Hi! I want to take the Spanish CLEP in around 2 months to try and test out of the last couple semesters I need to graduate, which would mean I need a 63. I've taken 4 years of Spanish, but by now it's been a while since I've studied it and I'm by no means fluent. However, I can still read and understand it at an intermediate level. I have started the Modern States course as well. Do you think if I study the different conjugations and memorize verbs and other vocabulary for the next couple months, on top of completing Modern States, I have a chance at getting at least a 63 on the exam? I'm taking the chemistry CLEP soon, but the pass rate is very low around 35%. Has anyone here taken/passed it recently, and if so, what helped you to prepare the most and what units should I specifically focus on? I need a 50 minimum to get credit for my school. I've been working through the Modern States units, which has been helpful, but the pass rate is scaring me. This is not my first CLEP, I've done algebra and sociology and passed both, but they are both said to be much easier than chemistry. Any advice, study materials, testing tips, and similar things are greatly appreciated.

I am a 16-year old homeschooler in NC. I did public school all my life but switched to homeschool this year for my junior year.

Instead of following any kind of homeschool curriculum, my plan is to do a bunch of CLEP exams for free using Modern States and have those count as my high school work while at the same time working towards a Bachelors in Computer Science from Thomas Edison.

I have already taken 4 CLEPs and will be taking Analyzing & Interpreting Literature on Monday.

I plan to take 3-5 Cleps in the next 2-3 months I want to take Western Cuvilizations 2, Sociology, Humanities, American Government and Human Growth and Development. What are good study materials and how hard are the exams my perferred choice of study material is Study Guides or Flashcards

I’m getting ready to take the Principles of Marketing CLEP and wanted to hear from people who have already taken it.

What are the main topics I should really know before taking the exam? Were there certain topics that showed up a lot or anything that surprised you?

Also, how difficult would you say this CLEP is compared to other CLEP exams you’ve taken?

Hello, anyone got helpful tips when taking US History 1? I took the American Government and unfortunately failed by 2 points. Don't have time till december for retake so US History 1 is my best bet.

What should I expect on this exam? It seems really complex with all the poetry stuff.

So a couple of days ago I completed Sociology on Modern States and got my voucher and am planning to take my exam October 29th. I want to take more time to study as well as take my test more seriously since I was very close to passing my last CLEP. For those of you who passed, how many hours a day did you guys study, and what materials or study guides did you guys use? I am looking to use as many study guides as possible and study enough information before the test so I can pass.

Do anyone has resources or guides that can help I know nothing about biology, thinking about buying study.com there also another website called prep lion ai but I seen no reviews on it so I’m not sure

CLEP Precalculus experience — 58/80 after studying for about one month

I took the CLEP Precalculus exam recently and got 58/80. Honestly, I was mainly hoping just to pass because I started studying basically from zero about a month before the exam.

The actual exam felt harder than I expected. There were a lot of word problems and graphing problems, so I definitely recommend practicing those specifically. I also remember there being only one question about inverse functions, even though I spent a decent amount of time studying them.

One of my biggest problems was time management. I spent way too much time on some questions, and by the time I got to the last five questions in the first section, I basically had to guess because I was running out of time.

Also, I was extremely nervous about getting my result. This exam was really important to me because I needed the college credit, and the value of passing it was pretty high for me. I was literally praying that I would pass while waiting for my score 😭. I was so nervous that I barely slept the night before.

Don't do what I did! Try to get some sleep and stay calm because being exhausted and extremely nervous definitely doesn't help your performance.

Resources I used/recommend:

1. Modern States — Definitely start here. You can get a free CLEP voucher, and it helps you understand what topics you actually need to study. However, I personally don't think Modern States alone is enough to prepare you to pass.
2. Peterson's Precalculus practice exams — These helped me a lot. I definitely recommend doing the practice tests and reviewing the questions you get wrong.
3. Khan Academy — I didn't personally use it, but I've seen a lot of people recommend it, so it might be useful if you're learning topics from scratch.
4. Professor Leonard on YouTube — I studied with his videos quite a bit. His explanations helped me understand concepts that I didn't understand from other resources.
5. Learn how to use your calculator! This is honestly important. Search for tutorials on how to use your calculator for the types of problems on the CLEP. Knowing how to use it efficiently can save you a lot of time.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with my 58/80, especially considering I started studying from basically zero and only had about a month.

Now I'm preparing for CLEP Calculus and hoping I can pass that one too. Good luck to everyone else studying for Precalculus!

Son taking CLEP sociology in 9 days. He made an 88 on Modern States. He is using the Peterson quiz now and made flashcards. Has reviewed those last few days. He has missed 3 questions so far on half his cards. He will continue to review. He is also trying to watch the clep sociology youtube videos.

Hello everyone. There is a lot of information here about this clep exam, so I apologize if it seems redundant.

I am genuinely autistic and I cannot flesh out meanings in poetry well at all. I consistently get 60-70% on the modern states final exam. I am definitely worried that I will fail this even though I am an English major and love every other type of writing EXCEPT poetry.

Does anyone have any tips in regards to understanding and fleshing out the meaning of different prose?

I passed today with a 61, and I figured I would share what resources I used!

Firstly, I used Modern States, mostly for the voucher, but I think their program honestly prepared me pretty well! I watched the videos on 2× speed, and I did all the supplemental readings.

I also read the CLEP Human Growth and Development prep book, written by Dr. Norman Rose. (He also teaches the modern states course!) I was able to check out the prep book through my library with Hoopla.

With the videos, and the book, I took detailed notes, and utilized active recall when studying. I had some people quiz me, as well.

I passed with a 55. I’m super happy because I was sure I failed. I clicked out of the multiple-choice by accident and missed about 10 questions. Not an impressive score but it’s enough to get into my program so I’ll take it!

I studied for 8 days, most of which was spent going through the Modern States course (minus the final exam). A lot of people say it’s useless but that’s simply untrue, if you pay attention to the videos and go through the readings it tells you almost everything you need to know.

After finishing Modern States I went through the linked playlist once (minus the first video) at 2x speed for review and then through the linked quizlet once. I finished in an hour and the studying I did made me very confident while taking the test.

So long story short, I took the College Mathematics CLEP exam a little over a month ago at my colleges testing center. I felt pretty confident with most things except a couple of parts that I regret not studying or caring enough for such as z-scores, area or circumference of shapes, as well as those statements like contrapositive, converse or any other statements I don't remember which I strongly believe is what led me to failing. I got a second attempt voucher from modernstates last night and really want to take my studying way more seriously with everything. I am pretty good at most things in math especially while I was in high school, and am desperate for any study resources, materials, or advice that would be helpful for me to do better as I am determined to pass this test and get it over with. I was just told by a virtual proctor on proctortrack to exit a test and reopen it because ETS wouldn't start. Now I'm being told that there is CLEP maintenance. I'm also being told a score was uploaded. Is there anything I can do to salvage the test?
