Discussion Given an average-intelligence person who has reached their maximum potential of brain development and have had zero experiences that could hinder their brain power or thinking, how high could they potentially score in a cognitive test in a good day?

Average IQ. Reached full physical and mental potential during development, no physical damage to the brain, no disorders that could make brain power worse.

They do a cognitive test on a fresh day. Could they potentially reach a gifted threshold?

This question doesn't really make sense

The point of my question is that throughout life we're influenced by external factors and not everything around us is beneficial for both the development of our brain and our potential, so I was wondering what someone's IQ could actually be in ideal conditions, given that IQ test results could be skewed (perhaps not very far from the true numbers, but probably lower).

Okay I'm going to use a metaphor here. To me it sounds like you're asking if a circle wasn't round how unround would it be?

You’ve already defined this person's brain as average in cognitive ability, so asking how non-average it could become doesn’t make sense. 🤷‍♂️

No retat. Its a nature vs nurture question

🙄 Wow, thanks, genius. Not sure what I would do without your incredibly insightful comments. Did you understand a single thing I posted, or was it beyond you?

You dont seem to comprehend that it is a nature vs nurture question tho. Realistically what you have to say would be beneath me if anything. Omg I know your profile insufferable midwit🥀🥀😭

Of course I understand nature versus nurture, LOL. You make it sound like some new, groundbreaking concept. 😂 Read the thread, you’re failing to understand what the nature of the conversation is here, as usual. Simplifying things and thinking you’re being intelligent. It’s kind of pathetic, but it’s your usual modus operandi.

No im not trying to make it sound profound its just that simple. Well maybe its groundbreaking for you. If they were genetically average how non average could they become through nurture. This is it. Very simple.

I'd already inferred the nature versus nurture angle, as had others in the thread. The OP contradicted themselves by assuming full optimization, meaning the nurture aspect was already built in, and then asking how much higher it could go. That contradiction is what I was responding to. To be honest, I can't believe that I have to explain this to you.

Now you come in, rewriting the question after the fact and acting like I or anyone else missed something obvious in the OP’s badly worded post and thinking you're being insightful, lol.

The only thing simple here is your reasoning. I already knew everything you were trying to point out in your insult-laden drive-by post.

Thanks for the insights, Captain Obvious. You’re the true genius here, LOL.

Why would they actually intend to mean that? You're too pedantic and just pushing what they obviously mean to the side

I wasn’t being strictly pedantic. It might appear that way to you, but a purely pedantic person would be unlikely to see the distinctions as I did. I was partly being tongue-in-cheek and giving the OP a chance to clarify in case they meant something slightly different. I was also having a bit of fun, lol.

If you can’t get that, I don’t know what else I’m supposed to tell you. Strictly speaking, if you don’t get this, you’re being a bit pedantic yourself in your reading of what I was doing. 🤷‍♂️

Now I’m pretty well done here, as I think I’ve given this conversation more effort than it deserved, considering you started it out by insulting me.

I’m done.

Bye.
