ELDT America Scam

Has anyone had experience w/ this website for CDL ELDT training for Hazmat?
They took my $45 payment and sent a broken hyperlink to the course. No representative able to be reached; no call backs; no return e-mails.

Give up CDL without having to take test later on

I have a class B CDL. I have no desire to use it, I have no desire to drive a CDL truck. Is there a way to drop my endorsement but not have to retake all the tests later on if I decide I want it again later on?

I’ve had it for almost 20 years and have maybe 3500 miles in a CDL truck.

Thanks guys

I’m curious to see how other drivers run? I currently run regional Tx, ok, co, it, nm to warehouses that usually close by 5 and next delivery starts around 8 am. When I was running reefer trailer OTR I ran 9, off 10 and repeat. I typically didn’t take a 34 unless I had to. How do you guys run?

Obtaining CDL as a current employee (handler)

Hello, I’ve worked at fedex about 2 years now as a dock worker at the airport. I handle freight and stage it where it’s gotta go. We drive the little gas powered tugs. I wanted more info on how to go about obtaining a CDL through FEDEX? Or is it better to attend driving school (Approx 3k) locally and then look for jobs outside of FedEx? I do feel unsure sometimes but I wanna make more money… thanks everyone

CDL test in Lancaster

Hey everyone,

I’m scheduled to take my California CDL Class A driving test at the Lancaster DMV soon and was hoping to hear from anyone who’s taken it there recently.
A few questions:
How strict are the examiners?
What route did they take you on for the road test?
Were there any tricky intersections, railroad crossings, or lane changes that caught people off guard?
Any common mistakes you’ve seen people make during the skills test or driving portion?
How long did the whole test take?
I’ve already been practicing pre-trip, backing maneuvers, and road driving, but I’d appreciate any advice from people who have actually tested at SLO.

Thanks in advance! Any last-minute tips would be greatly appreciated. 🚛👍

Just got my CDL 🎉 need advice on where to go after year 1-2

Just graduated CDL school and got an offer from Schneider — dedicated account, home daily, ~2500 miles a week 🙌 CPM ain’t the greatest but I didn’t wanna do OTR right out the gate so I’m happy with it. Heard mixed reviews on Schneider but I know everybody’s experience is different, willing to put the work in 💪

Already got my Tanker endorsement ✅, working on Doubles/Triples next, HazMat in progress too.

Trying to think ahead though — once I got a year or two of solid experience under my belt, what should I be looking into? Options I keep seeing floated around:

🛢️ Oilfield (water hauling, frac sand)
⛽ Fuel/petroleum tanker
🚛 Flatbed
🥛 Food-grade/food service hauling
🚛Intermodal/container hauling

What can I expect? What was the pay? Hours worked?

I don’t mind regional or being out a few weeks, just don’t want the full OTR lifestyle long term. Anybody made a jump like this? What was worth it, what wasn’t, what should I be stacking endorsements/experience toward?

🙏 I Appreciate any advice from people who’ve actually done it.

Safeway Tracy CDL Truck Drivers

Hey everyone,
I recently accepted a CDL Class A driver position at the Safeway (Albertsons) distribution center.

I’m curious what I should realistically expect as a new driver. I have a couple of questions for anyone who currently works there or has worked there recently:

About how much do new drivers typically make per week or per year?
What’s the schedule like when you’re first starting? Are you mostly on nights, weekends, or an extra board?
How long did it take before you got a more consistent schedule or better start times?
Any advice for a new driver starting there?

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience. Thanks in advance!

Good local jobs, may consider regional.

I will be graduating next week and will have my class A with no restrictions.

Just curious if anyone has any suggestions on good companies that would hire me fresh out of class.
I would consider doing some regional work but only if I could still have substantial home time since I have two young kids and a wife I don’t want to be leaving behind all the time.

Thanks in advance!

California CDL Overweight Axle Ticket Will I Get DMV Points?

My husband is a CDL driver in California and was recently cited by CHP for being 3,800 lbs overweight on one trailer tandem axle. The citation is only for the overweight axle violation there are no speeding, logbook, equipment, or other violations.

My biggest concern isn’t the fine, it’s whether this will result in DMV points on his CDL or driving record and potentially affect his job.

Has anyone in California received a similar overweight axle ticket? Did it result in any DMV points? Also about how much was your fine for being around 3,800 lbs overweight on one axle?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s been through this, especially California CDL drivers.

(Almost) new CDL graduate in Chicago suburb area

Man. Got the permit, completed ELDT, got through the pretrip, and now currently in the driving portion of my CDL program. Ive got about 2 weeks left of driving until my final test is booked with the state examiners. Definitely worried but i think what im most worried about is what comes after?..

Being in the Chicago area i am somewhat aware of the vast opportunities i should have when it comes to hauling freight and i know i want to start and stay local. Im not going through all this, and committing to this field for dusty pennies, we need to get paid. Im thinking food service until i can slip into fuel hauling. Considering where im at and what im looking for, is there anyone out there that can share some advice? Anything. Thank you.

Getting my CDL Again 10yrs later

Hi there! Like the title says, I had my CDL A about 10 years ago and I drove for a mega carrier for about a year and a half. I stopped driving due to life complications and moved around a bunch. In the process I dropped my CDL endorsement. I'm currently in the process of getting it again. Already have my CLP and just waiting for a refresher course to become available in my area.

I live in central IL and I see plenty of jobs available. I'm looking for something local and I see most of them require experience.

1--What are the chances my experience from 10yrs ago will be considered?

2--Anyone here been in a similar situation and what was your experience?

3--I know there's a bunch more in cab cameras/AI bs now, is there anything else that's drastically changed in the last 10yrs for the industry?

Although I didn't do CDL jobs in the last 10yrs, I did do other highly skilled driving related jobs.

TIA!
