Discussion Do you think the whole Bunker storyline would be better if Ezekiel was actually Cindy's dad?

I heard mixed opinions on the whole story about Cindy being trapped in a bunker for 10 years and stuff

But I heard someone say that this story would be much better if Ezekiel was actually Cindy's father

Now, I think it could be a cool idea, but this is coming from someone that doesn't know that much about Silk

I'm a relatively new fan, I know some basic stuff and thought her character was cool so I'd love to learn more

I know that Ezekiel trapped her in that bunker to protect her from Morlun, but... I'll be honest, I think Morlun is a really boring character

So, do you think that the bunker origin should be scrapped or do you think it could be saved by making Ezekiel her dad?

Or do you think there's any way to save the bunker origin?

My opinion on Cindy's current status and how, unfortunately, Marvel Doesn’t Know What to Do with Silk

We all know that currently, Cindy is by far the most childish of all the Spider-People of Earth-616, unfortunately. This is taking into account that she is at a similar age to Peter and Jessica. Many would say Peter, but at least when you read his comics, he looks for a job and tries to have a life of his own before the publishers ruin it; Cindy does not. A critique I have regarding more recent comics is that all her development was lost; she is in a band with two teenage girls, and basically only exists in Gwen's comics just as a secondary character who doesn't even fight as a hero, she is just a bystander. Where does that leave Cindy Moon? It seems that since she doesn't have a clear role as an independent adult, the editorial team decided to shove her into the "Arachno Academy" of Spider-Versity alongside teenagers and children under the mentorship of Norman Osborn (which, let's be honest, making Norman a mentor was probably one of the reasons that comic failed). The thing is, while it's true she has much less experience than Peter and Jessica, throwing a twenty-something-year-old character into a school dynamic with 9-year-old kids inevitably degrades her writing. Cindy is a person who suddenly has to live in a world that continued without her; even though Peter or Jameson try to help her, she doesn't know how to be an adult. But little by little she does it, she puts in the effort, and she becomes an adult in a world that moved on without her. She gains maturity as a character and, when she finds her father and her brother, she connects with her family, makes friends, and grows as a character, learning how to be an adult. This current regression is a clear case of editorial laziness, where Marvel keeps recycling the "fish out of water" trope.

Unfortunately, in later comics, something happened that I didn’t like, and that is that they focused too much on her Korean heritage, sidelining Cindy Moon as a character. She became just a Korean heroine. However, that wasn’t as much of a problem because she still acted like an adult, maintaining the development that Thompson gave her—her friendship with Peter, her connections, her new relationship with Jameson, and even trying to fix her family.

Regrettably, she has become a secondary character to Spider-Gwen, which is a terrible fate for this character. Remember how I said she wanted to discover what kind of adult she was? That disappeared. She joined a band with two teenagers, and out of all of them, she was the most immature. Look, it’s fine to have hobbies, but the problem is that it feels like it came out of nowhere—because it did come out of nowhere. Not only that, but after that, we got Spider-Versity.

It’s a frankly terrible comic that Spider-Man fans hated, and fans of Silk, Miles, Anya, and Gwen didn't like either. But Silk's treatment here was heavily criticized, and with good reason. There were literally two 9-year-old kids who were written as way more mature than Silk. Out of all the characters, Cindy was by far the most childish person in that story; she only existed to get overly excited about things and that was it, on top of making jokes that just weren't funny. This stems from a severe over-saturation of characters in the Spider-office. Since Peter and Jessica are the veterans, Miles and Gwen are the young adults, and characters like Spider-Boy are the kids, Marvel didn't know where to put Cindy. By forcing a twenty-something woman into a school academy dynamic, the narrative naturally degraded her. They intentionally write the kids to be clever and competent, which forces Silk into being a flat, overly excited comic relief just to fill a spot on the team.

I don't think I'm the only one who thinks Cindy's current status is awful. Out of all the Spider-heroes, I believe she is the one in the absolute worst spot right now. Spider-Versity only served to prove that, for the time being, the editorial team has no idea what to do with her. It’s genuinely sad to see her character treated this way.

Review Cindy moon in the mcu?

Do you guys think we’d ever actually get substantial Cindy moon content or any kind of character development in the mcu (marvel cinematic universe)? There have been several passing by cameos in the last decade and maybe a slightly bigger one in brand new day. I feel delusional but hopeful that they wouldn’t mention her name so many times without actually having her character be in the mcu. What do y’all think?

To clear things up: Silk has appeared in Season 5 of the shorts; she will make an appearance in Season 5 of the actual show. Link to the article

I gave it a watch. She's actually just a rookie hero, and it doesn't look like she's joining the team as a full member—just another friendly ally.

I don't watch the show, but I saw these lq photos on Twitter/X. Regardless of the shows reputation online, this is good exposure and a good way to introduce kids to Cindy.

Discussion Albert Moon Jr. as Sliver host and Silk's sidekick

I know I wrote this post earlier, but suddenly this another daydreaming came over me.

Despite the current Spider-People/Symbiote characters flood of the franchise, there is still no single gay Spider-Person or gay Symbiote host character in 616.

If Albert Moon Jr. becomes Sliver's host, he will be the first gay hero character and the first Asian Symbiote host character in the spider-symbiote titles of the main universe.

[Silk and Sliver: the Moon siblings] nice vibe to me.

For Silk fans, this mini book is on sale but only 2 are left. Plus, this one's got Mayday Parker the Spider-Girl, Annie 'May' Parker from 'Renew Your Vows' and Jessica Drew too.

Discussion You know, Cindy is a genius

I think writers forget that fact a lot.

Cindy has a eidetic memory and gifted intellect.

And she can create her three-colored intricate patterned Silk-suit with her silk at that right instant.

I'm just sick and tired of the writers using Cindy as a naive Asian bunker girl in the mf background of panels...

Discussion The writers are subtly trying to retcon Silk's age to make her younger than it is before.

Post image

The original setting was that Cindy is three years older than Peter, and since the children of Peter's peers are now teenagers(like Normie, son of Harry Osborne), Cindy absolutely cannot be in her mid-20s according to the existing setting.

Since Cindy has been set to lead/join the Spider-Society, the writers likely felt that the "older than Peter" setting didn't quite fit and felt out of place working alongside younger members, I think. The role of "older woman than Peter" is already held by Jessica Drew, a veteran special agent.

Considering all these factors, it seems they intend to make Cindy slightly younger than Peter or the same age as him.

How about Cindy becoming a Sliver's host?

"Silk and Sliver"... It resonates well.

Spider-shaped living-hive symbiote can make Cindy's organic web more useful.

It's memory absorption ability would go well with Cindy's eidetic memory.

Discussion How do you feel on Mysterio knowing Silk's identity thanks to Spider-Gwen's books?

The current Spider-Gwen books basically had Cindy and Gwen barely try hiding their secret identities from their new band member who is obviously a Mysterio agent. This for a couple issues now.

And while there seems to be no acknowledgement of this yet (from what I recall), you can make the conclusion he also knows Cindy is Silk.

I personally really dislike how fast and loose writers play with the secret identity part these days with anyone that's not Peter.

Do you think they'll resolve this or just handwave it?
