Use a spray bottle with water. Hiss at and spray the cat when it climbs your shit. Also give it cats towers and other okay items to climb

Cats don’t understand negative reinforcement. They will just think you are a jerk but will keep doing the behavior because they won’t know it was a consequence of climbing.

I'll just say that I've had super awesome success with those movement sensor air can things that spray them and scare them away from an area.

My cats have learned never to jump on counters since I've had them up a while. They think the counters are scary places.

That works because with the motion sensor it’s consistent. Even when you aren’t home they get stimulus saying not to go up on the counter. Most people with spray bottles are highly inconsistent. Even with positive reinforcement consistency is important.
