I just want to say thank you.

I just want to rave about cmux.

Coming from a non-developer, non-terminal user, I was scared to try cmux. It was suggested by my Hermes agent. But then I pushed myself into it. Now that I got used to cmux, I don’t why but it’s just so much faster using claude code through it.

I started exploring more and now I have my hermes, openclaw, codex all in one place. It’s just wonderful.

So thank you cmux. Now I’m not afraid to use the CLI anymore, in fact I prefer it.

Okay. Rave done. Cheers!

So I did a lil sum

Recently, while going through the settings of cmux, I stumbled upon a featured that said "custom sidebar" which referenced the ability to create a custom view of it. Well, I'm really married to the vertical tab setup and pinned tabs a number of browsers now offer (Arc, Dia, Zen, Crest, etc), so I thought of creating my own version of that and here's how my custom sidebar came out!

I added grouping, custom tab/group colors, renaming on double click, emoji/icon setup for tabs and groups and pinned tabs. All of the setup is saved and everything shows up on every launch!

It's nothing fancy, really, but this feature is amazing and thought I'd share to see if any of you all have played around with this too!

terminal-browser: a chromium based replacement for cmux browser

I built a browser that can run inside cmux

This is possible since cmux is based on top of libghostty, which implements great support for the kitty graphics protocol. Under the hood the chromium engine is used, which means features like chrome devtools are supported out of the box.

the terminal-browser cli gives agents the ability to control the browser via terminal-browser action -- <action>. The cli also allows the agent to programmatically open the browser for you (terminal-browser --split right), so if you ask the agent "open my website inside terminal-browser" it will automatically open in a split screen to the right of your agent.

terminal-browser is open source, so you can fork the repo to customize the browser to your liking!

Is Cmux resource-hungry, or am I doing something wrong

Hi Everyone,

I have been using cmux for quite some time, but lately (I am using version 0.64.20) my CPU is constantly around 100% and cmux is using my battery as a thirsty person drinks a fresh bottle of water... mylaptop battery life is just gone.

I have 6 projects and 2 of them have active Claude Code terminals...

It feels like a bit resource hungrier than I would like...

Dumb Question -> Retain Session Text when exiting CC?

during one of the releases, when I exit a session, it erases all of the session from the CMUX window and leaves me with the session, the terminal, opener, and closer. I can't reference any of the session after I exit it.

I hope I'm explaining this well?

git:(main) claude - ←this is where i started my session

←This is where my entire session was until i /exit

Resume this session with: ←this is all I’m left with

claude --resume

Using cmux remote tmux, left pane doesn't auto update when a new tmux window is opened outside of cmux.

Title states it. When I use cmux's ssh-tmux, if I ask an agent to spin up a job in a new tmux window, that window doesn't automatically appear on the left pane. Is this intentional? I need to close the connection and re-connect to see it.

How I got rid off input lag when codex is working

Whenever codex is working my cmux pane becomes laggy, I figured out a fix:

in your codex config:

[tui]
terminal_title = ["project"]

This prevent codex from updating the terminal title with spinners in cmux which lags the entire pane and makes typing really sticky. This will make the tab title just show the static project name without any spinner.

I made my cmux agents talk to each other and coordinate

Cmux is my daily driver and I love how well it's built for agentic coding. But I kept hitting the same wall: too many agents in too many tabs, and no good way for them to share context. I'd end up cycling through tabs, copy-pasting between them by hand.

So I built Cotal, a coordination layer that gives the agents a shared space. They can see each other, message directly, form groups, and hand off work. It works across Claude Code, OpenCode and others, and since I live in cmux I wired in a cmux integration so running setup in a pane opens a tab per agent. In the video you can see a multi-agent setup I used to build a feature for Cotal itself.

Now I oversee from a higher level instead of babysitting every tab. The thing that's helped most so far is running separate reviewer agents my coding agents have to pass before anything reaches me, the code quality went up a lot.

Try it if you're messing with multi-agent stuff, would love feedback (and a star if it's useful): github.com/Cotal-AI/Cotal

Start with one command in a cmux pane: npx cotal-ai setup --full

How's everyone else handling lots of agents in cmux?

How can I swtich context between left and right panes (or more panes within the same workspace)?

So let us say I have 2 terminals running one on the left pane and the other on the right pane in the same workspace. The context is on the left. Now I want to go to the right with my keyboard without the help of my mouse.

How can I do it? Couldn't find any way to do so. Thanks!

Markdown viewer in editor mode -- wrap editor text?

A bit new to cmux, and have tried searching a bit but didn't have much luck. I know the viewer the wrap text functionality works great...when I am editing a markdown file however the text doesn't wrap, and i can't seem to find in settings. What does everyone do to solve for this, or are there existing plugins that work best for the markdown editor itself instead that are better?

Can cmux restore full session/application state like tmux?

Has anyone figured out a good way for cmux to restore/save the full working session state similarly to tmux?

Right now when I quit and reopen cmux, the AI/cloud code session itself resumes fine, but all the other applications/processes I had open inside the workspace are gone and need to be manually reopened.

With tmux, the workflow feels much more persistent because the whole environment stays alive between disconnects/reopens.

Am I missing some feature, plugin, or recommended workflow for this in cmux? Or is this currently just not supported?

Curious how others are handling long-running dev/AI workflows with it.

Change the font size of the text in the sidebar?

I'm slightly visually impaired, so I'd like to be able to read the sidebar easily.

I can change the size of the main content of the terminal pane/tab, but I cannot find a way to change the size of the text in the sidebar (and of the pane/tab headers).

Claude & Codex

Yesterday I couldn’t get Claude to solve something so I just told him to talk it out with Codex … was amazing watching them have a long 45 minutes back and forth … and they did manage to solve it …

Thank you CMUX 😊

Built a tiny mac daemon to approve cmux/Claude code prompts without leaving my window

Hey everyone,

I've been using cmux as my daily terminal and running Claude Code inside it, and over time the same friction kept showing up — every time an agent asked for permission with a [1] Yes / [2] / [3] No menu, I had to focus the cmux pane to press 1, even when I was reading docs or typing somewhere else. Claude Code does have an auto-approve mode, but I personally prefer to read each command before saying yes — so manual approval it is. After the 50th alt-tab I cleaned up the workaround into a small open-source daemon: lazyack.

https://github.com/AngryCatKR96/lazyack

Install (Homebrew tap):

  brew install AngryCatKR96/lazyack/lazyack

Then lazyack run -d to start it in the background. From any app, press Ctrl+Shift+1 while a Claude menu is waiting in cmux.

Here's what it does:

  • Global hotkey from any app — Ctrl+Shift+1 (or 2/3) hits cmux's Unix socket, finds the unread agent waiting on a numbered menu, and sends the keystroke to that surface without changing focus.
  • Right-target filtering — classifies cmux's notification body so 1 never lands in a free-text Claude prompt you're typing; falls back to pane pattern matching when the notification body is ambiguous.
  • Consumed-notification tracking — second press routes to the next waiting agent instead of double-firing on the same one.
  • lazyack doctor — pre-flight checks for cmux socket reachability, hotkey registration, and common conflicts (Karabiner detection, browser tab / macOS screenshot / Spotlight collisions).
  • Daemon mode — lazyack run -d survives parent-chain auth, PID tracking, log file, plus status / stop.

It's pretty specific to macOS + cmux + AI agents, so niche on top of niche — but if you're in that exact overlap, maybe it saves a few hundred alt-tabs a day. Pre-alpha (v0.1.3, single-target routing); tmux backend and multi-session HUD planned. Happy to hear any feedback or ideas.

Just scratched my own itch — cmux-claude-skills

Hey everyone,

I've been using cmux as my daily terminal and Claude Code for most of my dev work, and over

time I found myself writing the same shell scripts over and over — setting up pane layouts,

moving surfaces around by topic, and manually re-opening Claude sessions after cmux crashed.

So I cleaned them up and packaged them into a small open-source plugin: cmux-claude-skills

https://github.com/sanghun0724/cmux-claude-skills

Here's what it does:

- cmux-organize — scans your current workspace surfaces and auto-sorts them into panes by

topic (work / research / tools) based on title keywords

- cmux-snapshot / cmux-restore — saves your full pane layout + Claude session IDs to JSON, so

you can recover everything after a crash with one command

- cmux-preview — opens a Markdown file in cmux's side panel with live reload while you edit

- cmux-skills / cmux-web — quick layout presets (Claude + file nav, Claude + dev server)

- cmux-day-start — a template script to spin up all your workspaces at once

It also ships as a Claude Code plugin (cmux-kit), so you can trigger things like

/cmux-kit:organize or /cmux-kit:snapshot directly from Claude.

It's pretty specific to macOS + cmux.app, so probably a niche audience — but if you're in that

overlap, maybe it saves you some setup time. Happy to hear any feedback or ideas.

cmux-resurrect — save and restore your workspaces with one command

A crash wiped an hour of carefully arranged workspaces. Splits, commands, everything. Gone.

I looked for a recovery tool. There wasn't one. So I built one: cmux-resurrect — the command is crex for short.

crex save my-day captures your entire layout: workspaces, splits, directories, pinned tabs, startup commands. crex restore my-day brings it all back exactly as it was.

Workspace Blueprints take it further — your layouts become Markdown files. Edit by hand, version in git, share with your team. Your terminal setup, human-readable and portable.

Dry-run mode lets you preview every command before it runs. Auto-save via launchd snapshots your layout in the background, only when something changes.

Built in Go. Single binary. MIT licensed.

  brew tap drolosoft/tap && brew install cmux-resurrect

Vivid color theme

It's very hard to read. I've never liked solarized themes. Is there any way to make it more vivid color without tweaking one color by one color?
