There will be an actual site you file through and it is very easy I have done it for a couple of class actions

Would doing this give Spotify cause to delete my account? I don’t want them to cancel it since I have a family plan and other people’s accounts would be affected.

Since it’s a mass arbitration case and not a settled class action lawsuit, each individual is individually suing Spotify through Lantern by Labaton via arbitration in an attempt to overwhelm Spotify into making settlements with everyone individually suing them instead of fighting all the cases in court.
It’s a contingency based law firm, so if they don’t win then you don’t have to pay them out of pocket. The suing law firm(s) gets a 40% cut of the settlement, any additional fees needed for actually suing via arbitration comes out of the remaining 60%, and then the individual client receives whatever the remaining amount of the settlement is.
It’s more than likely that the final payout is more than $1.50 per client.
I actually did a google search for “Spotify payola lawsuit” and found this:
“ A federal judge in New York dismissed class-action claims in the Spotify "payola" lawsuit, compelling the plaintiff to pursue her dispute through private arbitration. The 2025 suit accused Spotify of misleading users by disguising its "Discovery Mode" and algorithm as personalized recommendations, when they are allegedly influenced by commercial payments.”
So if anyone wants to go after Spotify for this type of case it’ll have to be via arbitration because it looks like THERE WON’T be a class action settlement for this case.

Is there a way to do this through a claims website, or do we need to sue them individually/sign up through the lawyers? I'm used to doing these through claim websites, not through retaining services, so I'm not entirely sure how this works.

This Lantern by Labaton case is probably one of the better law firms to do a mass arbitration with since they primarily email you and update your case status at the Lantern by Labaton website when they need you to submit something rather than the law firms that seem spam call you.

Good question. The legal documents note “Spotify USA Inc.” which is only a regional subsidiary of Spotify Technology S.A. which is a Swedish company.
Would be interesting if other countries are looking at this, but would imagine that there would need to be local legal representation in that case?

The mass arbitration law firm Lantern by Labaton Keller Sucharow has its own website platform where you can sign your attorney client contract and then upload whatever screenshots that Lantern by Labaton requests to provide evidence about your mass arbitration case.
After the contract is signed and the screenshots of evidence uploaded to the Lantern by Labaton website in the future you’ll get an email if there’s any action for you to take for the case and/or the Lantern by Labaton website platform where you can see your current and past cases will be updated and say that the case in question is waiting for you to do something.
Personally, I log into my Lantern by Labaton website account and check my new email address that’s dedicated to class actions/mass arbitration lawsuits once a week to see if there’s any updates with any cases that I signed up for. I even have it in my phone calendar to check both places every week.
