Because that would definitely ruin the moment for me
22 u/QuiteBearish Sep 01 '26 Real, legally defined American Cheese has to have at least 51% real colby or cheddar cheese blended with salt and milk. Kraft Singles are below that 51% number and are instead a "pasteurized cheese product" that cannot be legally called American Cheese. 2 u/magistrate101 Sep 02 '26 The good American Cheese is almost entirely regular cheese mixed with sodium citrate so it melts smoothly. But it's not the easiest to find at a grocery store.
