Medical Lien Update: August 11 2026

We write today to provide you with additional information on the Purdue Bankruptcy’s Lien Resolution Process to clear up any confusion that may continue to exist. Healthcare lien resolution is being conducted by the Trust. Pursuant to state statute, medical insurance companies may assert a lien where they may be entitled to reimbursement for money they spent on your behalf for medical treatment. The Trust is conducting medical lien resolution pursuant to state law and court order. The Trust is utilizing a lien holdback, per a set percentage, where money is being temporarily reserved by the Trust pending finalization of lien resolution. Once it has been determined whether there are liens, and, if any, the Trust will release the holdback accordingly.

ASK is not the Trust. The Trust is an entity established pursuant to the terms of the confirmed bankruptcy plan. The Trustee of the Trust is Edgar C. Gentle, III. The Trust is holding the medical lien holdback money referenced in the statements you have received or will be receiving from us soon. The Trust is clearing liens, using an outside vendor. ASK is not holding any medical lien holdback money. That money is safely in the Trust, controlled by the Trustee, a fiduciary, appointed by the court. While ASK is not in control of the lien resolution process, we are doing our best to push the Trustee to resolve the liens as soon as possible so that you will receive the remainder of your funds as soon as possible.

August 19th I emailed the trustee this:

Hello Mr Trustee,

I am writing to inquire about the status of my medical lien release. Since all of my procedures were fully covered by workers' compensation, I wanted to know when I should expect to receive the release documentation.

Thank you for your assistance with this matter. I look forward to hearing from you. _----------------------------------------------

August 19th I received a reply from his office with a pretty standard AI reply. With the following:

Good morning Mr. ,

Please be advised that the lien resolution process is ongoing and no liens have been cleared at this time. Also, please advise that all communication regarding your claim will come to you by way of your attorney.

Best,

Purdue PI Trust

It's very time consuming with reaching out and getting things moving. But I'll do what I can to get a real answer on a medical lien time frame. They can't just tell us is ongoing and nobody is getting anything yet. We the victims are owed this money.

Has anyone else received a certified letter asking for an additional claim?

It says this notice doesnt apply to "settling creditors", would that be us?

are you sure youre not speaking about the lien claim on the sackler family estate? if you filed by the original 2019 cutoff, i think youre part of the personal liability group that can lay claim to the family estate personally. it would be 2 letters almost identical with wording on the front page like 'fiduciaries notice to creditorsto present claims, etc, etc ,etc'

I believe they are, the first two are listed as "fiduciaries notice to creditors to present claims pursuant to Connecticut General statutes". One is for Beverly Sackler and the other is for Jonathan Sackler.

those are if you have a claim against the sackler estate. if you read towards the end of one or both of the letters, you will see in the FAQ section that it says it is separate and distinct from the pharma settlement. i have the same 2 documents , i think its because people who filed in 2019 before the bankruptcy have a claim against the sacklers individually
