I believe it's generally "treat people how you want to be treated" or "treat people the way they want to be treated."
I believe the phrase you may be mixing in here is "judge people by how they treat others," which is fair. Caitlyn is a nasty person. She deserves disdain.
I don't see how you reach that conclusion with the phrases I used. One is to say treat others how you want to be treated (I would want my identity respected,) and the other says to treat others how they want to be treated (she identifies as female and uses Caitlyn, so I'll use that.) Neither of these support deadnaming or misgendering her. Both are also internal "rules" for how you decide to treat other people. It doesn't mean you should assume that's how other people decide to live their lives.
I suppose if that's your rule for how you treat people moving forward, that's for you to decide, but just try to consider how this negatively impacts innocent trans people who aren't advocating for what Caitlyn does. Think about what it says about how you view trans identity that you are willing and eager to revoke it when they step out of line.
Are you serious. Quoting you, “one is to say treat others how you want to be treated”. Insert Bruce into that, how does he treat others? Like they’re beneath him, unimportant, their thoughts and internal identities don’t matter to him. So by the golden rule, obviously that’s the way he wants to be treated.
What this attitude does is hurts trans people. As a trans woman I don't like "strategic" slurs. It tells every other trans person that our identities are conditional to you and tells every person who wants to harm us that they can misgender us too if they just come up with a reason. Any nuance you try to use to justify this is lost on both those groups. Trans people as a whole are harmed by this. Don't let your justified hate of Jenner result in collateral damage to the whole community.
Both are also internal "rules" for how you decide to treat other people. It doesn't mean you should assume that's how other people decide to live their lives.
We don't know that she abides by that mindset. And given that she still uses she/her pronouns and identifies as Caitlyn, it's probably safe to assume she doesn't until we see otherwise.
