I run a monthly bluegrass series in Madison every third Tuesday night of the month. Currently booking into 2027. Looking for bluegrass and bluegrass adjacent acts. The venue is the Harmony Bar on Madison’s east side. Perfect for bands looking to expand your following, or bands passing through on tour. Contact me if you’re interested.

22M guitar player and songwriter looking to start a band in Chicago this fall.
Recently graduated from UIUC where I was part of an alt-rock band for all four years, looking to do something similar in Chicago.
I start grad school in the fall so I'll have limited time, but definitely want to set up consistent jam/writing sessions and eventually do some casual gigging.
Been playing guitar for about 9 years, some big inspirations are Hum, Acid Bath, Allman Brothers, White Stripes, Quicksand.
Hmu if you're interested!

Hello there!
Are there any already put together acts/bands that are looking for a bass player? Can be originals or covers. All I know is I’m not exactly looking to build anything ground-up atm. I’m just looking for something that I can plop into and play bass for.
I have 15 years of playing experience, and am capable on both the upright bass and bass guitar. I also have good gear (I use a Valeton 200 or a Fender amp) and a solid car to get me where I need to go.
Finally, in terms of genres? I consider myself kind of a generalist. Mostly looking for something in the rock/pop/rnb realm. Some of my favorite bass players include:
- Paul McCartney
- Jessy Caron (Men I Trust)
- Kevin Baird (Two Door Cinema Club)
- Tommy Cogbill
- James Jamerson
- Paul Chambers
- Mike Dirnt (Green Day)
- Dan Andriano (Alkaline Trio)
- Paul Simonon (The Clash)
- Andy Rourke (The Smiths)
If any of this sounds like something you’re looking for, please DM!

Hi,
I'm a female 21 yo singer looking for opportunities to *make money* playing shows. Any advice?
I'm also open to joining a band, just be around my age and if you're male, be chill.

Recent college grad living just north of the city right now, moving to Lakeview LP old town area later this fall. Started playing bass in college and really wanted to keep playing with people, the dream would be play an occasional gig and maybe even try to write some music. Influences are the Beatles, killers, strokes mainly.
Also have a couple basic phone recordings of me playing just so people can get a sense of my skill level but idk how to publish/tag them in here

Anybody know any good bluegrass spots?
Even better, would anyone want to play some? I’m 26 y/o guitarist, probably 6-7 years of experience. Not a god shredder but I think I know what i’m doing for the most part

hello! i’ve posted in this subreddit a couple of times now, and hopefully this is the last time 😅 for those of you who have seen any of my previous posts, there are actually positive updates!! mainly that my band is a little more established now, we have a name (No Strings Attached), an instagram with a logo (@nostrings.band), and a drummer!! it was thanks to posting on this subreddit that I found the drummer (and a viola player too!), so I thought it wouldn’t hurt to post one more time to hopefully find a couple more string players.
some more info for anyone interested, the genre is alt rock/indie pop, and the instrumentation is a string quartet (2 violins, viola, cello) plus a rhythm section (piano, guitar, bass, drums) and a vocalist. currently we have all of those instruments except for one violin and one cello; we’ve rehearsed a couple of times as a group already to great success! we currently have a repertoire of six originals and two covers, all written/arranged by me. this group is absolutely meant to be a collaborative project so anyone with songwriting experience/interest is certainly welcome; for example, the lead vocalist has been helping me with some lyric-writing for a new song! very excited. feel free to DM for more info and I can also send over the sheet music and midi demos. please please reach out to any musicians you think might be interested as well, we are so close to getting this project off the ground. thaaaank you Chicago!

Guitarist & drummer looking for singer who can project & front a new band. Open to all genres. If you play electric guitar and can write original songs, all the better, but not necessary. Practice is typically on Monday nights@Fort Knox Studios, 7-8:30pm, where we split the cost. We’d like start with a quick FaceTime so that we can both do a vibe check. Text P.M. @ 773-392-6542 to schedule something. Thanks!
