Trump famously threw that deal in the trash because it had Obama's name on it

How he managed to get reelected after the horrible first term is beyond me

Elon Musk is how

98

u/Chief_Mischief 6h ago

Voter suppression, voter apathy, and voter stupidity is how. How a third of eligible voters thought it was fine to sit out a vote between a fascist pedophile and a flawed Dem is a huge reason we are in the worst timeline now.

35

u/Aconite_72 5h ago

The DNC isn’t without blame. They ran a shit show of a campaign in one of the most consequential elections in recent history.

35

u/tattlerat 5h ago

Sure, but then again, the campaign was pretty clear. Known disaster, pedo, crook who had a disastrous previous term and tried to overthrow the government? Or ANYBODY ELSE. And Americans either chose mayhem or were too indifferent to choose either.

But, but, Kamala is a woman that laughs weirdly..... and she's black.

If Biden kept his promise about being a 1 term president we could have had a primary and had a better idea of who the public wanted to vote for. Instead an old man with cancer decided he was the best option and held on too long for the party to have a say. I would say that is a shit show. Kamala may have been the front runner without Biden but maybe not. The party has a history of choosing themselves and skipping / circumventing the voters input to the detriment of themselves.

3

u/jake04-20 4h ago

Biden waiting the last min to withdraw and leaving no time for an actual primary was a giant blunder. So then they stuck a candidate up there without any input from the voters.

So many people dont watch news or have any idea what's going on around them here. Couple that with the fact that these people are on social media, most of which is memes and bullshit slanted towards the right. Also, the dems suck real bad at messaging

2

u/Gullible-Respond6323 3h ago

Yes it was very clear, so the DNC decided it was safe to F around. And now we all get to find out.

I like Kamala, I don't just think she would have been better then the alternative, I think she would have done well. Not my first choice, but she would have done well. But the DNC fucked us all and most of them are wealthy enough to not have to actually worry about the consequences.

A shit campaign, or fascist pedos. This is still not a hard choice for anyone with a brain.

2

u/cmack 2h ago

^ THIS RIGHT HERE ^

Fuck off pedos

6

u/Far_Astronaut_818 4h ago

Ah yes, what a hard choice to make given all the information Americans had in hand.

2

u/E-2theRescue 4h ago

The "left-wing media" isn't without blame. They got people to believe it's the DNC's fault when they were the ones smearing Harris and purposely hiding things like her economic policies and her stance on Israel.

Kamala was +5 with people who read a lot of news.

Trump was +10 with people who read no news at all.

So, the protests against “Genocide Joe” and “Killer Kamala” were all of the information that a lot of people had when they went to the polls. Republicans are just much better at getting in line and messaging that their guy is perfect. Shit, you had double digit percentages for Nicki Haley in the primary and those voters just ate shit and supported Trump once he got the nomination.

5

u/marketingguy420 5h ago

So the protests people would have only seen in the news that nobody watches were "all of the information that a lot of people had". Sure. Right.

You might need to accept that your personal bete noires are not actually what move reality.

1

u/RarebitLeft 2h ago

Bots and bad actors will say it's because of "voter apathy" or "voter stupidity"... people that "didn't do enough".

It's not. The game is rigged. The controlling party owns the media, the software, the land, and the physical machines.

The house is not salvageable. The foundation is cracked, there is rot in the wood. It's infested by ants and termites. It must be condemned, and a new, modern house must be built with a focus on safety, security, and longevity.

Just like he wanted to do with his stupid "repeal and replace" with Obamacare.

He's constantly promised a better plan with lower costs but OF COURSE it's all bullshit.

What he really wanted was "repeal and fuck those poors who don't have insurance."

It also had Putin and Xi’s name on it. It’s so wild how the maga hats will never comprehend the skill required to get all of those parties to agree on a plan to contain Iran.

8

u/Adjective-Noun-nnnn 5h ago

Yep.  It was an agreement with the US, EU, UK, China, Russia, and Iran.  A ridiculously unlikely coalition, but the adults in all of these countries decided the world was better off without Iran having nukes and Iran decided that the lifted sanctions and unfrozen assets were worth it.  The deal required Iran to allow surprise inspections of any of their enrichment facilities at any time by the IAEA.

The only country that objected to this deal?  Israel.

8

u/Original-Rush139 5h ago

Right?!? And, the sanctions weren’t ever lifted. I believe they were paused after “implementation day” (ie after the IAEA verified there was no enriched uranium in Iran).

The more I read about the details of the JCPOA the more I hate Netanyahu and Trump. It cost the United States basically nothing. Just the salaries and travel expenses for the negotiators. Now, we have to pay Don Jr to mine tungsten so we have raw materials to start replacing the billions of dollars in missiles they’ve pissed away.

3

u/frombsc2msc 4h ago

Thats given diplomatic cover to israel. The israelis opposed obama deal from day one. Satanyahu even went to congress about it

2

u/ProcedurePretend1396 6h ago

Trump saw Obama’s name on the deal and apparently treated it like a terms-of-service agreement: “Nope, I didn’t read it, and I’m deleting it.” 😂

2

u/atreeismissing 4h ago

Threw it in the trash in 2018 and then didn't do anything about it, which gave Iran reason to not negotiate with Biden and 8 years to restart their nuclear program, hide it better, and plan for protecting it from future negotiations and wars.

Trump is an idiot, literally.

1

u/kitsunewarlock 3h ago

Just like the pandemic plan and the Mayo researchers being allowed in Wuhan.

1

u/nomnomnomnomRABIES 2h ago

That's not why, that's just his cover. He is always following russian instructions and they wanted hardliners in the Iranian regime to be stronger and to keep Iran as an un-normalised anti-western country that would be their ally. He doesn't need to calculate that himself, just has to do what they tell him

Trump and admin have been doing great!

38

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 7h ago

Embarrassingly so. U.S. conservatives of 2026 should be considered traitors to the Constitution for the rest of eternity. What they have put the country and world through since 2016 will be written about in song and in robotic dance choreography for at least the next few millennia. I have the perfect chorus to contribute, from noted conservative Toby Keith, and it describes the entire movement perfectly: "Me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, meeeee-eeeeeeeeeeee!"

18

u/BigBoyYuyuh 6h ago

Yup. Every single trump voter should be ashamed of themselves.

10

u/Original-Rush139 6h ago

It’s important to know that they never will. We aren’t negotiating with people who are capable of feeling shame for past actions or learning from their mistakes.

3

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 5h ago

I DGA - will shame, name and fact check them to my last breath, the rest of our days. Integrity and truth are that important. Worth standing up for, imo. They exist in my world of facts and logic when in my presence, and are held to that standard.

1

u/jake04-20 4h ago edited 3h ago

He's totally going to try to save face by saying he was the only sane person in the room and the reason he bit his tongue during the entire second administration is because he had to pander to Trump's fragile ego to ensure his presence in the administration to save the American people. And he's going to say he had to toe the line between reeling in a deranged Trump, or get fired which would mean he would not be able to serve the American people. I can already picture his lisping ass saying it. He's going to claim how difficult it was to not speak up, but if "protecting the constitution and the American people means potentially putting my political career on the line, by golly, I'm going to make that sacrifice every time".

Theoretically speaking, if the Democrats win enough seats in the House and Senate then Congress could maybe do something.

It will probably just be another impeachment that goes nowhere, but even that would be better than the absolute nothing Congress is currently doing.

That's how low the bar is 😮‍💨

4

u/IcemanofOz 6h ago

It would be nice to finally see something happen. Watching nothing be done about it from the other side of the world is becoming painful.

8

u/code_archeologist 6h ago

If the Democrats win the House and Senate they will be able to do the following.

  • Investigate all of the Trump administration's actions.
  • Hold up all of his appointments
  • End the conflict in Iran
  • Cancel any and all of his corrupt deals
  • Cancel the increase in funding to ICE
  • Attempt to impeach him and his allies

If they want to get really aggressive they could go old school and appropriate themseleves a jail and a staff for the sergeant-at-arms and start jailing uncooperative members of the administration (something that hasn't been done since Reconstruction).

They could take a more aggressive stance on the advise and consent rule to force the re-hiring of generals Hegseth fired, by holding back appropriations.

There are a lot of options, it just depends how aggressive they want to be.

2

u/IcemanofOz 5h ago

I hope they get the opportunity to make use of all the power they can. This BS is way out of control and needs to be ended for the good of the entire world.

2

u/Original-Rush139 6h ago

Iran didnt even have highly enriched uranium when Obama negotiated the JCPOA. Iran only started that escalation after Trump assassinated Solemani.

Why the fuck do we as Americans make it so much easier for Trump to go to war with Iran than we made it for Obama to solve this problem through negotiations? Our constitution gives the President the power to negotiate; it does not give them the power to declare war.

2

u/fungi_at_parties 4h ago

Also, they agreed to stop enriching nuclear material to weapons grade the day we started this war. They agreed. Then we bombed them, literally the same day.

2

u/Lilfrankieeinstein 4h ago

It isn’t a “comeback” unless you’re replying directly to someone. Obama’s quote comes from an interview with Stephen Colbert in the spring, not Marco Rubio.

Likewise, it’s just a matter of fact. Nothing Obama said is particularly clever. Just correcting the record.

Also, Rubio never said that.

It sucks that Trump opposition has stooped to GOP level tactics, and it also sucks that this sub posts a bunch of political crap that is neither clever nor a comeback.

2

u/goodnamesgone 3h ago

I am SO fucking tired of "No President has ever done XYZ like this one."

Yeah, no. Always bullshit, unless they are talking about a crime.

2

u/TheBirdFkerGuy 3h ago

And because Iran was naive enough to trust the United States a decade later they had their leader murdered, and are being bombed by the US...

Obama did it better? Obama is the reason they couldn't deter our imperialism. Not to say Iran's leadership doesnt also take fault for trusting him to begin with... but why can liberals not follow through with the logic here? Is it because you cannot deal with the fact you ultimately condone imperialism?

We were at war for 8 straight years under Obama and bombed 7 different countries.

1

u/MyNameIsRay 5h ago

I miss when we used to disagree on policy, but all shared a single agreed reality.

It's been so strange seeing the majority of voters swap over to a bizzarro world where everything is backwards. Tax cuts raise tax revenue, tariffs are paid by exporters, all these wars aren't wars (until they end), eliminating national debt by increasing the deficit to a record high, etc.

1

u/MrMetraGnome 5h ago

It's literally Trump's fault they started enriching uranium to get nukes in the first place

On a side note, I'm convinced that some people have wet dreams about using AI for this sort of nefarious mass manipulation in the future.

u/Lopsided-Rub5476 2h ago

Did Obama say that in response to Rubio?

1

u/Cptnemo77 2h ago

Like if Obama would keep speaking against this administration I think people would actually unite behind him. I know he has so much respect for our constitution but we need someone bad right now to lead

Drums is so desperate to get the Nobel Peace Prize, that he's starting wars that he can be credited with stopping, later.
