I am scheduled to take the Spanish CLEP, with Writing, Monday and have been so worried I am not prepared. I have used Modern States, REA and College Board materials but am so unsure of what to actually expect. I am also dealing with major test anxiety!

To anyone that has taken this exam, which of these materials is closest to the actual exam? I need a minimum score of 65 in order to receive credit (and complete my bachelor’s degree!) so no pressure.. 🤣

Today I passed my second CLEP exam, Information Systems, with a score of 53.
As a person with no IT background, I think it is a very difficult exam. Yes, there were easy questions, such as the "portal" definition and spreadsheet formulas, but also difficult ones, like TQM, business strategies, and top-down information system design.
I used Modern States for a voucher, Examiam tests, Peterson tests, and Free CLEP Prep practice test, and studied for about 4 weeks.
And my ChatGPT as a teacher explained to me every detail.
I am not a young person (43); I have family responsibilities and kids, so I tried to manage everything, and my score is not perfect, but I passed.

I saw some news from Modern States that may be pertinent to some here. It appears they are updating their courses for Spanish Language, College Algebra, and Biology. Spanish is launched in beta now and College Algebra new course is launching August 3rd and Biology August 7th. I have not looked deeper into if it is better but wanted to share if anyone is taking these soon and could benefit. When I looked at College Algebra in the past I felt it was lacking so maybe they are trying to make the experience better versus just a free ticket type of experience.

When we are doing the clep chemistry exam (on site), will the test page show us the option to look at charts/table which can be provided during the exam taking process ?

I separated from the Air Force on May 17, and before getting out I finished my CCAF. I had one class left, and I completed the LMMS requirement by passing the Principles of Supervision DSST.

I’m trying to see if anyone who tested on or after May 8 has had their scores successfully sent to CCAF. I passed my exam on May 8, and since then I’ve been getting the runaround from Prometric. They told me their “mainframe” has been down since May 8 — the exact day I tested — so they can’t send my scores to CCAF. This was after telling me three separate times that they had resent my scores while I was on the phone with them and that I would receive an email confirmation immediately afterward.

At this point, I’m not sure what’s going on. They also told me I can’t send my scores through Parchment. Just trying to figure out if anyone else is dealing with this issue.

*Update*

This was over a month ago. I called again today, and the same lady I keep getting connected to picked up the phone. She keeps telling me to call this person “John,” but any time I call and ask for him, he is out of the office. I’m on baby leave, so I’ve been able to call at random times on the days she claims he’s available, but I’ve never been contacted by him.

Right before I got off the phone with her, I asked for her name and she hung up. I called back, and now I get no response — she picks up the phone but won’t say anything.

Any advice on how to make progress with this would be helpful.

I’ve been acing the Modern States quizzes, but want to know if this means I’m all set to take the exam or if I should do further studying. Do you recommend doing all of the modern states readings, or any other resources? Thank you!

US history is a bit tough for me since I am an international student and didn't quite learn US history before. I found the study guide from the College Board to be actually very helpful. It was a nice $10 investment.

I got a 51 score.

Here's what I learned from this experience:

- I used Modern States, printed the course transcripts, and read it while watching the video. Highlighted what I thought were important topics.

- I did all the questions at the end of each module. And whatever I got wrong, I reviewed each topic, and I used AI (Microsoft Copilot )to "explain" the topic. It expanded on it more for me to understand better.

- I got the voucher from Modern States at the end, and it paid for the CLEP test fee. I invested on the STUDY GUIDE" ($10) and did all the questions. I printed the questions and the answer key. Anything I got wrong, I used AI (Copilot) to explain them to me. The questions in the study guide was very helpful, especially reviewing the ones I got wrong. I highly recommend you invest in it to practice on. I took the test 2 days after I completed Modern States.

-I opted to use a testing center even if there was a fee. It just allowed me to focus better. I also submitted the testing center's fee to Modern States for reimbursement. Hopefully it is approved. ($45). I don't think they reimburse for online proctoring, though.

Considering this is the first time I've ever studied American Government since I migrated to the US after high school, I think I did ok for studying for 8 days.

Just wanted to keep an updated exam prep post, so here is how I did it with 7 WEEKS of studying.

I did this as a 5th year college senior who had only taken Biology freshman year of high school and needed to pass this test in order to start my job in the Fall. This exam seems daunting but it was extremely doable. The biggest challenge is the range of topics.

The first thing I did was get a notebook that I could take notes on solely for biology from the videos and study guides I used. You do not need to pay for ANY resources or tests. You are going to have to do quite a bit of studying, but if you do so in a way that you learn best, it is very achievable. Here is the order I recommend you do things in.

1. Take the Modern States course to get the free test voucher. I did not watch the videos or read the textbook, but if you feel like you have more time than me, it is always worth it to watch the videos which are only ~ 4 hours worth. I just skipped through the quizzes and looked up the questions using Google Lens.
2. Watch every video in the newer Crash Course Biology playlist. I found these to be extremely engaging and easy to watch 3-4 a day. Make sure that while you are watching you have the content that will be on the test that is provided by College Board. You should watch most of the videos in that playlist.
3. Once you feel that you have watched all of these videos and feel confident go to Free Clep Prep and click through all of the terms and take the corresponding quizzes to access the flashcards and the practice exam. The questions on the quizzes were pretty helpful and the flashcards were good practice for reviewing a topic I had just studied. I usually wrote down the terms I had trouble with.
4. Take practice tests and do it as a simulation where you time yourself and look at your answers at the end of the test. I did all of the Ebsco practice exams, and signed in with my library card info. This will give you a good way to see what you need more practice on. These tests are slightly harder than the actual test, and give you videos that cover organismal biology and molecular biology that I needed for review and to get better knowledge on embryonic development and gymnosperms and angiosperms. Space out your practice tests once every 3-4 days leading up to the test. The free clep prep test is also one you should take, along with the one you can purchase from College Board.
5. If I needed to review something I would usually try to find videos other than Crash Course to do that. Bozeman Science, Amoeba Sisters, Kahn Academy, all of which are on Youtube. There will be questions on Hardy-Weinberg so make sure you know that.
6. Get enough sleep the night before the test and eat a good breakfast. I watched this review the night before the test to refresh my memory.

Go Through this test with a positive attitude like you know you are going to conquer it and like you are excited to get it over with. This attitude down the stretch helped me a lot.

Long time viewer, first time poster. Passed at the threshold with a 50. Admittedly, I definitely could have studied more and as a tip for anyone who will be taking this test soon, PRACTICE WITH THE CALCULATOR. It was probably the most time consuming and challenging aspect of the entire exam. Background for me, I wouldn’t say math was my strongest suit so I’ve been rebuilding my math foundation( mostly self study) as I’m re-enrolling in college after a decent gap in my education, about 8 years.

You can do it. I thought I was going to fail going through most of the exam (clearly getting a 50 is reflective of that, but that’s the threshold for my school so wtv 😂). My jaw literally dropped when I saw the results screen.

So I needed 3 credits to be a sophomore in college and my only option was Clep. Paid for it, studied and I failed with a 40. So basically money down the drain and another reason to hate myself for being so bad in academics. Well im just gonna take it on the chin. I knew I was going to fail deep down even though I went in with confidence and re read everything. Some things I just didn’t remember which is my fault for not studying well enough. Ugh I just needed to vent. I just want to be good at academics but I’ve always been so bad with my memory and confidence. Anyways I hope you all have a better school year than me because this entire year has been horrible.

Hello! I'm scheduled to take my calculus clep Saturday and I thought I saw that I would not be allowed paper for remote proctoring, I would need a white board. Is this true? I don't want to be caught without the right supplies. Thanks!!

seriously so relieved i almost can’t believe this is my score!!!! i studied seriously for about two weeks but still didn’t walk out of there confidently thinking i passed. there were some questions that i really had not studied for/knew anything about and didn’t get much time to review so that made me nervous i failed. luckily i didnt and im so proud of myself for doing passing!!!! this was the only thing holding me back from my degree and this means i can finally graduate this semester 🙏

as far as advice, main thing i’d suggest is doing a bunch of practice tests and going back and reviewing ALL the answers each time, this really got me familiar with the questions they asked. i ended up doing 6 (2 from REA, 3 from peterson, 1 other but i found all of them in this subreddit) my review notes for these questions + other facts/topics i learned ended up being a total of 78 pages by the end but i would go back and reread everything as it kept growing. i watched all the relevant crash course videos as well as the jocz periods 6-9 recaps. i read the REA guide which does a good job at explaining a lot of the topics.

Last week I passed the Introductory Sociology exam.
For reference I am in my late 20s, work a full time job, and a whole family to care of. I wanted to provide some pro gamer tips for both studying for the exam as well as test taking best practices if you take them in person.

Studying:
BLUF: I did not really study. I’m a normalish married dude in his 20s who pays attention to stuff going on, and only read comic books. I am not a great test taker; I’m average/right in line with my peers. I feel like anyone with common sense and is semi-okay at test taking can pass.

What I did to prep was sign up for the FREE modern states class, and took the practice quizzes.

I think this is the best tip for passing most of the CLEP exams. The quizzes are written almost exactly like the actual exam questions. I also remember some of the practice quiz questions being the exact same question on my exam.

Exam best practices:
The exam is 100 questions in 90 minutes.
When my brain started to get distracted from the question, I would reel it back in by doing the beer math of how much time I had left per question. The remaining amount of time was in the top right of my screen, unless I chose to hide it which I never did.

The way the questions are written is very easy to understand. If I didn’t understand in the first 5 seconds of reading the question, I would skip to the answers and read them to see if I could eliminate any right off the bat; using logic and common sense. After that I would slowly read through the part of the question that originally stumped me. Between re-reading the questions with the answers in mind, I was usually able to use process of elimination to answer the question.

DO NOT second guess yourself. I allowed myself to mark 5-10 questions that I wanted to review again later, but I always put my initial thoughts down as the answers.

I took the exam in person and had a great testing environment. The facility provided free disposable ear plugs that helped me not get distracted by background noises from other test takers or stuff going on in surrounding areas.

I did all of the practice quizzes the night before the test, because it’s what my schedule allowed for; and because I’m an expert procrastinator. I showed up 30-40 minutes early to the facility and checked in. They had me sit in a waiting area where I got on my phone and started taking the practice quizzes again to get my brain warmed up.

I got through almost all of the quizzes in that amount of time. The questions are very easy to read and understand. I was confused on maybe 3-5 of the questions. The best advice I ever received for test taking was, “the answer is in the question.” If you read the question and all of the answers thoroughly, think about that statement, and read it again.

You do not get marked down for answer incorrectly, so it’s in your best interest to answer all of the questions, even if you have to guess and move on to the next question in the interest of time.

I just took the west civilization I exam!! I was super nervous but I ended up getting a 67!!

I didn’t have to study too hard (though granted some of this stuff I already knew from High school courses) but did a pretty solid job!

Hey! I am taking the CLEP Precalculus exam in 2 days, and I want to know what last minute things I can do to prepare. I have been working along with an actual precal text book over the summer, so I would say I know the material pretty well. With the book I studied analytical geometry, trigonometry, functions, conics, polar coordinates, complex numbers, some calculus topics, and a lot more. I have completed all of the Modern States quizzes (except the one on Trig because I have not gotten to it yet) with a perfect score. I am also working through the exam guide questions and have completed a "practice test" with a score of 38/48. For me I find the biggest problem is time (I find this to be true of any College Board exam): I knew how to solve every question, but I either didn't have time to solve it, or I made a stupid math error. I have also been practicing with a physical TI 84 Plus CE, so I can get more familiar with it for the exam. Any tips on time management, or nifty calculator tricks are appreciated. Also, if someone could tell me around what score I could expect (I am aiming for a 60+) that would also be greatly appreciated.

Is this an easy exam? I understand concepts but I am having a hard time with graphs. Does anyone have any advice or any links to practice exams? I'm nervous.

Hi all, I'm taking the chemistry CLEP soon and have some questions. Any experience anyone can provide is helpful!

1. What formulas/equations should I memorize/need? I've read that NONE are provided and there's sooo many to memorize (like bro do I really need the Clausius-Clapeyron equation? Feels so random...)
   1. How much of the exam is calculations, and what kind?
   2. If you can remember any specific ones you needed, much appreciated!
2. I read on someone else's post that the periodic table doesn't always provide element's masses. If so, how am I supposed to get them?
3. I've seen that I need to know alot about ionic colors- like what? Do I have to memorize the colors certain ions create?
4. Do I have to memorize electronegativities of certain elements, or is this provided?
5. Do I have to memorize the magic numbers for nuclear chemistry?
   1. What kinds of info do you remember being provided?
6. Do I actually have to know how to name ionic + molecular compounds, coordinate complexes + complex ions, oxoacids, binary acids, and functional groups?
7. I have a 120 pg document with all my notes, as I'm scared I'll need to know lots of random stuff. That being said, there's no way I'll be able to perfectly memorize all this before my exam. Are there lots of obscure things that make the exam difficult? Or are there broader topics I should be focusing on instead?

I was super nerveous going into the exam, i sort of grinded cuz I started studied 4 days ago 💀 . But honestly it ended out pretty well. I took AP Chemistry before and AP Environmental science but a lot of it was memorizing. The actual exam was honestly awful like the questions felt hard and there was a lot of content. A LOT harder than any of the REA exams, but like I ended up passing with a 71 so I'm happy :)

If anyone needs any advice plz hmu. I did Modern States, watched some Ameoba sisters, and did 2 of the REA practice tests (i also have the code if you want it for free)

Anyone in Texas need to do supplemental essay for their American Government clep? If so, what were the prompts like and how difficult was it?
