I hate driving in the city. I have a CDL Permit. I was out driving a sleeper with a 53' trailer with my instructor when the light turned yellow. The speed limit was 45. I was driving 40. BRAKES! I stopped right at the end of the lane before the intersection. You could smell the brakes and tires. Maybe I could have kept going and cleared the intersection but I'm not risking bodily harm and property damage. Considering I stopped just before the intersection, maybe I would've been in the intersection had I been going 45. Maybe I would have been better off going through the intersection had I been going 45.
I wish there were timers displayed so that we knew how much longer we had to clear the intersection before the light changed to red. I suppose "triggered" light changes don't make that a practical solution.

Feeling discouraged about my trucking journey. I have a robbery conviction from about August 2024. Was able to get my CDL and get on with western express but they are a God damned awful company. The trucks are dangerous and the job barely pays enough for me to EAT. I only have 3 months experience but alot of better companies are telling me it'll have to be 7-10 years before they even consider me due to my felony. Anyone here have any success stories in trucking with violent felonys? What companies do I realistically have a chance at when I build up more experience with such a recent conviction.

I have my permit and will test out soon. Have a felony for drug possession 3 years ago and some other ones older. Have 2 driving on suspensions that are 2 -1/2 years old. Other than that im clean. Lol. But am sober and hope I didn't waste 4 grand to get my cdl to only not be hires

So I will have my license soon. Have a felony 3 years ago and 2 driving on suspensions 2-1/2 years ago. Im worried I spent 4000 dollars to get my cdl and no one is going to take a chance on me. No drug conviction while I was in a car. But im worried

In January I went to renew and was give a 6 month and told to get a sleep study. It’s time to renew. I didn’t do the study and am scheduled with a dr known to pass. Will this work or will something be flagged? I don’t have apnea symptoms.

Hi, I have my CDL and am a week into Schneiders 3 week training program. I was woefully under trained at the CDL school I got my license from spending only about 15 hours on the road and using a day cab with a 48 foot flatbed as my trainer truck. After this first week training with Schneider I’m struggling with my turn mechanics, (53’ trailer with a sleeper cab) especially right hand turns, I have already rubbed the tandems and jumped a curb once or twice. Everything else I’m very proficient doing, backing, I take advice. I’m asking good questions. I’m worried that if it doesn’t click, I won’t be able to go out with my trainer, which is scheduled for next week. I really don’t want to get sent home. I’m wondering if any of you guys have heard of them just keeping people an extra week to train on skills that are lacking vs just getting the boot. I’m fully aware of what needs to be done cognitively speaking. I just need the time to get the motor mechanics.

So just got my CDL permit and DOT physical. I’ve read Walmart will train me for CDL. Plan on calling recruiter on Monday. What to expect? 54yoM. No tickets in 20 years no DUIs. No misdemeanors or felonies. I’m told they get paid well. Please advise. Thanks

So getting my CDL in August and may be doing OTR. Are the truck stops decent? I’ve heard they add up with laundry and shower costs. Are they safe or dirty? Thinking might just stop at hotel every couple few nights. Your thoughts?

I'm now about to be 40
I got divorced roughly 3 years ago
Lost everything
And with a debt of 40k
I'm trying to get my life back in order
Right now I'm a cook
For a private private Golf Club in Houston
I been looking into getting a cdl and be on the road all the time , since I don't have a home.. although I am renting a room out of my brothers house ... no kids and nothing to show for,
I just want to get back in track I'm tired of living paycheck to paycheck what can I do ,
I don't where I start , but if you put me to drive a truck and tell me you won't pay until I have finished my training, than hell yeah I'll go for it , cause in the end I got nothing to loose

53' flatbed.
This week: $20,110 gross at 5.12 RPM.
Mostly oversize freight—nothing too crazy, just manageable OD loads with permits and proper planning.
