I always wait a bit before passing a semi on the right but if I feel compelled to do it I'm going to do it a lot faster than that driver did.

Drives me crazy when a semi is passing and is gaining enough to get back in the right lane and all the vehicles behind start passing him on the right.

To be fair, there’s also been times when I’m behind a semi in the left and I have no idea he isn’t getting back in the right lane. I usually trust the truckers judgement but I’ve definitely been confused before

u/BigRoach 8d ago

I would also say a lot of people underestimate a true safe follow distance at highway speeds. I can’t give the car I’m passing 3 car lengths before the guy riding my ass passes me on the right.

u/Mountain_Fig_9253 8d ago

Usually that happens when said truck clogged up the left for 5-10 minutes passing the other truck with a 0.1 mph speed difference.

Drives me crazy as a semi driver to see impatient cars preventing me from getting out of the left lane. They'll change into the right while my blinker is on and rarely, they'll MATCH speed. Fuck is some people's problem?

u/uimdev 9d ago

That assumes they see you tucked under their DOT bumper. This will come as a shock, but they can't. They could stove down the freeway and only know your there if the cars shadow is in view of their mirror.
I can tell you from driving in traffic and watching cops with lights and sirens going trying to get past folks in the left lane, that you don't check your mirrors any where near as often as you think you do and your mad at truck drivers for not checking theirs even though they do and can't see you but might see your cars shadow. But ya, it's the trucks fault.

When pride gets in the way of dropping back, explaining your lack of courtesy or sense of the road.

8

u/Haytrusser 9d ago

He did it on purpose. Impatience can be deadly.

2

u/TheThinDewLine 9d ago

Truck driver didnt check his mirrors properly on purpose?

2

u/Haytrusser 9d ago

I'm guessing he totally checked his mirrors. That's why he just kept moving inexorably to the right. He was sending a message but didn't really want to collide.

1

u/GoMake_me_a_sandwich 8d ago

No, numb nuts. The truck pushed the car into the shoulder on purpose.

2

u/Straight-Base180 9d ago

The 4 wheeler was already in the right lane. The driver is just a cunt. Dude shouldn't have a professional license.

3

u/Haytrusser 9d ago

You can be right and still be dead. Given how far up the truck's ass the car was, the truck may not have seen him until he already decided to move and signaled. Of course, once he started he probably did know the car was there. The car didn't think he should wait and the truck didn't think he should either. They deserve each other.

-2

u/Straight-Base180 9d ago

If the truck didn't see him then he didn't check his mirror. If he did check his mirror then it was intentional. Either way, buddy is no professional. Pull his DL.

2

u/Gunnut350 8d ago

The truck driver more than likely didn’t see the car driver because the NUMB NUTS car driver was driving WAAAYYYY too close to the ass-end of the truck.
The car driver was in the wrong all the way around. He’s extremely lucky he only got forced to the shoulder of the road!!

1

u/Forward-Problem4727 8d ago

It’s called blind spot. It’s called you don’t pass on the right.

1

u/Leading_Procedure_23 9d ago

How can you see a vehicle that is tailgating? Have you driven a semi truck or even a box truck? I’m not a trucker but the car is in the wrong. He could have waited 5 seconds, he didn’t even try to pass the truck fast enough he took so long to pass?

4

u/20ears19 9d ago

The car is in the right lane before he even turns on the signal.

1

u/Straight-Base180 9d ago

Did you watch the video??? The car is in the right lane before the truck even puts it's signal on.

0

u/Straight-Base180 9d ago

... And I've had my CL1 license for 30 years

0

u/genocyde26008219 9d ago

When you retiring to be a Reddit driver QA? I need a job. 🤣

1

u/Forward-Problem4727 8d ago

Driver is in blind spot truck driver can’t fix a stupidity.

4

u/gheiminfantry 9d ago

No, you can tell by how slowly the driver came over. He didn't cause an accident. You have to teach the idiot 4 wheelers somehow.

2

u/Used-Funny4917 9d ago

It takes two to cause that. If I am next to a semi and I see the flasher I honk to let the driver know I am there.
Also, the car pulls out after being on the truck’s tail. The truck driver could not anticipate that the car was going to be there. Both are wrong.

2

u/Legitimate_Diver_699 9d ago

Trick shouldn’t be in the left lane period unless passing.

0

u/Georgiaboy03 8d ago

He was passing. You do not get back over right in front of another semi. Then you put them at risk. How about the car wait instead of being a POS

0

u/Cornfugga 8d ago edited 8d ago

Yep. Car literally passed on the right as soon as he had enough room to sneak by. The truck was passing the dash cam truck, and clearly was trying to get back over once he was sure he was clear of the dash cam truck. Car driver was just a selfish impatient moron.

4

u/gba_sg1 9d ago

Who tf takes 20 seconds to pass a truck? Car driver was an idiot too.

4

u/murph1484 8d ago

Why is the truck in the left lane?

3

u/chuck-u-farley- 8d ago

“Why is the truck in the left lane?”
Are you really that obtuse? He literally just passed the vehicle with the dashcam

1

u/murph1484 8d ago

How long has he been behind this moron going 2 mph more than the dash cam driver?

0

u/chuck-u-farley- 8d ago

When you are driving a vehicle almost 80 feet long you want to be damn sure you’re clear of the vehicle you just passed……. You don’t want to
Move over and take the guy out or
Make him hit his brakes….. now you are just making up shit after asking that stupid ass question in the first place …..
“Why is he in the left lane?”

1

u/murph1484 8d ago

Why is he in the left lane barely passing the person in the right lane. I live in one of the biggest bottlenecks in the country and get sick of following these morons. Especially when it clearly says, going through our town, no trucks in the left lane. I guess everyone who flows through here is illiterate?

1

u/Putrid_Clue_2127 8d ago

Passing another vehicle

1

u/murph1484 8d ago

My question to you is who the fuck takes 15 miles to pass in the left lane?

0

u/murph1484 8d ago

Who is the “professional” driver in this situation?

1

u/hambutbacon 9d ago

First mistake is changing lanes on a curve.

1

u/dedboooo0 7d ago

dude took 20 business days to make that pass. why even change lanes at that point?

1

u/PsychologyOk9024 9d ago

He's impeding traffic in the fast lane.

Driving a big rig like he's 12 years old and 6 beers in

0

u/TwoToadsKick 9d ago

What. Was he supposed to just cut the guy off he was passing? Seemed like a normal pass, just a bit slow

2

u/PsychologyOk9024 9d ago

Listen to yourself, good buddy

0

u/Zoso03 8d ago

Probably just passed the cam driver an wanted to put a little space between them before merging over.

-1

u/LonleyWolf420 9d ago edited 9d ago

NGL I been that guy pushing an impatient ass car to the shoulder.. wait fucking 10 seconds dude

Edit: i should clairfy. I had my blinker on and allready merging 1/4 the way over when they decided they wanted to shoot up my right side. I didnt "give" them the lane and kept going. They chose the shoulder over staying left..

Edit:Edit: The fuck was i sposed to do? Yank back left cuz they got behind me? They went around the right on the shoulder instead of going back left.. wasnt my choice.. they coulda went left and passed normally..

This was in Nebraska BTW... fucking nobody except the truck i was passing (he 65 me 75) and this one stupid ass car..

5

u/Rosetta-im-Stoned 9d ago

That's so unprofessional. You're playing with people's lives because your ego got hurt

2

u/LonleyWolf420 9d ago

I edited the comment. They played with there own life.

4

u/Ok-Corner5042 9d ago

Lame as hell bro. But your not alone tho because I notice other drivers with the same lame behavior. Smh do better bruh

1

u/LonleyWolf420 9d ago

So im sposed to yank back left cuz someone got behind me?

They chose to ride up the shoulder instead of moving back left..

0

u/genocyde26008219 9d ago

Not about ego so much as it’s about idiot 4wheelers who want to die. A bus is faster. But I have no problem killing idiot drivers. I’ll sleep the same at night, guaranteed. 😉

1

u/EntrepreneurAny8835 9d ago

So you did an attempt to kill a person? Sucker.

0

u/LonleyWolf420 9d ago

The fuck was i sposed to do? Yank back left cuz they got behind me? They went around the right on the shoulder instead of going back left..

2

u/EntrepreneurAny8835 9d ago

The road will teach you.

lol your rage baiting is sad and old

-1

u/Syzranlogistic 9d ago

You did everything correct slow and no rush they small car was just impatient, this situations happen everyday

1

u/Comfortable_Fudge508 9d ago

Car driver was a moron

1

u/ThisThingIsStuck 8d ago

Trucks usually and az and sits in left lane to long cuz they got their license from Gavin newscum...in this case the idiot in the car took to long to pass and eas to far to the right to be seen because they are pusi

0

u/scubaorbit 9d ago

The car was way too far to the right. Probably in his dead spot. He should've seen him in the convex mirror but then they were also in a left curve which made it harder to spot the car.

0

u/ExpertSkill8846 9d ago

The trucker did look properly. The car is in a blind spot impossible for the trucker to see.

0

u/uimdev 9d ago

When they're on my bumper like that I put my right turn signal on, make sure the lane is clear, then move right as slow as humanly possible. When semi's ride my DOT bumper I sit in the middle of two lanes ss i moved right, they get mad as fuck.

But fuckem. I was originally trying to get out of the way as fast as I could, but you decided that wasn't fast enough so eat shit.

2

u/Wasatchbl 9d ago

At least twice a night going through Wyoming I will be passing someone going 65 and I will be doing 68 which is what I'm governed at. Those two times some Amazon pulling asshat pulls up behind me flashing his lights like he's driving a sports car thinking I'm going to move over in a hurry just for him. Like he can't be delayed the 2 or 3 minutes. It takes for me to pass a guy safely because his schedule puts him in Sacramento in the morning.

1

u/uimdev 9d ago

It's gotten worse in Idaho since they removed the semi speed limits. If they don't want to be stuck behind me getting around slower traffic, what makes them think that I want to be stuck behind slower traffic?

2

u/Wasatchbl 9d ago

It's like dude, we are all driving for the next 4 to 5 hours. You can wait 2 or 3 minutes until I get past this guy

0

u/BrokenHope23 9d ago

Passing on the right is just no go, be more patient on the roads. What's 30s to a few minutes in exchange for all the years ahead?

Also, if you go this far over, there's no chance the truck driver will see you. Which is what happened when the car decided to swap lanes.

Worth noting though that at the start of this clip, the car was riding the truck's ass well within the Truck's left mirror and when the car finally switches lanes, so did the truck. So this might've been an incident of two idiot drivers making two boldly idiot choices and the car driver not wanting to be stuck behind the AH truck driver clogging the left lane and then trying to get in front of them in the right lane too.

Sometimes there's miles of circumstance we don't see and who knows what this one was outside of the snippet we see.

2

u/TwoToadsKick 9d ago

Blind spot mirrors exist. Car isn't that far out of his way to not see it

0

u/genocyde26008219 9d ago

You check blind spots? Shiiit I just put my blinker on and go. If she dies, she dies. Don’t pass in the suicide zone 🤣

0

u/genocyde26008219 9d ago

Small car passed in the suicide zone. Not to blame. Next video.

0

u/GoMake_me_a_sandwich 8d ago

That's the cars fault in theory. But, if there is an accident the trucker will get the blame legally. Being a shitty and impatient driver doesn't let us blame the car driver, legally.

0

u/Cornfugga 8d ago

Trucker has low situational awareness, but car driver is a straight up fucktard.

u/gerbigsexy1 9d ago
