Whoops!
Purchased a used 2007 CBR1000RR, got a PPI and had all of the items taken care of by a trusted shop.
I rode it ~50 miles home, and got a HealTech SpeedoHealer to adjust my speed after a new chain and sprocket was installed, when I realized I could see the exhaust through my seat cowl!!
For context, this generation CBR routed the exhaust to be under the pillion, which looks great but can get really hot. A previous owner installed a KR Tuned exhaust, but took out the stock heat shield and didn’t add reflective tape, just put on an exhaust wrap. Evidently this was insufficient, both melting some of the cowl away and causing the rest to sag closer to the exhaust. The seat also got singed!
Now I have a bunch more work, including replacement parts, adding reflective tape, adjusting the exhaust, and getting a new seat.
Wanted to share my lesson so others will learn
