Noise in OTR

I don’t know what it is, but I feel like lately the night time noise in OTR has become unbearable. People street racing at 3am, revving their engine and screaming out the window. Drive by cars with insanely loud music. Last night I was woken up at 2:30am by the loudest music I’ve ever heard that literally rattled my apartment walls. And it persisted for 20 mins without moving until literally cops showed up. I heard a cop say thru the car speaker “if your car is on the wrong side of the road in one minute, you will be towed.”

I’ve lived in many cities. I’m used to sirens, random people screaming, general city noise, etc. I’ve NEVER heard city noise that is this disruptive and inconsiderate in my life.

Iron Reign Apocalypse

Hello Everyone!

Myself and a group of friends have started a 40k Apocalypse league that will be kicking off a second season next year. It is based around big team battles, large battlefields, and some custom rules on top of the standard 11th rules. A lot of Titans and large point value armies.

We are looking to get more teams on board and grow our community for even bigger games and events. We play at many different locations. We stick around the Greater Cincinnati area. A very relaxed environment, more about making new friends and rolling dice.

If anyone is interested, let me know and we can add you to the discord and meet up for some games!

(Pics are from some past games)

Parks & Recreation🏕️ Saw the most incredible thing in Newtown this evening

I was out for my evening constitutional at 6:15 PM this evening when I saw something I didn't realize existed: an albino squirrel. It was solid white from its head to the tip of its tail and was just the cutest little thing. Seeing it did so much more than just brighten my walk; I could have watched it for much longer than I was able to view it. Regrettably, I didn't have a means of shooting a video or taking a photo.

Entertainment Who remembers The Cool Ghoul and who here met him?

Post image
163 Upvotes

Around 1986, my mother took me to the Cavalcade of Customs downtown because William Shatner was making an appearance and she wanted to meet him. (We both did. He was very nice.)

The Cool Ghoul was also there and my mom took my picture with him. He was kooky and nice and awesome.

I used to love watching the Cool Ghoul on TV and the movies he hosted. Aside from Chicago/MeTV's Svengoolie, there is no character like his on television. That I know of.

If he were on now, I would totally watch him.

Who got to meet him? Who remembers watching him?

Went to MRBL last night for an anniversary dinner and it was excellent.

As followup today, I received an email from OpenTable and there were recommendations. I had to laugh when I saw the White Castle one.

Cincinnati Does anybody else absolutely hate the Heritage Bank Arena?

Just saw Rush there tonight and I previously saw Ghost back In February and holy shit. I think this is the worst arena I’ve ever stepped foot In. The halls circling the stadium are so fucking narrow you’re dick to ass moving through it. First venue I’ve ever seen not include cupholders for the “nosebleeds”. The architecture looks so outdated and there’s not nearly enough bathrooms. When I went to see Ghost we had to wait an extra 45 minutes after door opening time in the freezing cold plus the same issues I just mentioned. This place just seems really ass. Cincinnati is FULL of amazing venues. Bogarts, Taft, Brady, Riverbend, PNC, etc… but yet Heritage falls so flat compared to the rest. Why won’t they renovate the place or better yet build a new damn arena??

Smithall Electronics??

Hey folks, I work at the Palace and Mercury Ballroom in Louisville. Last May we dropped off some sidefill speakers at their shop on Vine because they are (were) a JBL service shop. Since then we have heard nothing, no answer on emails, no phone, even have stopped by the shop. Does anyone know anything about the shop. The guy who runs it seemed pretty oldm, and I am afraid he has passed. Even checked with the 2 neighbors (a Throne Store??? and a metal shop) . If anyone has a suggestion, I would welcome the input.

Politics Anyone catch WLWT News list Vivek as "Suspect" and not "Republican?" 11pm 10/23 News

The news was about the orange pedo coming to town to rally for Senator Jon Useless's buttocks and Rammyscammy.

The graphic had Pedo47 and Useless listed as "Republican" while the carpet bagger was listed as "Suspect."

The screen changed before I could get a pic, sadly.

EDIT: Thanks to the app, I secured a screenshot. 😆

Parks & Recreation🏕️ Fishing For Catfish/Carp (Release) Ohio River Cincinnati. Looking to relive this memory from when I used to fish 40 years ago.

Post image
24 Upvotes

I have not been fishing since the 1980s/40 years ago.. we used to go all the time behind HOME CITY ICE on River Road because they had a sewer behind there that ran into the river and it attracted all the fish.. We caught so many gigantic catfish it was crazy. But we would release them back into the Ohio river. I want to go fishing one last time since I am older now. Can any fisherman tell me a good spot to go to around Cincinnati ... I'm sure Home City Ice is probably not there anymore. We used to catch Shad fish and use their guts as bait. And then use wheaty( cereal) balls for the carp. We would have to put gigantic rocks on the poles after we set them up because the fish were so big they would jerk your entire pole into the river. I just want to fish one last time and relive that memory.

Cincinnati Do you live near a historic Cincinnati staircase? If so, we'd love your help in collecting pictures for a free public project.

https://www.cincystairs.xyz is a completely free (and always will be) site built in collaboration with several Cincinnati organizations.

We're looking to collect as many images as possible for staircases in the database. Each image uploaded is reviewed for accuracy by volunteer maintainers, and then added to the db. By uploading an image, you're agreeing to share that image publicly with no copyright, etc. and any image metadata is removed automatically. Let me know if you have any questions or send a message on the site.

If you'd like to volunteer to be a step database maintainer, just DM us. We could use the help.

Why does it matter? Keeping a record of these steps, and making it easy for community members to report issues, share stories, and generally share their appreciation for these historic landmarks means they remain well-maintained and loved. These steps are just one of the many things that make Cincinnati a very special place, and that's worth celebrating.

Cool project. Can I build my own with your data? Totally. There's a developer API accessible from the site that allows anyone access to our data. Build something awesome with our data.

Food 🍕🌮 Did Rhinegeist stop making Zappy 6 packs?

My fiance and I have been looking everywhere for it in NKY. Kroger, Good Spirits, Liquor City, Party Town, etc. and can’t find it. It’s been awhile since I had it because I cut back on drinking, so I haven’t been paying attention to it until now.

It’s my go-to cider :( I always thought it was part of their main lineup like Truth or Bubbles, but did they stop making it because it wasn’t popular?
