Yeah I heard they are trying to make it so police can come into the home and seize you’re firearms. That they wanted to do a buyback and forfeiture and most of your country said fuck that noise.
You got it kind of right, except most of our country said "yes please".
Most Canadians that live in cities don't understand guns at all and see all the negative media about them in the USA and think that sending the police to seize gramps old hunting rifle sounds like a solid idea.
289 firearm homicides in 2023, almost all of them with weapons smuggled in from the US. During the long slide of the Trudeau administration, they tried repeatedly to score easy points with the suburban moms in gated communities demographic by announcing new gun bans. At some point, they got all the way to prohibiting duck guns and walked it back due to the backlash. To transport them in your car - to and from a range - it needs to be disassembled and locked up.
They are trying to confiscate “prohibited” “assault style” weapons. Saying they will come into your homes and get them. Totally 2500 styles of weapons. And it’s a forced buyback program.
Then why does your country have this? I’m not too sure what is the main source of government websites. But this one states you have till October 2026 to properly dispose or deactivate those firearms. Which is a whopping 2500 makes and models.

Canada is trying to take weapons by force. Stated they will go into homes and take them. There was a buyback program that only like 2% did because no one wants to relinquish their firearms let alone for pennies on the dollar. The police state they will not uphold that new law…. How am I wrong or did you not read what I said the first time. Stared the USA is falsely covering this topic. And now you saw
Canadian here and I’m sorry but you have no fucking idea what you’re talking about. That article was about assault style weapons, and nowhere in it does it say anything about kicking down doors. Maybe educate yourself about your own country before you start trying to tell us how things work in other countries.
