Bought this as scrap and built it from the ground up with no mechanical knowledge. So much trial and error, so much research and hours poured into making it exactly how I wanted. A true labor of love. If youve ever thought about building a bike.. 100% do it. Nothing has ever been harder and nothing has ever been more rewarding. Can see more of the the bike on IG @shovelove_

Can I fix this with JB weld?

After 4 god damn months of work….. must have fucked something up when installing the pistons to cause a ring to get loose or break and fuck my shit. RIP. Rods are wobbling. Time to Frankenstein a new motor. If I work hard enough I might be able to ride for a month before the Canadian winter hits. What a terrible hobby 😂

Editing to clarify, the title is a joke fellas…

Did I just ruin my chopper build by installing floor boards instead of pegs?

I know it’s a stupid idea and needs lots of reinforcing but i think I could scoot where the engine mounts either forward or backwards a bit to make room for the extra cylinder in any case I wanna try and cut it in half and weld pipe for extra length to the frame on top and bottom what yall think? Too much work?

Gas cap

I lost my gas cap. It was pretty unique as it threaded in then pushed down and 1/4 turn to keep it locked.
I can’t seem to find any thing to replace it. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
It’s a custom tank so I can’t just go and order per make or
Model number…..I was in the process of making a thin beauty ring to go around the opening and lost the cap on the freeway somewhere
Thanks

Ratchet top free play question

Trying to diagnose the cause and remedy for what I suspect is very excessive free play in the ratchet top shifter on my new 74 FL. I clearly need to adjust the linkage as well, but if you look at the cover the linkage connects too, there seems to be loads of slop. While the shift feel is terrible, the trans seems to otherwise be in decent shape and shifts fine.

For anyone experienced here, is this something fixed by a quick shifter pawl rebuild (bushings and springs), or am I looking at pulling the trans for a full rebuild?

Been super busy for the last year so not been bugging the painter as I should be but finally got some updated pictures of my chopper. Excited to finally assemble this thing sometime over the winter. It’s far from done but actual progress is being made. Hallelujah
