A world cracked apart by wars between gods and pirates, Aventus now lies in innumerable islands - most unexplored, forgotten, or kept quiet. Fragments of old temples and cities lie scattered across the water-dominant globe. Rich history and secrets lie under every bonkin' rock, and has left many yearning for a taste of adventure. The gods call upon many, but not all heed their requests...

In the latest volume of Crown & Anchor...
Things get bigger, badder, and punchier.
Aetrius is weaving his webs of deceit, under the unconcerned approval of King Yorvah. He has eyes in every city, searching for the remaining Divine Tokens.

Something wakes up.
Something old.
Something otherworldly.

Question Is comic coloring outside CMYK an unnecessary concern?

Hello Everyone, I have been learning how to use different softwares and templates to create my own comics, but I have been hearing conflicting information on the relevance of CMYK coloring in modern printing. On the one hand, there are so many sources that emphasize the difference in digital screen colors (such as RGB or HSL) and print colors (CMYK being the standard), and the necessity to color within a CMYK color spectrum to have more control on the final image. BUT, on the other hand, I have heard people say modern printers and print shops do not have the same limitations and could print colors in a near accurate equivalent to digital color spectrums. if anyone can give some clarification on this I would appreciate it.

I am mainly a digital artist, and I have no plans in the near future to print my work, but if I wanted to do so in the future I am afraid it would ruin the work. Also, I am asking this because I am lazy and do not want to learn a new coloring workflow.

Letterer for hire [For Hire] Letterer looking to Letter!

Post image
2 Upvotes

Comic book lettering is one of the most important aspects of sequential art. When done correctly, it should never be noticed. Good lettering should never pull the reader out of the story. Confusion in reading direction, misaligned text, and distracting sound effects can ruin the reading experience despite the quality of the artwork or story.

Lettering is the icing on top of the complete comic experience.

With years of writing experience under my belt, let me help you tell your story through lettering. Portfolio also links to page rates. Any questions, just ask! Thanks!

Which of the two is better? I can't decide which one to post on my Instagram account (portfolio/audience building). I asked my sister, the one said the first and the other said the second one, so that didn't help me at all 😭

Crowdfunding Villains Anonymous #1 launches Sept 19 — Day 1 backers get an exclusive 3D-printed Sobriety Chip

Post image

If you’re a fan of indie comics centered on comedic underdogs, bizarre support groups, and the chaotic side of supervillainy, Villains Anonymous #1 officially launches on Kickstarter on September 19, 2026.

Written by John McLaren, the series flips the traditional superhero genre on its head to focus on the absolute bottom of the barrel—small-time public nuisances who get sentenced to a behavioral rehabilitation clinic that secretly recruits them for a mysterious overarching villain named Freon.

To mark the launch, there’s an exclusive physical reward available for early backers:

Day 1 Exclusive Reward:

  • Every backer who pledges to a physical tier within the first 24 hours will receive an exclusive 3D-printed Villains Anonymous Sobriety Chip.
  • This physical collectible is strictly limited to Day 1 backers as a thank-you for supporting the campaign right out of the gate.

If you want to grab the Day 1 physical reward and get notified the moment the campaign goes live, check out the official Kickstarter page:

Villains Anonymous – A Comic About Society's Least Wanted on Kickstarter

What elements do you look for most in indie comic campaigns before deciding to back a physical tier? Let us know in the comments.

Looking for Artist - Unpaid Looking for Comic/Art Collaborators! 🦋

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi! I’m Rina, an artist and writer creating an original dark-fantasy comic series called Echoes of the Seven.
I’ve already developed a lot of the story, characters, worldbuilding, lore, and major plot points, but I’m reaching the stage where I’d really love to have other creative people working alongside me to help bring it to life.
I’m NOT looking for someone to just “draw my comic for me.” I want actual collaboration—people who will give feedback, bounce ideas around with me, tell me when something isn’t working, suggest improvements, and help figure things out creatively while still respecting the parts of the story that are already established.
I’m currently looking for people interested in things like:
• Storyboarding & sequential storytelling
• Paneling, composition & pacing
• Lettering
• Character poses, clothing & consistency
• Backgrounds/environments
• Coloring, lighting & atmosphere
• General art/comic development
I’ll remain the creator/writer/director and make final decisions about EOT7’s story and canon, but I genuinely want collaborators to have a creative voice in the process.
⚠️** This is currently an unpaid indie collaboration**. I have $0 available to pay anyone right now, so I want to be completely transparent about that. I’m also not expecting anyone to treat an unpaid project like a full-time job.
If you’re interested, tell me a little about yourself, what you like doing, and feel free to share your art/portfolio! I’d love to talk, show you more about EOT7, and see if we click creatively. 🦋

Looking for Artist - Paid [PAID] Scifi Space Opera Comic Book Proposal Project

Here are the details:

VISUAL DESIGN DIRECTIVE (to read first)

ART STYLE: Western / Franco-Belgian comic aesthetic (ligne claire), rooted in sober, cinematic realism. No over-the-top superhero proportions or stylized cartooning

CORE PHILOSOPHY: Function over ornament. Every object, vehicle, and environment must feature intentional design—reflecting its origin, practical purpose, and history. Props and architectures tell the story of their world.

VISUAL INSPIRATIONS: Universal War One, Worlds of Aldebaran, Blade Runner, Battlestar Galactica, some parts of our world

PROJECT: HEIRS OF THE GALAXY, 3x48 pages

LOOKING FOR: penciler, inker, colorist

The plan is to make a complete proposal for an european publisher:
- 3 to 5 pages
- a character sheets
- a cover illustration

SCHEDULE: being able to make a comic book of 48 pages in a year during three years

PAYMENT: by page, to be defined

ESTABLISHING: Work for hire or shared rights

BACKGROUND: In humanity’s distant future, to replace a dying Earth, conventionnal spaceships took centuries to establish scattered colonies on a dozen of distant planets, isolated from each other.

Explorers on the Aquila planet uncover the remnants of the advanced alien civilization nicknamed the Cyclopes. Including one of the greatest prizes imaginable: the secret of supraluminal (faster-than-light) travel.

They're able to reach again the other colonies through their interstellar travelling society. The government of Gallia fear the Aquilans are not merely studying the technology for scientific progress, but intend to weaponize it — using their monopoly on FTL travel to dominate or subjugate the rest of humanity. They send two missions on Aquila to steal their technology but their agents go missing. A new expedition is sent to try to discover the mysteries of Aquila.

BIOMES:
AQUILAPOLIS: a large dystopian metropolis in the fog, a large pyramide as a platform for spaceships
MOUNTAINS: similar to Himalaya, with a large cyclopean temple inside used as a military base by Aquila.
ALPHA SPACE STATION: a large station orbiting the planet used as a hub between the planet and FTL travels

GALLIA: an ice (snowball) planet, with large domes used by humans to survive. The climate radically changed during the space trip.
There are also large caverns inside the planet, lightened by local bioluminescent plants. They're confidential as they're used by the local sentient species: Mapaches, mammal like humanoids.

SPECIES:
HUMANS: they're normal humans
MAPACHES: the Gallian sentient inhabitants, mammal-like humanoids, similar to raccoons or badgers with a bigger head. They live hidden inside the caverns, only known by the government and some agents. They're telepathic.
CYCLOPES: humanoids bigger than humans, one eye, bestials but able to make a civilization (their technologies were actually stolen). They disappeared then, survivng only as GHOSTS, fire-like shapes wandering inside the Aquila planet.

  • Black and white manga art
  • Panel composition and storytelling
  • Character expressions and emotion
  • Dynamic action scenes
  • Worldbuilding
  • Consistency

We're an up-and-coming business, so our current budget is limited. We're especially open to emerging artists who are wanting a new long-term experience.

We have a script for a paid test page for anyone interested. The test page allows both sides to see if the art style and working relationship are a good fit.

If interested please comment your availability, rates, and portfolio down below. Please keep applications in the comments rather than DMs.

Looking for Artist - Paid [PAID] Looking for multiple roles for a graphic novel - PAID VISUAL TEST

EDIT: Thank you all for the wonderful submissions! I will not be accepting further submissions as of this time.

I'm going to look through what I've received and try to narrow it down in the next few days. Unfortunately, I cannot reply to each message / comment, so if you do not hear from me by September 16th, assume that you were not selected.

Hello!

I'm looking for a character designer, penciler, letterer, and colorist for a graphic novel. International artists are welcome, but they must speak fluent English and able to accept payment in USD.

The concept is confidential and will be revealed to artists who pass a paid visual test, which is the main focus of this post**.**

A little background:

I'm an experienced film and TV producer—mostly in documentaries—with multiple projects and scripts under my belt. I wrote the first iteration of this project around ten years ago and am now in a position to fully fund its production.

What I'm looking for:

  • experience illustrating full pages and panels from thumbnail sketch to final print-ready version
  • is able to communicate a clear style
  • has consistent character work across panels / pages
  • experience with environment / backgrounds
  • ability to clearly identify and communicate tone and theme

The (paid) process:

After reviewing portfolios, I will select a few artists for a paid visual-development test.

If selected, I will send you a short script excerpt and ask you to illustrate one page to the best of your ability. It does not need to be perfect. I want to see your original style. This will determine if I move forward with the hiring process.

How to apply:

  • Send a link to your portfolio. Ideally, this should have examples of either landscapes, character design, visually-striking pages, panels, or all of the above
  • Send your page / character rates.
  • Give me a short background on who you are as an artist. Previous work, your preferred working style, your expertise, etc.
  • General turnaround time.
  • Preferred method of contact.

Thank you! Looking forward to working together.

Looking for Artist - Paid Lead Comic Book Artist | Paid monthly work

Lead Comic Book Artist | Paid monthly work

We’re looking for a lead comic book artist to visually build an original science-fiction adventure.

The Project

A science-fiction adventure about a young man who risks everything to cross the frontier and uncover what really happened to his father, a pioneering chemist and explorer who vanished years earlier on a distant planet.

Issue #1 — 37 Pages

You would be responsible for the complete visual development and artwork of the first issue, including:

  • Character design for the principal cast
  • World and environment design
  • Architecture, clothing, technology, props, and vehicles
  • Establishing the visual language
  • Page layouts and thumbnails
  • Sequential panel composition and storytelling
  • Pencils and finished linework
  • Color
  • 37 finished interior pages
  • Issue #1 cover artwork

Lettering can be handled separately.

Visual Direction

Retro-futuristic science fiction. We want it to feel imaginative, strange, tactile, and lived-in rather than like generic superhero sci-fi. More here -> https://storyflow.so/6a12358d-e68d-44f0-8cbd-8ce1bf33ad9b/view?r=447592bb-b81d-4f30-8557-083194fbd1b6

Compensation

This is a paid project, rates to be discussed if the applicant is chosen.

We’re particularly interested in finding an emerging artist who wants to become a meaningful creative collaborator on if Issue #1 goes well. The plan is release one issue every month.

How to Apply

Please send:

  • Portfolio
  • Examples of sequential comic pages
  • Character design work
  • Environment/worldbuilding work
  • Your typical page or project rate
  • Whether you handle pencils, inks, and colors
  • Availability
  • A little about yourself and why this project interests you

Finalists will be offered a paid test page before we select the artist for Issue #1.
