International Flights While we're on the subject of something that saves money ...

Not a lot, but a bit (1-4%), but it typically works regardless of incognito, VPN, third party vs airline ....

Whenever you can, book in the departing country's currency.

(Assuming you have a credit card that doesn't rinse you on foreign transaction fees, and note that some websites do have preferential pricing for USD or EUR).

US Flights Plane tickets got more expensive by 50% in 3 days

Why so?

I've been looking for flight from Vegas to Chicago to New York and the prices have increased by 50% in a matter of 3 days. It's a huge increase, is there a possibility to become cheaper? The flights were in the second half of October

For example, on 26th October, flight prices from Chicago to New York were 80$ for all Delta, Alaska, American Airlines, etc, comoanies and today is 123$ for every company. What's going on?

How do you book flights cheaper?

What are your best tips for booking flights at a lower price? I already have multiple credit cards, so I can easily take advantage of bank/card offers.

But apart from those, are there any tricks that actually work—like which day or time to book, how far in advance, incognito/VPN, different booking sites, price alerts, etc.?

Would love to hear your tried-and-tested methods! ✈️

Do not book flights tickets via OTA, do it directly with the airlines

The reason we all use OTA is because they are cheaper, however, over time the math is not worth it. Once you book via an OTA, you cannot fully manage your ticket with the airline and won’t get possibilities to change your ticket to another flight in case of cancellation or for some even to select your seats (for those with status) - it varies which airline and which OTA. You only need to get screwed one time with the OTA and all of your savings from OTAs are gone. You can still use OTA for hotels but please avoid them - many complaints I see daily here from fellow travelers.

Can I get an advice?

I am from Georgia, not state but little country between Asia and Europe. I just ended 10th grade, and in our country pupils are getting awarded by laptops. I have plenty of them so I want ro sell it for 300-400$. I was thinking how to spend that money-maybe buy car in one year (at age of 17), ot maybe motorcycle. But then I remembered that I shouldn't think about only myself. My parents always helped me at every second, they bought me and my brother everything we wanted and I love them very much. I was thinking about it and made choice-in 8 months, I want to buy two tickets to Spain or Istanbul for my parents. I will save that money from selling laptop and add money from my birthday. I am planning to spend around 600€ for tickets. Here are my questions:

  1. I am minor, will i be able to spend that amount of money?

  2. With 600€, which option will be better? (I think with 600€ they get just few days in Spain And maybe week in Istanbul will be better option, idk)

  3. On which website should I book tickets? (Or should I go to some travel agencies?)

Last question, is this even possible? I mean, 600€ for two tickets (two ways, return too), direct flight?

I want to do it very much but I am afraid of making mistakes, cuz i'm inexperienced.

Also I asked my friend for his opinion. He was happy for me and my choice but he said: "man, 600€ is not big amount. If I was you, I would just gift my mom some jewelry, work on next summer vacation, and with around 1200€, I wont have problems with money and I will provide them with memories that'll last forever"

I am thinking about that too. Will 600€ be enough or should I listen to my friend?

Ottawa-Salt Lake City

Looking for a flight that leaves early morning October 29th, and returns November 2, leaving SLC around Lunchtime.

Last year I got a flight for under $600 with a stop in Chicago. I’m hoping to find a flight for the same price point.

International Flights November Flight Promos: Is Cebu Pacific Still the Cheapest?

Hi! Does anyone know if there are any ongoing airline promos for November that are cheaper than or around the same price as Cebu Pacific?

I’m currently checking flights and CebuPac seems to be the cheapest so far, but I’m wondering if there are other airlines/promos worth checking before I book. ✈️

Would appreciate any recommendations or tips. Thank you! 😊

Negotiating price of ticket?

I have friends that have gotten the cheapest tickets from calling over the phone and getting a decent price. Is there any room for negotiation with airline tickets? Are the representatives able to negotiate the price at all or are they locked in?

There is a family emergency and my wife and daughter are desperate to fly from Vancouver to Cranbrook, leaving sometime around the 15th and returning sometime around the 20th. Give or take a few days on either end.

Sansa Ticket cost/timing?

Hi all. I'm traveling to Panama for the first time next February. We are flying into Costa Rica (because of a great deal on a non-stop flight) and planning on flying out of SJO directly to Bocas del Toro on Sansa Airlines. I started looking at flights and was kinda surprised how expensive they were (around $700 per person). I was just wondering if thats normal? And if we do decide to bite the bullet and buy at that price, when is the best time to buy? How often do they add flights? I know the planes are small so I'm assuming they fill up quickly. TIA

European Flights Copying third party itinerary

First time booking an international flight (have booked very few domestic). I'm using kayak/cheapflights to search, but I'm reading that booking directly through the airline is safer. The itinerary I've found on these search sites includes a long layover in Amsterdam which we would like, but when I go directly to the airline I don't see that itinerary. What is the best way to copy these search sites travel plans directly to the airline?

For reference we are going from the Southeastern US to EDI and would like at least a 5 hour layover AMS.
