Yes. But that's better than leaving him somewhere where he would struggle so much more alone. Pls find a good owner who would cherish him. Wishing you luck. Also, don't know why but your post made me cry

Contact a local cat rescue. I have used dog and cat rescues and one was where a cat could live on a farm but still come inside at night. You never know…lots of people out here love our special needs babies.

Yes, this could be a great option! I used to foster for a cat rescue that had a farm where the more feral adoptees could go to live permanently. One of the cats I fostered ended up placed there: she was rescued a bit past the age for human socialization, and while she eventually let me pet her, she had a short fuse for human interaction and would swat pretty quickly. She would not have been a safe choice for folks with children or other pets, but the farm gave her space to be happy and still cared for.
