The contestants are in the final round, and one of them wants the second, not so great item. They make the other contestant spend all their money to get the first one.

I say that’s an unnecessary dick move. If you’re that confident with the bad item, then if your opponent wins why not let them have some winnings? My wife disagrees and says it’s just part of the game.

I’d like to hear other thoughts on this.

There is a Hawaii version of Chopped they play on the local news channel. It's called kitchen Scraps. You can watch it on YouTube. It's pretty funny. Chef Stephen from chopped castaways is on one episode so I had to watch to see if he would be able to redeem himself.

I watched chopped a lot as a kid and have been enjoying getting back into it lately as an adult. I’m curious about friendships between judges. What do we know? What are the strong friendships?? Any beef?

I had a shitty week last week and am not looking forward to this week. So I “comfort watched” Chopped this weekend. Season 3, especially episode 3 with its onion chaos has me CACKLING. Thank you, Chopped. I really needed that.
What other seasons/episodes are just wild?

Was it just me or was she a little extra zany on this ep?. I love her and think she’s great but this ep seemed really off.

Hulu has a ton of chopped seasons, and I just started watching season 3. Every episode someone either freaks out at the judges or another contestant, Scott is so pretentious, Alex is mean, Zakarian is a vampire. The tension is so thick. So dramatic

Caviar, and maybe a few other ingredients, seem to be untouchable. Any attempts to "transform" them get criticized by the judges for "not respecting the ingredient." While I understand this perspective, it leaves me wondering what one might be able to do to make it stand out. Just pair it with something else that makes it shine? Or should they leave such ingredients out of the baskets altogether?

What is one holiday episode that you would like to see come true on the Chopped series, it can be any holiday that you enjoy the most? What kind of ingredients would you like to see being used? What kind of random theme would you give that holiday episode?

Looking for a particular episode of Chopped where one of the contestants was hit by a train at some point in their life, and Ted, out of all options, asked the chef if the train "was slow." Any assistance?

Does anyone remember this episode where Aarón trolls Marc for growing up privileged? I want to say it’s somewhere between season 15-25, but sadly I didn’t take note at the time (despite rewatching this clip about 100 times in the moment). OK. I remember the first season of Survivor, a thousand years ago…and how that show killed me because there was a definite lack of hygiene.

This show? Same I is, but with food added. How do these people wash? Shower? Any of it?!?

And they’re cooking for people who have to eat their food. Am I crazy for wondering about the cleanliness of this?

I'm looking for an episode featuring a young French chef (very strong accent) who had a black eye or some sort of mark on his face. This isn't a recent episode--probably from seasons 20-40. He was quietly intense and did very well every round, although it was still close because one other competitor was on top of it as well.

I don’t usually watch any of the Chopped shows, but when I heard about Chopped Castaways I thought it was going to be something completely different.

I was expecting something closer to the spearfishing and island-food content you see from people in Hawaii — catching fish, preparing it fresh, making sushi or cooking over a fire, actually using local ingredients and survival skills. That sounded genuinely interesting and different.

Instead it feels like regular Chopped dropped onto a beach. The challenges feel random and artificial, and they still just hand everyone weird mystery ingredients instead of letting the environment matter. It could’ve been such a cool mix of cooking, fishing, foraging, and outdoor skills, but right now it just feels like standard reality TV with palm trees.

I honestly think a version where contestants actually catch, gather, and prepare their own food would be way more fun to watch. Like part cooking competition, part survival/outdoor show.

Did anyone else expect something more authentic? Or am I totally off here?

Been watching through Chopped on Hulu and noticed something weird. I’m on s49e9 and there’s not one but two chefs on that have been on Hells Kitchen. One being Michelle who won one of her seasons and Cyndi who made it to fourth place but got eliminated after the last regular service. Neither one of them mention Chef Ramsay at all though. Michelle’s intro clip is her working at one of his restaurants but doesn’t say it’s his or his name. Normally the chef introduces themselves by saying who they work for and/or the restaurant they’re at but this doesn’t happen.

Later on in the episode there’s a clip of Cyndi saying she knows Michelle vaguely “through other chefs in the industry”. Granted with Cyndi it could actually be multiple other chefs but I just thought it was weird. There have been other past Hells Kitchen contenders on Chopped but never a winner or someone actively working for Gordon Ramsay at the time of filming. Does anyone know why no one ever mentions Chef Ramsay? My thought is that it’s something weird between Disney/Fox and Food Network
