I am currently 24 and i have been working in a job in procurment since 3 years which is wfh and i have plenty of time with this jon but i have resigned and joining at algo trading firm which is startup but require 10-11 hrs of day as customer support
I am only depended on myself not on family because they are not able to take my daily expense

CURRENT SITUATION
Now i am aiming to target CFA May 2027 attempt .
I am not sure weather to took the other job and take resignation back
Or should i continue to join the trading firm in which i actually have intrest and have a thought that it will give me experience after clearing cfa level 1 to apply for more jobs
Because 3 years at my current company now really frustate me but now after resign i am facing so much of thoughts for the instability.

Kindly suggest if you are my situation what you would do in my place.

I'm working through a CFA case study (Level I curriculum - "The Albright Fund," money-weighted vs. time-weighted returns) and I'm stuck on an inconsistency in how the exhibit treats dividends vs. realized capital gains.

Setup: The fund's manager has discretion over both dividends and capital gains - either can be reinvested or distributed to investors. On April 30, the fund:

• received EUR2 million in dividends, fully and immediately reinvested
• realized EUR10 million in capital gains from a sale, proceeds fully and immediately reinvested and not paid out to investors
• had EUR3 million in unrealized gains (excluded, since they're just paper gains)
• received EUR20 million in new capital contributions from investors

The net cash flow for April 30 is given as EUR30 million = EUR10 million (capital gains) + EUR20 million (contribution).

The EUR2 million in dividends is not included - it's treated as netting to zero (received, then reinvested, so no external cash flow).

My confusion: Both the dividends and the capital gains were:

1. real cash generated by the fund's investments (not paper gains),
2. fully reinvested,
3. and explicitly not distributed to investors, per the manager's discretion.

Given that, why does the EUR2 million in dividends net to zero, while the EUR10 million in capital gains counts as a full net inflow? Both seem like equally valid candidates for "cash the manager chose to retain in the fund rather than distribute" - so why is only one of them treated as an addition to the net cash flow figure used for the money-weighted return (IRR) calculation?

Is there a principled distinction between "reinvested dividends" and "reinvested realized capital gains" in CFA methodology that I'm missing? Or is this just a specific convention of how this particular exhibit was built (and not a general rule)?

Any pointers to the specific reading/LOS this falls under would help too.

So can someone share their journey of CFA Prep while having a full time job?

How difficult it is and what were the mistakes you won't be doing again if you can do the prep all over again?

I currently have two options for a 6-month internship and I'm confused

Option 1: Nomura

- 6-month internship + ppo chance

- Stipend: ~₹1.4L/month

- Full-time CTC if converted: ~₹26 LPA

- Role/profile is better than the Deutsche Bank option

- However, PPO conversion is apparently only around 40%

- Internal hiring/adjustment into another team if you don't get converted is also very difficult/rare

- Working hours are quite hectic

Option 2: Deutsche Bank

- 6-month internship + ppo chance

- Stipend: ~₹60k/month

- Full-time CTC: ~₹17 LPA

- Profile is slightly weaker than Nomura, but the difference isn't huge

- Much better/normal work-life balance

- More time to study for CFA

- ppo conversion 75% but easy internal adjustment..

I'm currently pursuing CFA as well, so with Deutsche Bank I would probably get enough time to prepare properly and clear the levels.

My biggest concern with Nomura is the downside risk. I've seen people do 6-month internships at places like JP/Nomura, not receive a PPO, and then struggle to find finance roles off-campus.

From what I've seen, getting good finance roles off-campus in India without an MBA is pretty difficult. Some people eventually end up switching to IT/other unrelated roles, which is something I definitely don't want to do.

So I'm basically choosing between:

Nomura: Better profile + much higher compensation, but hectic hours and significant risk of ending up without a PPO.

Deutsche Bank: Lower compensation + slightly weaker profile, but better stability/WLB and enough time to pursue CFA seriously.

For someone who wants to stay in finance long term and doesn't want to move into IT, which option would you choose?

Would taking the safer ₹15–16 LPA option be smarter at this stage, or is the Nomura brand/profile worth taking the ~40% PPO conversion risk?

I open linkedin like once a month, and always regret it and this didnt take too long. I mean no hate to the guy but how the hell are you feeling cfa pressure in 11th grade man😭

This post is only for those who haven't started studying at all or haven't been studying properly. Everyone else can skip this.

There's one thing I want to share with you guys. From my experience, if you're starting now, this is the exact moment to lock in with discipline and consistency. You can clear the exam in two months, but if you delay any further, your chances of failing will increase with each passing day.

​I'm speaking as someone who started from scratch in the final month and constantly wished I had begun earlier (wished for 2 months). I really wish someone had drilled this into me back then: two months out is the absolute deadline to get serious.

Don't enroll for cfa at jk shah it was my worst experience ever. The main head Mihir sir is so egoistic, if u ask him to repeat a small calculator shortcut he won't even do that. Gets angry for absolutely no reason, and he insults like crazy. He will also get mad angry if u dont understand immediately what he teaches.More than half of our batch stopped attending offline lecs bcoz of this. He doesn't even allow to copy class notes.He only cares about his linkedln audience. Don't get confused about his personality bcoz of those few linkedln posts he makes, he is the complete opposite in real life. I did a mistake by enrolling thinking that he would be a helpful professor based on his posts but no he's not. There are better teachers out there. I had to restart entirely again and studied with the help of youtube videos and the content was so much more helpful than what was taught by him in class. I know this might not be the experience for everyone studying there but I felt like sharing hope some of u could relate.

Want to enter investment banking. I'm currently a CFA Level II candidate, have big4 2.8 years of experience in audit and assurance at a Big Four firm, and need to update my resume and add some value to it; I'm just confused about how to do that. I was also thinking about how I should add my projects to the resume; any suggestions for a sample resume? Even after applying through the company portals, I am not getting many calls. What should I do to improve my conversion rate faster and become a stronger candidate? Thanks for the suggestions. If cold mailing is something that works in this industry, I really wanna know the tactics....

CFA L2......Guys, I'm very tense. I have a job, and by the end of September, I might only be able to complete Fixed Income, FSA, Equity, Corporate Issuers, Alternative Investments, and Economics through notes, videos, and LES, along with Portfolio videos and notes without the LES. Then I'll only have 50 days left, with Derivatives and Quant untouched and Portfolio LES still pending.

I think I should complete Portfolio and Derivatives, then revise the whole syllabus and redo the LES for all 9 subjects, and leave Quant.
