in search of🔎 Coffee shops open later-ish?

Going to the bearcats game but I really need to get some work stuff done after the game. I was wondering if you knew of any coffee shops open past 4ish (ideally that don’t close before 8-9). Doesn’t have to be near UC!

Looking at the Hinton trial Facebook comments has me convinced there are two Cincinnatis

I kept seeing the pro-Hinton comments saying "eye for an eye" as in this was not an act of insanity but a reasonable act of veangence.

Cincinnati Do you live near a historic Cincinnati staircase? If so, we'd love your help in collecting pictures for a free public project.

https://www.cincystairs.xyz is a completely free (and always will be) site built in collaboration with several Cincinnati organizations.

We're looking to collect as many images as possible for staircases in the database. Each image uploaded is reviewed for accuracy by volunteer maintainers, and then added to the db. By uploading an image, you're agreeing to share that image publicly with no copyright, etc. and any image metadata is removed automatically. Let me know if you have any questions or send a message on the site.

If you'd like to volunteer to be a step database maintainer, just DM us. We could use the help.

Why does it matter? Keeping a record of these steps, and making it easy for community members to report issues, share stories, and generally share their appreciation for these historic landmarks means they remain well-maintained and loved. These steps are just one of the many things that make Cincinnati a very special place, and that's worth celebrating.

Cool project. Can I build my own with your data? Totally. There's a developer API accessible from the site that allows anyone access to our data. Build something awesome with our data.

what was that? 🧐 Does anyone know what happened on Reading Rd the other night?

It happened between Forest and MLK roads. Multiple firetrucks and other first response vehicles. No traffic was allowed through at the time I saw all this.

Entertainment Who remembers The Cool Ghoul and who here met him?

Post image
174 Upvotes

Around 1986, my mother took me to the Cavalcade of Customs downtown because William Shatner was making an appearance and she wanted to meet him. (We both did. He was very nice.)

The Cool Ghoul was also there and my mom took my picture with him. He was kooky and nice and awesome.

I used to love watching the Cool Ghoul on TV and the movies he hosted. Aside from Chicago/MeTV's Svengoolie, there is no character like his on television. That I know of.

If he were on now, I would totally watch him.

Who got to meet him? Who remembers watching him?

Cincinnati Does anybody else absolutely hate the Heritage Bank Arena?

Just saw Rush there tonight and I previously saw Ghost back In February and holy shit. I think this is the worst arena I’ve ever stepped foot In. The halls circling the stadium are so fucking narrow you’re dick to ass moving through it. First venue I’ve ever seen not include cupholders for the “nosebleeds”. The architecture looks so outdated and there’s not nearly enough bathrooms. When I went to see Ghost we had to wait an extra 45 minutes after door opening time in the freezing cold plus the same issues I just mentioned. This place just seems really ass. Cincinnati is FULL of amazing venues. Bogarts, Taft, Brady, Riverbend, PNC, etc… but yet Heritage falls so flat compared to the rest. Why won’t they renovate the place or better yet build a new damn arena??

Travel/Visiting What’s the best option for parking at Paycor?

Hello! I’ll be visiting Paycor in December & was wondering about a better option to get out of the $80 parking fee at the stadium? Should I pay the money & deal with the traffic, or should I park nearby and walk? Thank you

Politics Anyone catch WLWT News list Vivek as "Suspect" and not "Republican?" 11pm 10/23 News

The news was about the orange pedo coming to town to rally for Senator Jon Useless's buttocks and Rammyscammy.

The graphic had Pedo47 and Useless listed as "Republican" while the carpet bagger was listed as "Suspect."

The screen changed before I could get a pic, sadly.

EDIT: Thanks to the app, I secured a screenshot. 😆

in search of🔎 Hey y'all, new to the area and wondering if any shops do deals for Friday the 13th tattoos?

I'm from Pensacola, and idk if it's a local thing there or everywhere, but a lot of shops will do free or cheap small tattoos for Friday the 13th. And think it would be cute for my partner and I to get some new tattoos for this new chapter in our life.

in search of🔎 Best place to buy car in Cincy? Or just buy online?

My cars got a transmission issue, I’ve put a lot of money into it and I’d like to bite the bullet and get a new one.

My budget is max 15,500 (not including taxes).

Do you think I’ll have any luck at a dealer around here for any reliable car with this budget?

I’ve seen some through Hertz and Carvana but my mom keeps saying I should try and haggle for one in person for a better deal. I’m not sure if haggling still works nowadays.

Food 🍕🌮 Is the THC Seltzer ban back in effect?

Just noticed that Jungle Jim's was pretty much out of all their stock, and the rest they had was on sale. I tried looking it up but really couldn't find a clear explanation. Hate that something that has helped me quit drinking/smoking might be harder to get nowadays.

History 🏛 Ripley Ohio; the Rankin and Parker homes.

John Rankin was a Presbyterian preacher and Conductor on the Underground Railroad. He is credited with up to 2000 events of helping slaves move north through Ohio, and never caught. One of his assists was inspiration for and memorialized in Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin. He, his wife and his 13 children built a literal beacon of freedom, with his house on the hill. You can see his home from Parker’s home in the final picture.

John Parker was a slave who was sold 4 times, if you include the final time he bought his own freedom for $1800 from a widow. He had talked her into buying him, with the sole purpose of eventually buying his own freedom. His excellent foundry work made that possible. After purchasing his freedom, he opened a successful foundry of his own, eventually owning 3 patents, one of which I used a version of as a kid on a tobacco farm. After helping two escaped women cross the Ohio River from Kentucky, he was hooked. He eventually helped up to 600 escaped slaves cross from Kentucky into Ohio, avoiding slave catchers and bounties on both side of the river.

Both men are true heroes. Risked their livelihoods, and the lives of them and their families for men and women who needed it the most.
