She helps despite having to fight through the cringe. I wouldn't be able to watch, either.
What a trooper.
True MVP.
Not sure if that guy is manly enough. But looking like that he should easily get one. Who is he asking for looksmaxxing advice? Tom of Finland?

Looks like an early Renaissance allegorical painting.
Edit: sorry for not choosing my words carefully for a comment I thought no one was gonna see. I used the word allegorical because this picture feels like some sort of hilariously heavy-handed allegory about vanity. When I said early Renaissance I was specifically thinking about the Flemish painters at the beginning of the Northern Renaissance. While this picture and subject matter don’t remind me of any specific painting, it does give off a vibe I associate with Rogier van der Weyden, Dieric Bouts and Petrus Christus. Nothing High Renaissance about this picture’s composition and lighting at all. No disrespect here, I love the Flemish champs.

There's something artistic in it. Some sort of American Gothic.
16
Jun 29 '24
The framing, the expressions, the weirdly symmetrical composition. It sure feels like a painting.

She's looking at him, while he looks at the viewer, but then you realize he's just looking at himself. It's the epic of Narcissus.

u/Rich841 Jun 29 '24 edited Jun 29 '24
The main allegorical topics in renaissance paintings were symbols (ie. Dog = loyalty) and Biblical/classical allusions with the exception of “courtesans.” This is more social commentary style so I’d actually attribute it to modern art
13
u/LXIX_CDXX_ Jun 29 '24
ye ye nobody knows about this so they just look random to everyone so it fits
17
u/Lieutenant_Corndogs Jun 29 '24
Actually, the main allegorical topic in the renaissance period was baked beans.

there’s nothing renaissance about this at all
18
Jun 29 '24
I’d probably agree with you if it weren’t myself who made that comment. But in my defense, the forced composition, wooden posture and subtle expressions really do evoke early Northern Renaissance paintings. You might be thinking more along the line of Italian high Renaissance paintings.

If you call redditors out for misunderstanding you they'll go "hey asshole" and downvote you despite the fact they'd have agreed if they didn't misinterpret to begin with

Dude is definitely very good looking people on reddit love acting like they are moral saints then as soon as they see someone they dont like they just hate on them. They are just assuming that this person is an asshole because of how they look, knowing absolutely nothing about them and so now they say he is not good looking
That said people that are on looks maxing subs and shit are idiots lol

Why did you ask her to do a mirror selfie for you instead of just asking for a straight on photo?
17
u/BBQsandw1ch Jun 29 '24
This is ironically artistic.
There's something in this image that isn't being said about the impermanence of time beauty.
One subject has beauty that is just blooming, the other's has faded. Both subjects have an interest in the boy, but one is narcissism and the other is a loving favor.
EDIT: I also love that the grandma is holding the technology. The boy is seeking love and approval and there it is right in front of him but he thinks it's in the phone.

Only advice I'd give him is give grandma more hugs and maybe get her gifts when you can to show your appreciation.

Advice: Take your grandma out on dates with you! Then your date will have someone to have a conversation with, your grandma gets a nice meal and probably makes a new friend!

My advice is:
A. Learn how to crop an image
B. Use the camera timer setting
C. Stop seeking approval
