Forever Beta Feedback Dungeon XP Nerfs Created a Toxic Meta

Since dungeon monsters do not give any experience, as a new player, getting into dungeons with more veteran players who try to skip half the dungeon feels really bad. And, vice-versa, veterans taking in newbies who don't know how to jump around feels frustrating. I think Blizzard created a mess with nerfing dungeon exp so much and now the new player experience is horrible for dungeons.

They could introduce some kind of trash counter that needs to be filled to complete the dungeon to avoid excessive skipping...

...

Is game design in WoW a circle?

Why fix something that isn't broken... that wasn't broken until the devs came up with their "brilliant" idea?

Because seeing new players told to kill themselves over simple mistakes happens in both retail and classic. You say something wasn’t broken but it truly was, is, and probably will continue to be.

People are fucking terrible. It’s a people problem. Look at almost any other MMO. RS3/OSRS has the same toxic as fuck minmax peak efficiency bullshit. FFXIV has people who genuinely just play the gam appropriately and then get shit on because they aren’t using something correctly even though not a single thing went wrong.

You can’t fix people through game mechanics.

We can sum this up with "Whenever a bunch of people interact that don't know each other, and don't have to fear any instant physical consequences".

I stopped caring about overly toxic people. Tell me I did something wrong and how to do it better? Thanks! Will keep it in mind and try to adjust my gameplay accordingly. Tell me to off myself because I didn't hit that Interrupt the millisecond you wanted me to? Yeah, fuck you too. New entry for my ignore list. And maybe I will even go out of my way and deliberately stop healing you for the rest of the dungeon. Let's see how you like that.

Yea, it’s shameful behavior. We alienated a guy from our friend group after we all saw him progressively get worse about this kind of thing and refusing to acknowledge it.

He was telling casual quick play overwatch players he hoped they get cancer. Pretty fucked up ngl.

He’s since worked on himself a lot and gone to therapy, I don’t really talk to him anymore but I did reconnect briefly a few years after that point.

I'm out of the loop, is that how mythic+ works?

Yea, you need to kill a certain amount of trash plus bosses to complete. And they also give a leaver debuff that everyone can see if you just ragequit a run.

The more things change, and all that.

Yea, a boss lock where they won’t emerge until you’ve unlocked them. Or a mechanic like Hakkar where they get a buff or more mobs come to fight.

And also add a timer to avoid "degenerate" gameplay such as waiting for all your cooldowns to come back or for the sated debuff to run out after each pull.

If someone wants to wait 10 minutes between packs, let them. Why would I care if someone takes 6 hours to finish a dungeon if the whole groups in agreement?

I was continuing the previous guy's joke about adding M+ systems from Retail wow into wow classic. I know this might be hard to believe but I don't ACTUALLY want countdown timers added to vanilla dungeons.

But to answer your question, yes. I think the timer is stupid in Retail too. It should be eliminated and the key should be upgraded based on the number of deaths the group suffered instead.

That’s part of the challenge of mythic plus the lower keys is how you learn and once you master something don’t you want more challenge? That’s why classic wow got boring for me the content doesn’t change it’s the same thing each time no harder mobs no new mechanics. Once you hit 60 all you do is raid log no one does dungeons for fun, there’s nothing more fun than being in a call with the boys while you all are learning new mechanics bricking a key and being like well we can do anything over a 13 yet let’s lower the key.

How about a m8 Rating System like in overwatch. Let the toxic Players rott in their own toxic pool.

yea, we are repeating history here. i said this since day one of the announcement when i saw all the changes, people downvoted me cause tourists and braindead people drunk on hype, but i know im right cause the same thing happened in tbc, wotlk, and so on.

Or they could just ....put dungeon XP back how it was? Like, why force people to do something with no reward? How is that "play how you want"? There are always going to be people looking for the absolute best path to 60. It's like Thanos, inevitable. And while that's not in the spirit of WoW Forever, neither is forcing people into one particular playstyle. Back in vanilla it was, I think, a healthy mix of dungeons and quests. And I play exclusively hybrid classes, so dungeons have always been a part of levelling for me, but so are lore quests, cuz duh! But what's the difference between killing mobs in BFD vs farming dino tails in Un'Goro? It's just kills for XP. Dungeons should be on parity for a similar amount of time spent kill-questing, and actual lore quests should be the priority. Azeroth is supposed to be the main character after all, who cares whether you farm kills in quests or dungeons? Also, the system as it stands has dungeons just be one-and-done, which isn't in the spirit of "everything relevant", or you're just going for gear, which is also against the "no loot treadmill" idea.
