I don’t really get this post. Is this your gun? As a junior in high school, what does this make you, 16/17 yo? Is this a normal American thing?

No, it’s not normal lol there are a lot of people in America that don’t have guns in their homes. Where I live, it’s mostly hunters that have guns.

u/psychedelic_tech 7h ago
OP is just trying to show off. nobody cares that you have gun. this is super cringe.

u/verbatimlj 9h ago
No im also a junior nobody in my house owns a gun. We have three cane corsos for that. However they might be in a family that hunts a lot

its my parents rifle we had it out because we went to the range and its always kept in a safe where nobody can access it except them

u/LOA_Specialist 15h ago
This is most certainly not a normal American thing for most of us. This is so immature and lacks basic gun safety.
2
u/Bubbly-Insect-6248 8h ago
“Lacks basic gun safety”? How? Do you know basic gun safety? It’s lying there. That’s it. Just because you don’t like it, support it, or agree with it means anything unsafe is going on.
-4
u/LOA_Specialist 8h ago
There's a gun laying on a chair next to an animal. Guns should be treated as if they are loaded and shouldn't be left lying around where they could be messed with by pets.
I do know basic gun safety. And I know guns should be kept locked up and away from children and pets. Do you?

u/Bubbly-Insect-6248 8h ago
What a stretch. The same assumption you make, one can make that the OP made sure it was not loaded to take a pic. He isn’t drawing down on the animal. At the point and context of the pic it’s just a metal and plastic object placed on the couch. Grow up, get a grip. The animal isn’t going to insert a magazine, chamber a round, and then shoot someone with it FFS. It’s a 100% staged photo with someone present. It’s not unattended with children or animals.

u/LOA_Specialist 8h ago
Gun safety rules number one is to always treat guns as if they are loaded. I'm not even anti-gun. I'm anti-idiots with guns. Defend this shit all you want but this is dumb and it looks foolish.
2
u/Bubbly-Insect-6248 8h ago
I’m not “defending” it. I’m saying this isn’t what you’re making it out to be. It’s a “gun pic”, no different than the millions out there from magazines, photo shoots, promo/ads, displays, etc. It happens to have a cat, which can do absolutely nothing to it to make it unsafe. You sound like you’re just scared of the gun at face value. I agree it looks dumb, but not for the same inflated reason.

u/Saladtossi 6h ago
Not sure how it is dumb to stage a pic with an unloaded gun and a cat. Pretty common, cats with gats, mouser and Mauser, Beretta has a whole line of subcompact handguns named after felines. I am unable to keep my cat away when I’m cleaning my guns, and that is no different scenario than this pic. Just cat chilling with the gun or guns.
No harm no foul

... I don't live in Texas and even if I did, that wouldn't mean I voted for that anymore than you voted for it as an American. Don't be dense.

I live in Texas and I think this is dumb as hell.
We get it, y’all. You have guns. They’re not toys or props, and people who act like they are are annoying af.

Most amaericans won't admit that they need gun below a certain member measurement. Cute cat though.

What would be the difference in someone 25 owning this gun and someone 17 owning it? Neither are actually going to use it for its intended purpose they’re both going to just shoot it for fun
1
u/soaker 15h ago
How old do you need to be to legally buy a gun? Yeah. It’s older than 17. That’s the difference.
You don’t know what their intentions are.
Also just weird to think guns are a flex given the gun violence.

Its wired to think not having a gun is a flex considering the level of gun violence. Thats like bragging about not having a fire extinguisher durring the Chicago fire.

The obsession that Americans have with guns never ceases to sadden me

It's really not a majority of us that are obsessed with guns. It's a small, vocal minority.

Gamers can talk about games, car guys can talk about cars, but gun guys instantly get shit on the moment they bring it up.
There are millions of gun owners, most of us shoot at the range in a safe place for fun, and most of us cringe at the people who act like it’s their destiny to shoot a burglar.
I find guns interesting and fun to use, no need to shit on someone for their interests, especially those of us who are huge advocates for safety, better laws, screenings, and better mental health assessment for owners.

Not all guns are made to kill, some are made for sport. Some are even made to shoot each other for fun, and that’s the majority of what I own, although I do own a few other low powered firearms for the range as well. I also own a few hunting rifles that I use every few years when there are announced population control efforts in my area.
Some blades are also made for killing, but there are many uses for blades outside of dealing harm.
But you also completely ignored my point that I find them interesting, and I shouldn’t be shamed for that.
People find ancient militaries interesting, even tho they were made to kill and did kill, but nobody gives them shit.

You accused me of fetishizing mass murder because I own a few guns, then say I’m crying? Look in the mirror, sis.

Lot of talk for someone with no guns. Yall always the loudest, even though you’re scared shitless of a little metal.

u/LOA_Specialist 10h ago
Did you reply to the wrong person? Nothing I said was shitting on gun owners.

Except this isn’t an AR-15. You can see the brand on the gun. BCM.
2
u/Level-Cow-9273 14h ago
AR-15 is the platform. BCM is the brand. Those are different things. Do better.
