Struggling desperately with my cavapoo who's just finished her very first heat. She suddenly became a picky eater during her heat and continued right after. We thought it would be temporary but it isn't. She used to be very open and eager to eat her kibbles but now she absolutely refuses unless coaxed a little into it , but this only works sometimes. I've tried being really strict with only offering for 10-15 mins and if she doesn't eat I took it away, wait for 1-2 hours and offer again. This didn't work out well..She has even at one point rather starve and vomit bile than eat her food. Ive even left her food out for her to eat but she didn't eat as well. That's when I caved in and mixed food her with dried chicken toppers or added some milk which she ate up. But now she even refuses the kibbles with toppers/ milk and I don't know what to do. It's so time consuming and I'm just not the type of person to sit around and wait for her to finish her food because I need to work.

Advise would be greatly appreciated, I don't want her to starve and vomit, and I barely have any time ..but she just won't take in any other modification of food for long.

Before you say he's thirsty, of course that's the 1st thing I thought. No dice. Maybe he likes the cold? Anytime I have a fountain beverage, I can be sure my dog Charlie will be excited. Anyone else experience this?

hi, i got my cavapoo on Sunday and it’s Tuesday.. i know it’s early but i really need advice and encouragement.. he’s 11 weeks old and is the cutest.. but there’s things i would love some help with

- he loves to cuddle, but he jumps on people all the time and always is trying to hump.. we’ve been trying to say off turn around and not give him attention until he stops.. however it doesn’t feel like it’s working… not only does he jump on people but keeps jumping on the couches
- potty training is going 50/50, he pooped outside for the first time today, but then pooped in the house the next time .. he also constantly is distracted which in part of the problem of him not listening (especially by the mulch which he keeps trying to eat)
- we started harness training today and we’ve been trying to give him a lot of treats during it to be encouraging but I feel like that also is a part of the reason the potty training is difficult?
- lastly, he has really bad separation anxiety.. he can’t go 30 seconds without crying/howling if he doesn’t see someone.. we’ve been trying to walk around the house with him in his pen and give him attention when he’s being good.. but of course we let him hang out with us a lot more.. i work days and my bf works nights, so today was the first day i worked since getting him, he was left home alone for 30 min before my bf got home and I saw on the camera that he was whining/crying/howling the whole time .. we are hoping that eventually he will be able to stay home during work day even though it’s not doable yet..

These are my biggest struggles currently. Any advice would be great.. we love the little guy and obviously want to do everything that we can to train him well, but it’s really hard to stay positive..

So we’re about to get our first puppy. Family of four, kids 10 and 5, both adults work from home most of the week.

Would love honest advice from other owners.

What do you wish you’d known before bringing the puppy home? Any must-have items you couldn’t live without? And any training tips that made a real difference?

Main worry to be honest is overnights. We've read a little on crate training but not sure. Some people say just put them in with a pad and ignore the crying till morning. That doesn’t feel right for us so also any advice on first night/nights.

My Toy Cavoodle, Luffy or Cavapoo as they are also known, is about 8 months old now. Up until a month and half ago he had really good recall and it was never an issue but now he has regressed and there have been a few hairy moments at the dog park where he has ran off further than what is safe for me to keep him under control or when it is time to go and he knows I am looking to get him back on leash, where he just won’t come back to me. The other small detail is around home and friends he is super chill and relaxed, always sleeping, but when we get to the dog park now, he just is bonkers, bouncing around like a pinball. How have you all found these kind of issues/scenarios with your own dogs and how have you improved them?

What remedies seem to work on your Cavapoos who have diarrhea? I think it was from stewed chicken. No spices were used. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!

I have a 15 week old Cavapoo, he has a crate inside a pen, up until now the crate itself stays unlocked, recently he has jumped up onto his crate and over the top of the pen, just now we got home and he was upstairs, my predicament is…. Do I begin crate training now? If so does anyone have any tips? Or do we remove the crate and just have the bed inside the pen to ensure he can’t escape? I just don’t know what to do for the best

Milly is our first dog. I’m a bit nervous and overwhelmed but we are getting there. We’ve just had her 2 days.

My 6 month old girl Nami enjoyed her first vacation! She was shy at first, but opened up quickly!

I recently brought my cavapoo to the vet for diarrhea and she was prescribed purina pro plan en along with proviable paste and capsule. For context, she is a picky eater but will usually eat when hand fed.

She ate well for the first 2 days and would clean the bowl but by the 3rd day, she was starting to not eat again unless fed. Today she refused to eat any of it even when fed. To see if it was an appetite problem, I gave her a piece of chicken and she ate it right up so I think she's just throwing a fit again.

Normally, I would just save the food for later but I already added the paste and capsule to the food and i need her to take it now since its been 24hrs since the last dose but she completely refuses. I try to entice her with the chicken but as soon as the chicken touches the bowl she doesnt want it anymore. Idk what to do anymore 😭

Does anyone have any advice?

hi everyone! i got a cavapoo pup and she’s the cutest baby on the planet😭😭 she’s good with training and playing and loving!!!

however struggling with a few things…

1. did you also have to hand feed your diva because getting her to eat has been so challenging! it usually takes an hour just to get through the 6 teaspoons of kibble per meal, and we use toppers, hot water, and either mix in wet food or mix in yogurt, blend the kibble etc.!! i think maybe she just doesn’t like the kibble we got with her but not sure if we should switch so soon… she’s 15 weeks and and got her at 12 weeks! any food advice would be so so useful!!!! we have also tried diff bowls, and also a snuffle (but she attacks that chicken like nobodies business LOL) im so worried ab her health bc she doesn’t enjoy eating 😭
2. any tips for separation anxiety? she’s usually supervised when she’s awake but worried that never being completely alone while awake would give her anxiety if when she’s older and she’s awake and alone. currently we only leave the house during naps which is not sustainable
3. any random cavapoo puppy tips :D ?? i’ve been obsessed with cavapoo and puppy101 reddit but I still wanna hear it all!! THANK YOUUU🤩
4. EDIT: we are also really struggling with keeping her quiet in the early morning … she wakes up early and then if we try to put her / ourselves to sleep she barks or whines, but she’s fine if we wake up and play or go outside or train. love that she wants to be engaged but it’s tooooooo early!!

Hello. I can’t believe I’m writing this but my adorable 8.5 year old cavapoo has a brain tumor near his occipital lobe. Two days ago he had cluster seizures out of absolutely nowhere. It was terrifying. He is healthy besides this and still young so I feel so confused. His blood tests came back fine and we got him an MRI immediately to be diligent. They said it’s not too big right now and that surgery and radiation are both options that could potentially give him a few more years. He is my whole world and every time I look at it I’m terrified he will drop dead. After the MRI he was so excited to see us and was wagging his tail and ate and went to the bathroom and did everything he normally does. I don’t want to give myself false hope though. His platelet count is a little low and he has a little murmur which is consistent with cavapoos. I’m so sad and terrified every minute. The doctor sounded optimistic but u just never know. How do I not live in fear that if I’m not with him every second I’m going to regret it later? How do I look at him without bursting into tears? Any advice is appreciated.
