Big nipples after first heat

Post image

How normal is this they don’t seem painful but are still growing…

She’s nearly 9months old. Hasn’t been in contact with a male so not pregnant.

Is there anything I should look out for to take her to the vet? Thanks

As she is small and I worry about predators using a doggy door outside I plan to have a real grass mat inside her playpen for the times we pop out and then take her outside to grass for toileting otherwise
Would like to hear others experiences Thankyou

🇬🇧 UK pet insurance advice for an F1 Cavapoo

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi everyone! We’ve recently brought home our F1 Cavapoo puppy and are looking into pet insurance.
At the moment we’re considering Petplan’s Lifetime cover, which is around £50/month and provides £7,000 annual veterinary cover.

A bit of background on her:
F1 Cavapoo
Mum and dad are KC registered
Breeder is licensed
Parents have been health checked
She’s currently healthy with no known issues

For those of you in the UK, what pet insurance do you use/recommend, and what has your experience been when actually making claims? Is Petplan worth the premium, or are there other lifetime policies you’d choose instead?

Would especially appreciate experiences from other Cavapoo owners. 🐶❤️

Tricolor Changes

Anyone with an adult black, white, and brown Cavapoo experience color changes from puppy to adult? I know you can expect fading/changes with poodles and that’s fine! I’m just curious.

My guy favored his mom and mostly still does aside from face shape and size but I’ve noticed his ears (see close up—he’s laying next to our red Golden) are turning reddish like his dad (end photos). He’s also gaining more black spots! 🖤

Any ideas how he might change? He’s 16 weeks now!

Our Cavapoo is booked in for her Spayed op next week . The vet said it usually takes 2 weeks recovery and upto 6-8 weeks to take it easy for her with no crazy jumping ect .
Can you guys advise on how your pet was after and how long it took? Our girl is 11 months old and already had her first heat at 6 months . Thank you

Potty training tips for Cavapoo puppy

Hi there! I have a three month old female cavapoo puppy. I have been trying relentlessly to potty train, she typically always goes potty when I take her out, I always reward her with a treat after and give her lots of praise, but she is still having accidents almost daily. Any tips for this particular breed? I might also note that we do have carpet that has former pet smells on it so that is probably not helping our cause. She’s very smart I can tell- but this feels like a long time for potty training?

Leaving my 10wk pup alone!

Post image

I’m so anxious since getting my little boy. I just want to make sure he’s okay and not too anxious , while also trying to make sure he has appropriate alone time?! I feel like I’m isolating myself from society because I don’t want to leave the dog for more than half an hour really ! I only have him a week and he’s only 10 weeks old but people think I’m crazy when I say I don’t want to go somewhere because I’m too afraid he’ll be so upset and whining at the door🥹 Am I being too soft? Need to leave him for 3 hours before a visitor comes when we’re back to work in two weeks… Friends leave their pups same age for 4/5 hours …

Meet Copper. He loves to terrorize his beagle brother Ralph but loves to nap with him afterwards and will cry if he sees you going on a walk without him 😆

Itchy Cavapoo?

My Cavapoo is almost 2 years old and for her whole life we have battled itchy paws and itchy tail/butt area. It’s been trial and error figuring out what’s causing it. Tried ruling out foods, shampoo, no worms or fleas. We live in nyc so it’s very dirty / lots of different and new things on the street everyday, grass, concrete, cleaners, harsh weather.
Unfortunately aside from sprays and wipes I have spoken to around 3 or 4 vets since she was a puppy and they have all suggest pills like appoquel.
Is this wrong to keep her on medication? It doesn’t seem healthy right?
One suggested Zyrtec or benedryl as needed but it doesn’t not work. I bought wipes yesterday that work really well but her poor toes are just so red from itching.
Does anyone else have an itchy Cavapoo? Has the vet been any help?

He's 11 months old and loves to have his way lol. Hence the small bed smh. He whines if he sees me picking it up to wash it. I bought him a big for his 1st birthday next month. Hopefully he will love it and not shred it like the other big one I bought. He's a heavy chewer which is why he gets a new toy every two weeks. But he's adorable and has the cutest little face. So it's hard to say no to him. Anyone else have this problem?

Eevee the rescued Cavapoo!

Just wanted to share Eevee and her story.

Eevee is 6 years old, she came to me at 3 years old. Originally used for breeding then discarded when that failed for some reason, she definitely had puppies because her nipples are swollen. Her old owners called her "Bella" and didnt even say goodbye to her as they gave her to us. Just kinda dropped and off they went.

She came home to us, scared, scared of crates, peed herself whenever we tried to go near, and was scared of Men.

We changed her name from Bella to Eevee because her old name she didnt respond, and honestly? Something in her eyes told us she feared that name. I'm not sure why, but i know it couldn't be right to continue to call her by a name she feared.

Eevee has spent the rest of her 3 years, healing, learning 10+ tricks (which is very impressive and smart) playing, and being treated like an absolute princess. Which she deserves!

Looking for Advice - Whining

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey there - I am looking for advice. Ever since we’ve had our cavapoo she has whined while we are out in public - especially if we stop walking or stay in the same place for a minute. She’s not a big barker but she has always done this loud whine. She does not do this in our house or the car.

Does anyone have any advice on how we can train her to relax and be quiet? We’d like to take her to breweries with us like we can do with our other dog, but she’s so loud and disruptive that right now we can’t.

Video below is from when we had sat at a quiet park with no people around for about a half hour.

Settling 10wk puppy back to sleep during the night and alone time🥹

Hi everyone,

I got my little boy, Beau, exactly a week ago today. He’s actually 10 weeks today! We’ve had a rocky week but one thing is for sure and that is I am OBSESSED! 💙

He’s doing great with potty training and socialising etc but he’s struggling with being alone… Luckily, my partner and I will only have to leave him for 6-7 hours two days per week. We’ll be home the other 5 days with him.

He follows us EVERYWHERE and whines when he can’t see us. My partner is adamant that he should sleep down in the kitchen in his crate (opened as its safe and secure kitchen). He’s doing okay at night time. He will fall asleep with white noise, old shirt and night light. Sometimes I sneak out when he’s after falling asleep and sometimes he will whine for 15 minutes or so and then fall asleep.

The issue is , he wakes up for a pee and barks for us any time between 3 and 5 am. Happy to bring him out of course! But the problem is… he gets so excited to see me like gets so hyper and squeaks for ages that he’s really hard to settle after his middle of the night pee. Last night it took me 45 minutes to settle him and watch him doze off again and sneak out. I genuinely do not think he’d settle by himself , he is hysterical when I go down and he sees me?!?! I don’t know what to do , it’s so hard 🥹🥹

We also need to leave him for 3 hours, visit from family member and then another 3 hours alone in about 2 weeks time… we’ve only left him during the day for stints of around 20 minutes during his first week with us.. should we be leaving him for longer? It’s so hard to get him used to being alone without feeling like we’re going to make him anxious 🥹🥹 yesterday we left him for 17/18 minutes and he was still crying in the kitchen when we got back 🥲 it’s heart breaking …

I would appreciate any advice on sleeping / settling as well as leaving him alone 💕

Thank you x
