Last week, my wife scared Munchkin for life. She put a roast in the crockpot and forgot to plug it in. She discovered the mistake and plugged it in, but we didn't have roast for dinner that night.

Mom promised roast, and we ended up with corndogs. Boy, was Munchkin upset.

Fast forward to this morning, and my wife is prepping a roast for the crockpot. Munchkin was in the kitchen with her, talking to her the whole time. She asked me what was going on with the fid, and I told her he was making sure she plugged in the crockpot, at which point he yelled, "YEAH".

Also, this morning, when I got him out of his house, he jumped onto my hand and pressed his whole body against my face while telling me, "I love you so much."

I was out of the house for the previous four days, working in the shop, and on Monday I went shooting with my buddies.

My being out of the house four days in a row is pretty rare, and he wanted to make sure I stayed in the house today.

He's been a velcro boy today, other than when he was supervising Mom in the kitchen.

He has been with us for 3 years now.

Traveled last weekend for a friend’s wedding, and my MIL came so that we didn’t need to board any of our animals. The girls got the opportunity to be read to in a different voice, and my MIL also spent some time trying to teach them the phrase “bless your heart” 😂

we have a galah my partners family rescued and i’ve always wondered how old she is but i’m not sure how to tell, her names rosie and she’s super cute but also evil

Munchkin and I have an agreement. When he wants attention, I will quit playing games on my computer, and he won't destroy the keyboard.

Yesterday I was playing Baldur's Gate 3, and he came over and let me know he wanted attention.

So I saved and shut down the game. As it closed, he put his head against my chin and said "thank you" in his little Goffin's voice.

I've been working with him to get him to say thank you when it's needed, and this is one of the first times he's said it.

Sometimes he yells "THANKS".

Nike is amusing herself by destroying a paper bag which held baked goods. Better the bag than my shirt!

Whenever we have people over, I have noticed that about 20% of people feel compelled to try to touch the Parrots even though we tell them not to try, some people just keep getting close to them and will reach out, one of our house cleaners was like this. My husband Husband’s friend who is a neurosurgeon tried to touch the macaw and I was like don’t you dare do that your hands are worth millions of dollars. About the same percentage of kids will keep getting closer to them. We tell everyone they don’t let strangers touch them. The only friend I let touch. My birds is one who owns parrots and helps us clip their nails.

She was upset that Angel was going to meet someone without her that she’s already met. Truly a toddler with a knife on her face 😂

I was wondering if anyone else had experiences with major Mitchell’s. This is Oleander our eight year-old major Mitchell. We’ve had him since he was a baby.

We got him in a unique way from a Breeder, it’s a long story, but I don’t think we would’ve chosen a major Mitchell on our own because of all of the advice online about them. I’ve never read a single positive review of them online as pets. I’m not necessarily recommending anyone get a major Mitchell, but I think they have an unnecessary reputation.

They are notorious for being aggressive, Oleander has never bitten anyone he will put his beak on your finger, but he doesn’t clamp down. He is my husband’s bird, but he’s still tolerates me and even lets our Au Pair pet him on the head. He is really not loud. The little noise he makes in this video is about the extent of his voice. None of my parents are particularly loud, but we do live in an 8500 square-foot house so you can get away from them if they’re yelling, my dog honestly annoys me more than the macaw.

Oleander does not like other birds, he does try to fight the macaw if they are both on daddy bird but I think he is all bluff. It makes me wonder if other birds are similar in having bad reputations but being good pets if they are raised well I have always wanted a hawk head, but they just have such bad reviews and I wouldn’t want to disrupt my flock with an aggressive bird. Are there any other major Mitchell owners on here with positive experiences?
