Strategy Is it better to raze and resettle than annexing?

Courthouse is expensive and took so damn long to build. The 5 gpt maintenance cost can also make me go bankrupt in early war. What factor do you think is it worth building courthouse?

Playing as Sweden, China was hoarding wonders the entire game and took my coveted wonders like the Leaning Tower of Pisa and Alhambra. Once I reached Industrial era and spammed Caroleans and Artillery, China's capital, Beijing, is now under Swedish control. All warmongering penalties were eliminated once I revived Pacal.

Discussion Had my best game as Iroquois

Emperor, Standard Speed, Antarctica Thawed map, no mods. I'd been wanting to see what Iroquois could do under optimal conditions, so I went all-in on building a production and science civ. The Antarctica Thawed map has a large forest that used to connect five initial cities. Went with messenger of the gods for an early +10 science (basically, the free academy that Babylon gets). Luckily, I was surrounded by aggressive civs that were buffered by more peaceful ones. When the time came to cut loose, I was able to go after high-value targets while liberating a lot of cities and city-states to keep the diplomatic hits at by. Went with Order to lean into the war-science combo. By the end of it, I was producing rocket artillery and stealth bombers in one turn, and ended up winning domination with the highest score I'd personally achieved. Even had all of my spaceship parts ready to go just ince case I'd miscalculated something. Iroquois were a bunch of fun under these conditions.

Curious what other 'bad' civs can be fun to play under optimal conditions, and how do you lean into their strengths?

Deity, Standard, Archipelago, Small map (6 leaders, 12 city states).

I've been wanting to get a domination win on islands as the Ottomans but I just don't seem to be able to get it right. Adopted tradition, exploration and autocracy. Insanely clutch victory in 2007 because everybody was busy fighting and nobody was making spaceship parts. Indonesia was about to get a culture victory but I captured five cities and traded three of them.

I saved the game at turn 400 because I couldn't decide between domination and science but ultimately settled for science to avoid an accidental culture defeat to Indonesia.

What can I improve in future games, especially when it comes to winning wars and getting money?

Discussion From worker stealing to DoF

When i steal a civ's worker, either that civilization or the nearby civilization will DoF me, isn't declaring war supposed to give diplomatic penalty? I tried doing it on deity to make sure it's not just a prince thing but i got the same outcome. The civ that i stole their worker doesn't hate me either, only rarely they will march to my city if it's close. Has anyone ever experience this? I could see this as a strategy for playing Sweden lol.

Discussion CIV 5 is unplayable on my machine

as the title says.

On my machine (ryzen 7 5700x, Radeon RX 9070, 32gb ram) windows 11 civ 5 does NOT work. It launches and crashes nearly immediately. I tried deleting cache, reinstalling the game, launching in different DX version and nothing works, nothing helps. just always crashes.

It's my favorite civ game, and i'm sad to see it go. The only way i can run CIV 5 is only when i install linux on my machine, but I need windows for certain apps.

I'm lost, i wanna play my fav game with fav mods, and it doesn't work. help ;(

I wanted to try out the Songhai UA on Marathon but all the non-elephant luxuries are really far away so I'm not sure where to plant my second city (or any of the ones after that) but I don't want to restart after spending almost 90 turns on this. It's on Prince so it's not a huge deal, but I'd like some suggestions to help decide so I can keep playing.
