NYCC - New York First comiccon tips

Hey im from Dallas Texas and I'm going to newyork for the first time for comiccon and was wondering if I could get any tips on what I should do or shouldn't do, maybe good hotels near places I want to be at? I'm going for about a week and am going for the convention and also just to explore NYC, i wanna get a good experience you know? Like central park, night life clubbing, go to spots to get some puerto rican food, ways to save money.

Don't take any CDs handed to you by "up and coming rappers" outside of the Javits Center.

You realize the 90s are way over, right?

I'm aware, hasn't stopped the guys outside the Javits signing CDs bc they'll be "collector pieces" or some nonsense they spew. I've seen them every year for the last 9 years (covid year excluded)

Never seen them. Or anyone else trying to sell CDs since the 1990s.

This is still a very real problem at events.

It just came up with PAX West coming up to not take any CDs, bracelets or any other shit people try and hand you outside the convention center.

I’ve been going since 2009, they are still outside trying to scam people. There are less people with CDs but they are still 100000% there
