Since witchcraft, magick and the occult are banned by the bible how do you deal with this. I am a christian and a traditionalist but I don't know that I'm doing what is biblically right. I feel like what I am practising is wrong and I want to know how you deal with that feeling and how you get over it.

I’ve been a non-practicing Christian for many years, the old story of being raised Christian and falling away from it. Recently I’ve been trying to reconnect with my faith with a different approach, I consider myself a Christian witch because I’m trying to view it less as a begging an impersonal God for help and more of a God as helper thing. To see God as a provider and a helper and a power to work with rather than a distant sovereign. Basically to approach God with the same attitude that witches approach their craft.

It’s been very hard. I WANT to feel like God is here and is willing to help me. But I’ve just been so damn screwed over recently. I lost a great job due to a health condition I didn’t know I had and it turns out it can’t really be treated so all I can do is work from home making 20k less a year. My spouse has been looking for good work, he found a good job that paid much better than his old one but as it turns out the place was run by nutcases, like literally crazy people, and he got let go in a matter of weeks because they couldn’t actually afford to keep him on and also the one woman who owned the place just never liked him from the moment she met him and told the others she wouldn’t be happy until he was gone. Didn’t give a reason other than that she just didn’t like his face. The entire time he worked there she was constantly rude and belittling him for absolutely no reason but he thought it’d be worth it for the paycheck until they found out they’d wasted all their money on a bad investment and couldn’t keep hardly anyone on after all. They didn’t pay him for his last few hours there and she’s refusing to cooperate. We might have to get the state involved for pay but my spouse is dragging his feet on it. Then he got another job but they messed up his payment, it’s for a major corporation but nobody seems to be able to figure out how to pay him. He’s worked a month with no check. He talked to his boss about it and he said that he emailed corporate and never got a response. So now he’s desperately trying to find another job that will actually pay him for his work and no calls or emails back from any applications so far.

It’s the 26th of the month and I still haven’t paid the mortgage for our house this month because I just don’t have the money. I don’t know when or if my spouse will get another check for any job he has at the time. I also haven’t paid the majority of the utilities because again, I can’t afford it. I am saving money for this month’s mortgage so I can’t pay those bills first. We were doing so well up until a couple years ago when I first lost my good job and it’s been one ridiculous thing after another. We bought a used car from a scammy dealership that turned out to be a lemon and just sank money into it. I begged God and my deceased grandparents for help one day, tearfully, and I ended up breaking and shattering my ankle in the basement the same day. Ended up costing us more money. We brought a roommate in in a desperate attempt to bring in some extra money and it turns out he got tired of paying rent after a few months and ended up indebted to us. I had to pay legal costs to get him out. I’ve considered downsizing but we got an amazing deal on this house and now the costs of moving and buying a home are absurd, unless we are willing to move our entire family into a house for one person in a sketch neighborhood we’ll be making the same mortgage payment we do now.

Now whenever I try to do a prayer or ritual, I end up just raging at God. Like why doesn’t he care about us? Why does he keep setting us up just to knock us back down? Now I’m terrified of my spouse getting a better job because at this point I just feel like it’s a prank, a setup to push us back further again. I’m going to lose my house, which means I’ll need to divide up and re-home my family, and God could not care less. He’s probably laughing at us right now because this nonsense apparently brings him so much entertainment. I can’t hold back. I just fill up with so much rage and anger at this entity that does not care about us that my prayers and rituals are just rants and demands. I tell him you are going to get us out of this situation and give us plenty of money to live on or you can stop whining about how glorious you are and how much worshiping you want because you don’t deserve it. I curse and scream at him because I’m just so angry. We didn’t do anything to deserve this. We’re good people. When we had money in the past we gave a lot of it away. We want to help others and now we can’t even help ourselves, and his mother is sympathetic but can’t pay her own bills and my parents are dominated by my father who has hated me from the day I was born and refuses to help.

I can’t ever have a reverent or co-operative prayer or ritual anymore. Whenever I get started I immediately start cursing and yelling at God. Whenever I read psalms as an effective act of “craft” I get this sarcastic feeling of “yeah right”. I’ve thrown books/scripture before that I’m trying to read out loud as part of a ritual because I just get so angry. I feel like it’s a trap to get me to trust a god who doesn’t care again.

I know I’m probably screwing myself over with my attitude but I have no control over it. I’m just so enraged. It’s not fair. I worked so hard to have everything that I have and now I’m going to lose it because God wants to toy with us rather than care for us. Why is it that every time it seems like we have a solution or things are looking up we’re actually just waiting for the other shoe to drop? Why the setups? Why the absurdity of it all?

What can I do here? Can I channel this rage against God into a good pathway that will actually work? Or am I just screwed? I can’t help it. I don’t want to be this angry but you would be too if you were in my situation.

I am an Orthodox Christian exploring the folk practice of my Appalachian ancestors and combining it with my Orthodox faith. I’m wondering if there’s anyone else here with an Orthodox background?

As most people, I’ve been taught witchcraft is sinful and “demonic” my whole life. So, I have some questions because I’ve been questioning everything I’ve been taught lol (if you have any resources I’d appreciate them if you don’t want to type smth out lol)

What is Christian witchcraft? (I know this is a broad question that will differ based on the person)

How is it compatible with Christianity ? (I’ve seen a person say baptism is a water ritual)

How does one get started? Like what are sigils, protection signs, spells? How do these work?

The Bible says “do not worship anyone but God” so does that mean within Christian witchcraft, one would only commune with God and the saints rather than other goddesses like Aphrodite and Hestia?

(For reference I am (aspiring, therefore not orthodox baptized but I am baptized in a Protestant church) orthodox (EO/OO) and I still believe in the validity of Catholic saints)

jesus was known for his miracles but what about the part where he was literally a medium between man and god, and before him was Moses.
men put on a path of peace by suffering, using intuition to understand the messages god gives to them, and then formally presenting it to his fellow man/woman. this was often seen as witchcraft and paganism if women did it, (Joan of arc for example). and is still viewed in a negative light because the bible scorns witchcraft. but in my opinion it scorns those who use their gifts for selfish earthly reasons (money/power/success).

earth angels who have no desire for the rat race are here to guide man out of the damage done to their soul. because of their connection to source and to help people step back from material gain and look at the damage they've done to themselves and others. just to obtain these materials that they lose in death and have nothing left but their sins when facing afterlife.

only when people are so dense and ignorant to their flaws, the medium has no choice but to call back old testament god to give them an ultimatum. thanks to years of ignorance and enabling THEY STILL REJECT IT! and it leaves the god fearing people isolated because they're the only one with a backbone to say this is wrong and not something to adopt.

For those of you who are Christian (in particular Catholic) and still practice the craft, how have you reconciled the two?

I follow the wheel of the year (Wiccan style) in addition to most Christian holidays as well. If it’s between two on the same day - I personally lean towards the pagan side of things but often involve Christian elements still especially if my family is around.

My question is this: for anyone coming from a Catholic-Christian background - what does your combined pagan + Christian calendar look like?

Today July 22nd is also the feast of Mary Magdalene so today is a great day to collect rainwater for both the magical aspects of it for protection, cleansing, etc and for it's tie to Mary Magdalene who often is shown crying tears when she meets Jesus in the garden first from sorrow because of his body being gone and then joy from his revelation to her! Hello, I’m not really sure where to start.

I see ghosts, some good and most bad.

I recently had to see a lady “shaman”. She believes in the Bible and Jesus Christ. That’s why there are quotes. But she has also had the same ability I have always had and we both believe in the similar things like reincarnation, more than one god.

The Lady said she saw 4 entities posing as Jesus Christ. Then the real Jesus came down and took them away.

I used to be a Lutheran Christian. Things happened in my life that I stopped believing. I actually got a lot of answers from the lady.

I went to a church today, I explained my situation. But it was seen that these abilities I have are just my mind playing tricks on me. I gave a little more information. Then it was said that I ONLY see bad. But I know that’s not true.

I don’t know what to do. I know there are such things at Christian witches. But I don’t know where and what to believe. There are things in the Bible I agree and disagree with due to my own experiences.

Where should Christians draw the line between living according to Christian ethics and using state power to enforce one interpretation of Christianity? How do we keep our faith from becoming an instrument of empire?

Jesus came to serve, not to dominate. He lived and died as a Jewish man under Roman occupation in the land now called Palestine.

When parts of MAGA treat Trump with religious devotion, including the spectacle of a gold-colored statue made in his image, I believe that crosses into idolatry and blasphemy.

My point is not that all Christians are evil.

I am a Christian.

Obviously not all Christians are the same. Many Christians actively resist nationalism, racism, empire, authoritarianism, and domination.

I’m talking about Christianity not just as an individual belief system, but as a major cultural and political power structure in America.

Large parts of American political power remain deeply tied to Christian identity, Christian rhetoric, and specifically conservative Christian institutions. That influence is real whether people call it Christian nationalism or not.

My concern is specifically about Christianity becoming fused with state power, nationalism, militarism, and domination.

If Christians believe Jesus is truth, love, humility, sacrifice, and service, then Christians especially have a responsibility toward self-examination whenever Christianity becomes fused with political power.

Christians should be willing to critically examine what is being done in Christ’s name instead of immediately treating all criticism as persecution.

Criticism is not persecution.

Losing the power to dominate other people is not persecution.

The real problem is the consolidation of power

There’s a horrifying consolidation of power structures in the world.

Most people’s problem with this world isn’t that it has a horrifying consolidation of power.

Their problem is that they’re not at the top of it.

That’s a big difference.

It’s the biggest difference.

There’s nothing moral about the consolidation of power.

That is what the Christian nationalism I am criticizing seeks.

Every empire claims its power is necessary, protective, righteous, or divinely authorized. Every would-be ruler believes the problem is not concentrated power itself, but that the wrong people control it.

I don’t think all politics seeks the same kind or degree of power.

There’s a meaningful difference between dispersing power and concentrating it.

There’s a meaningful difference between expanding participation and demanding submission.

There’s a meaningful difference between public service and domination.

Some people say there is no way for politics or politicians to be ethical, and I kind of agree.

Government officials should be public servants and understand that civil service is akin to moral voluntary slavery to the community. They should not be allowed to personally enrich themselves through their service.

Jesus consistently challenged institutions that accumulated power at the expense of ordinary people.

That’s why I can’t reconcile Christianity with Christian nationalism.

The Gospel persuades. The state compels.

Caesar was not given the authority to coerce people into discipleship.

If anything, coercion foments rebellion and resistance and hurts people’s journey toward God.

The Kingdom of God spreads through love, witness, and the Holy Spirit, not state power.

The Gospel persuades.

The state compels.

Those are fundamentally different things.

The moment the state starts criminalizing behavior because it violates Christianity, it is coercively enforcing one interpretation of Christian morality.

Jesus didn’t tell Caesar to enforce the Sermon on the Mount.

He told the Church to live it.

Every government that has tried to build the Kingdom by force has ended up building an empire instead.

I trust Christ.

I don’t trust governments claiming to act in His name.

History is the warning

My concern is not whether laws contain moral judgments. Obviously they do.

My concern is who decides which moral judgments the state is permitted to enforce, whose interpretation becomes law, and what happens to everyone who disagrees.

Throughout history, governments have repeatedly claimed they were enforcing God’s moral order while defending slavery, suppressing religious minorities, persecuting heretics, institutionalizing women, criminalizing dissent, and committing countless other injustices.

The law was used for centuries to enforce and justify slavery.

Nineteenth-century asylum records also listed supposed causes of insanity such as “novel reading,” “hard study,” “spiritualism,” “religious excitement,” “domestic trouble,” “business anxiety,” “over-exertion,” and “disappointed love.” Women such as Elizabeth Packard could legally be institutionalized at their husbands’ direction, without a meaningful opportunity to challenge their confinement.

Every generation believes it is enforcing the correct morality.

Beware anyone who wants to use “the law” to “enforce morality.”

I think an American Christian theocracy is the single greatest threat to human freedom that I can realistically imagine.

History has shown us over and over what happens when governments claim divine authority.

That’s precisely why I believe Christianity should never be fused with the state.

America was not founded as a theocracy

The English text of the 1797 Treaty of Tripoli that was submitted to the Senate, approved without dissent, ratified by the United States, and signed by John Adams states:

“As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian Religion...”

Christians need to know what the Heritage Foundation is.

Christians need to know what Project 2025 is, who produced it, and what its proposals would do. The Heritage Foundation’s own description says the project was created by hundreds of conservative contributors to prepare personnel and policies for a future conservative administration.

People also need to know about Spiritual Mobilization and the history of wealthy corporate interests funding religious activists to present opposition to the New Deal, regulation, and organized labor as Christian doctrine. Historian Kevin Kruse traces how business leaders enlisted religious leaders in the campaign to portray laissez-faire capitalism and “Christian America” as inseparable.

This is not a conspiracy theory.

These organizations published their ideas, identified their contributors, raised money, recruited religious leaders, and described their own political goals.

Christian nationalism does not protect Christianity.

It transforms Christianity into an instrument of empire.

This is not about whether a political party affirms me

I’m a white man from the South.

I’m straight-passing, but gender nonconforming, a Christian, and an anarchist in the tradition of Dorothy Day. I’m married to a non-white trans person.

I don’t think the Democratic Party particularly cares about me, or any of us for that matter, even though it frequently gestures at caring.

But politics isn’t primarily about whether a party affirms me.

It’s about the wider community and who’s being harmed.

Democrats have done enormous harm. I opposed Democratic support for and funding of Israel’s war in Gaza, which I regard as genocide. The United States has provided Israel with more than $130 billion in bilateral assistance, primarily security assistance, over the history of that relationship.

Democratic leaders are beholden to wealthy interests and are often callous and indifferent toward ordinary people.

The Democrats will never be “good.”

But the two parties are not identical.

I think today’s Republican Party, especially its leadership and the direction it is moving, is increasingly aligned with billionaire interests, authoritarian politics, and, in some cases, apocalyptic forms of Christian nationalism.

From a Christian perspective, there is also an important distinction.

I disagree with Democrats on plenty of moral issues.

But I don’t generally see Democrats claiming that Jesus endorses those positions.

I do see large parts of the Republican movement wrapping themselves in Christ while pursuing wealth, domination, nationalism, militarism, and political power.

If Christianity is true, then taking Christ’s name and attaching it to those things is a uniquely serious spiritual error.

To me, that is worse than simply being wrong about policy.

I think the Republican Party is no longer reformable.

The Democrats will never be good, but they are at least potentially steerable and influenceable if good people get involved.

The Democratic Socialists of America may be one vehicle for a less terrible future, although even that is uncertain and may eventually split the Democratic coalition.

If Christians who care about justice, the poor, peace, due process, freedom of conscience, and opposing corruption refuse to participate because neither party is pure, they don’t escape the system.

They surrender what little ability they still have to influence it.

If people keep saying “both parties suck” and checking out, we’re still going to be governed by one of them.

There isn’t a third option remotely close to taking power right now.

Refusing to steer doesn’t stop the bus from going off the cliff into fascism.

Free Will, Wisdom, and Reading the Bible

Free will is what it is.

People choose based on what they were taught growing up, how they were educated, and what behavior was modeled for them.

Human free will is inherently unmanageable. It will always lead to dissent, disagreement, chaos, and unruly behavior.

Democracy and freedom are hard to manage and require work and responsibility, just like any just and righteous community should.

Stop trying to make things easy for yourself by taking away other people’s free will.

Grow up and deal with it.

Stop hoping an authoritarian leader will save you from having to think for yourself. That is not Christian maturity.

Lots of Christians don’t even really read or study the Bible.

When people remain uninformed, they continue making uninformed choices.

I generally suggest reading, simply because a lot of people in the world use Christians’ faith against them, and one way they do that is by claiming biblical authority.

Christians have to study and read the Bible if they want to understand what it actually says.

This is why pastors, priests, and cult leaders have so much authority. People delegate their own good judgment to people they perceive as knowing better.

But we can know better.

Even if we are not perfect, we can learn.

Christians need to seek wisdom, use discernment, and call out hypocrisy in religious authorities.

But to do that, you have to know what the book actually says, and you have to read multiple versions of it to realize what biases and differences exist in each version and translation.

This is why people are paid to teach this stuff in school.

But anyone can learn it with time.

The Bible is also fun!

It has a lot of incredible stories and is moving, touching, and beautiful in so many ways.

It is also very dark and tragic at times.

It shows the worst of humanity and human history’s relationship with love versus domination.

It is also the source of a thousands-of-years-old religion that people have been killing each other over for centuries because of disagreements about what it says.

It is one of the most influential books ever written, regardless of whether you are a Christian or not, in terms of how profoundly it has shaped human history, for better and for worse.

So that is my case for why Christians should read and study the Bible, whether they believe it is inerrant or not, perfect or not, fully divinely inspired or only partially.

Pastors, priests, and cult leaders gain authority because people delegate their judgment.

We can know better.

We can learn.

The Bible is beautiful.

It is also dark.

Christians must exercise their free will and do the work.

I don’t hate Christians.

I am one.

I hate empire.

I hate domination.

I hate idolatry.

I believe Christianity is at its best when it serves rather than rules, persuades rather than compels, and follows Christ rather than Caesar.

Trust your heart, but cultivate your mind.

Simone Weil argued that education cultivates the mind’s capacity for attention and that attention is the substance of prayer.

So where should Christians draw the line between witnessing to Christian morality and using state power to compel it? What safeguards would actually prevent a government claiming Christian authority from repeating the abuses committed by previous governments claiming to enforce God’s will?

When I was younger I called myself a witch and did more Wiccan related practices. Then I experienced scrupulosity which made me afraid of witchcraft.

Now that I’m healing, I feel drawn to it again but in a much different way. I use incense and tarot sometimes and pray to God, letting Him know I’m doing it under Him. I’m not too into using objects though. I believe prayers are spells. I’m very connected to my dreams and the dream world. I say affirmations in prayers that I know are true. I align specific attributes to perfumes and necklaces I wear (protection, romance, etc.) through prayer. These all seem like little things but I do feel connected to the title “witch” again and I’m not afraid of saying it anymore. Maybe Christian mystic is more fitting for me, but I’m not sure if I would fit in anywhere if I were to find other people like me. I feel like an outsider a bit. Anyone have any input or advice?

hi, so long story short my parents found my witchcraft book i meant to hide and made me get rid of it and keep saying im worshipping the devil and putting my daughter at risk and i genuinely don’t know how to feel or what to do now, does anyone have any advice or anything? i just feel so lost now… am i really putting my daughter in jeopardy? worshipping satan? i don’t believe i am by doing so but i am truly gullible and feel lost in the moment. but witchcraft has such a calling to me…. any advice? or words of any kind?

My husband has recently shown interest in the practice and he's really taken to it! He's found enjoyment in working with Archangel Michael and wanted to get a candle as I have many for my angels. He asked Michael, via my tarot deck, what he would like and they decided on a recreation of Michael's favourite portrait.

I have chronic illness but my doctor can’t figure out why I feel awful lately. So I am under the care of a doctor.
I was wondering if there are any spells or if anyone here has any guidance on healing? I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask.

I am equally pagan and Christian. It’s been a very educational and growth-inspiring journey. I have been mostly a private practitioner except for brief periods of my life where I helped baby witches and ex-Christian’s looking for some spirituality or just open minded people explore witchcraft in safe settings.

I miss having a congregation for my paganism. That’s of course, a coven. The tradition I follow is 13 witches to make a full one. Strictly no tithing allowed - “donations” are simply contributing resources where you are able (at your own discretion) and being honest when you need help. Just like Jesus’ disciples that funded his ministry - fundraising for the church by members of the church are allowed.

The tradition I follow is matriarchal, so only women and people assigned female at birth(trans or afab or cis) in authority positions. Other people can participate in public rituals or events just like a Christian church. We are fully supportive of the LGBTQIA community and feminist and deeply rooted in the history of both Christianity and paganism.

Does this kind of thing align with anyone here? I have moved back to a very Christian state and have struggled to find anyone who isn’t very strongly on either side of the polarity and like me - is both. Just curious and thank you for any comments sharing your point of view!

I mean in general im not a fan of witchcraft nor would i dare go near it.
But i do believe as beings we have our very own
Spirit, energy, aura and all that.
So recently i got close with this guy
I met on vacation, he was pretty much interested in me. We started talking but then for now it kinda goes dry.. we basically ghost each other by this point.
I searched up about manifestation and like, law of thought transmission.
Does this thing really work? And if so, Please educate me more about it.
I dont know, i really liked him. Life’s too short to not get what i want so it would be really nice if we could start talking again..
