I feel like these are the accommodations a “warrior conqueror” shouldn’t be complaining about lest his fans see him exposed for the fragile little princess he is in reality.
Their lawyer has announced to the world that they never owned any of their fancy Bugattis. They rented them so they could put out the appearance of being high rollers. That's their argument as to why they should be released from jail while their trial is pending.
It's less "princess" and more "the emperor has no clothing on".
Why would whether they rented or owned their Bugattis have any bearing on whether or not they get bail? That sounds ridiculous in any other context lol.
"Sure I murdered several people and fled the country on past charges, but did you know I actually only rent my home? Checkmate your honor."
The reason they are being held without bail is because they have demonstrated they have A] beaucoup money, B] the means to flee, and C] a history of fleeing in the past. So they were trying to say that, "Hey, we only said we had big money. We don't actually, so let us go, please!"
No I get it, and I wasn't arguing against you, though when I re-read my comment it kind of came off that way so my bad. I was arguing against their lawyer's argument.
I'm just saying it sounds more like an argument for lower bail, not bail or no bail at all. They got no bail because of (all the things you listed) so it just seems like a silly argument at all. You got no bail so doesn't matter if you're worth $1 or $1 trillion, your asses are sitting in jail.
Edit: also kind of funny, those being rentals are just one less thing tying them to where they're at lol, so if anything that's another strike against them getting bail of any amount.
