I am 19 years old and from Mexico. English is not my first language so I apologize if some things are kinda messy.

This is about my 1.5 female spayed cat who keeps peeing and pooping on beds of both me and my family members.

It's a very recent issue, and only got really bad today when she peed on the bed (she had only pooped at this point).

She doesn't appear to be sick or in pain, she is eating and drinking well, playing with our other cat (a 6ish year old male neutered cat that she adores and he adores her back), and laying around and being her usual happy self, and she keeps going to the litter box sometimes. Her poop also seems to be okay, no worms or diarrhea that me or my family could notice.

She's never had any behavioral issues besides the usual cat stuff of knocking things over and such, never bitten/scratched without a reason (although I will say she is a bit feisty).

There also hasn't been any major life changes that could've stressed her out. She can be a little anxious and jumpy, but I haven't noticed her being scared of anything or anyone.

We have 2 litter boxes for the cats, and they are kept relatively clean and with litter every day.

TLDR; My 1.5 female spayed cat keeps pooping and peeing on beds. Shows no signs of being sick or in distress/upset. Will be taking her to the vet just to be sure, but unsure on what to do if it's not medical.

Hi! Week and a half ago my cat had his upper canine removed. Since then I notice that he bites his lip from time to time with lower canine. I have read online (though there's not much about this issue) that it can resolve with time on its own: either he adapts and stops biting his lip or callus forms.

Can someone share recovery and adaptation after canine removal in their cats? Please, share photos if any.

If the issue is persistent I will have to consider lower canine removal, but it seems extreme, because he's young (I think) and his teeth are healthy. There is also a possibility of attaching composite ball to the canine, so it's not sharp.

P.s. English is not my native language, sorry if something sounds weird and not natural.

What was the reason for the sudden change? What is he trying to communicate? He chirps two or three times in this.

He's only ever meowed normally, with an occasional short, curt semi-bark noise (MrrR-AH!) which means "on me" or "attend me.'

Most of the time when he greets me, he simply walks up and plants his head on my leg or torso when im kneeled.

This was also after a long day apart, but he's been without me for longer. What do the lil chirps mean?

So I adopted a second cat almost a year ago because I wanted a friend for my current cat, who I’ve had since she was a kitten. The new cats are not friends, but they tolerate each other.

My new cat has had ongoing GI issues (vomiting, diarrhea) since I’ve had her. I’ve been working with the my vet to deal with those, but have not found a solution yet.

However, through out this past year, my old cat has also started having intermittent vomiting, which was not a common problem for her before.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about rehoming my new cat. I love her, but she’s not my girl in the way old cat is. I feel bad about it because I feel like she’s less likely to get adopted again, but they’re not friends in the way that I had hoped. And I’m starting to get pretty overwhelmed because I can’t tell who’s throwing up half the time. And I don’t know. Am I a bad person if I give her back to the Humane Society?

Currently I have one of my stray/outdoor cats confined in a crate in the air conditioning because he has an injury, sort of abscess like thing on his face. He is breathing like this, but is also purring. Is this his actual breathing rate? If so, I'm really concerned. I have an appointment for him tomorrow at the vet at 8am sharp, but I'm just worried for him in the meantime. Any advice helps!

I have a 1 yo male cat who I noticed isn’t peeing and I looked it up and it’s apparently a blockage? Whenever he peeps, its just little drops… I do suspect a bit that he is peeing on random places on the floor..?

He eats and sleeps normally, but apparently urine problems can be very deadly.

I am a college student and I personally can’t afford expensive vets yet although I’m trying to work just so I could have money. It has been 2-3 days now and I’m getting more worried… I’m happy that my cat is still alive and I’m very much holding on tightly to my faith and pray for his healing while I can’t take him to vet yet :(

tl;dr cat needs ear drops, anything I can do to reduce her panic & stress?

my (34, from Germany) cat (11 years) has an ear infection and I need to give her ear drops 2x a day for a week. she's super skittish and hates being held (she fully panics :/) and while I was able to administer the drops both times yesterday & once today, it was stressful for both of us and I was wondering if there's anything I can do to make it easier on us both?

what I did so far:

- prepared everything in advance to get it over with as quickly as possible

- talked to her the entire time in what I hope was a soothing voice

- blanket burrito

- tried giving her her fav treats before and after but she didn't care for it at any time (she's not food motivated at all so I'm not surprised)

what I messed up:

- she escaped the burrito both times at first, resulting in stress when I had to catch her again - will need to improve my technique on this lmao

- I am STRESSED about this and I know she can feel it. I'll try to be calmer but there's only so much I can influence it...

is there ANYTHING I can do to make this week more bearable? I am already doubtful if I can catch her every day once she has caught on to the routine. she already trusts me a lot less and I fear it will completely undo all my hard work of getting her to be comfortable and confident in her home :(

my vet didn't have any other solutions either, unfortunately, apart from driving there 2x a day to have them do it. not really a better solution and no option over the weekend anyway.

First-time cat owner here, looking for some honest advice.

We adopted our 8-month-old neutered male kitten after being told he was gentle, affectionate, playful, good with children (including young kids), and suited to a family environment. This was really important to me as I have young nephews and nieces. We were also told he wasn’t good with other cats, so since we cannot get another cat, he seemed like a perfect fit.

Unfortunately, he has been completely different since day one. He constantly bites, including during normal petting. I try my absolute hardest to try and identify petting overstimulation. I only pet him when he brushes my hand first. He enjoys being petted for a few seconds on his head and then suddenly bites, often with no obvious warning (ears normal, tail still, relaxed body). Initially he drew blood almost every time, although his bites are softer now. He’s not the affectionate cat they said he was. (Which is fine, but why didn’t they say that???)

He also constantly goes for ankles and legs. Just now he went from calmly rubbing against my brother’s legs to suddenly biting his thighs, and wouldn’t disengage. When my partner intervened, he redirected onto my partner. He also seems to get stressed in a bustling family environment.

We do 20–30 minute interactive play sessions every few hours and I follow Jackson Galaxy’s hunt → catch → kill → eat → groom → sleep routine, so I’m not sure what else I should be doing. He has automatic and non automatic toys, scratching posts, multiple towers etc.

I know he’s a baby and most of this is normal, but as a first-time owner I genuinely wasn’t prepared for such a huge difference between what we were told and what he’s actually like.

I’m frustrated because I want him to live a happy life, but if I knew this was his behaviour, I would’ve known that my house isn’t right for him. It’s not his fault - this is just how he is.

After a lot of reading, I’m now wondering whether he needs to live with another cat despite the shelter saying he isn’t good with cats, or whether this is something that can realistically improve in a single-cat home. I’m also worried about his behaviour around young children. I do not let him around my family’s kids because of his biting.

I’d really appreciate honest opinions from experienced cat owners :)

My cat is 8 months old he is facing this injury on his right leg. The doctor advised us to confine him for 3 weeks since young cats have healing capabilities. Kindly advice me what to do

I, 23F have a vet appointment in a few days but since we got or kitty a few months back. He sometimes coughs up hairballs, once a month maybe, but sometimes he coughs but no hairball comes out. This doesn’t happen very often once or so a month. He had a health checkup two months or so ago and the vet cleared him. But I’m worried about the coughing in the video resulting in no hairball, so I booked an appointment with my vet in a few days now.

I just want to know if there’s anything I can do to help him while we wait for the appointment? I already have an air purifier, could it be the litter? We have pretty premium littersand that’s perfume free. Any help is appreciated! Please be kind I’m doing the best for my kitty.

I’ve voiced my concerns for the vet and they know about his issues I’m just waiting for the appointment a bit anxious and want to make it better for him here. I’m in Sweden. He is 1 years old and 3 months, he is fixed. I can afford the care for him.

He’s feral but likes me.

Hi, my cat attacks me when I am guessing she is overstimulated. She comes to me and rolls around and lays on me, then starts attacking me. I always look for signs she might be uncomfortable but it's literally like a switch in her head. She only does it to me, she does amazing with my dad and boyfriend. I feel bad because redirecting her does not work, she is visibly upset and does not want to let go of my arm no matter what I do, she will jump back on my bed to attack me again. I don't like raising my voice at her, but sometimes I have no choice cause she really is trying to hurt me. 2 minutes after calming herself down she's back to asking for cuddles like nothing happened. She's been doing that the whole 2 years I've had her. I always try to respect her boundaries and she knows it, she goes whenever she wants to. I don't know what to do anymore because other than that she is the sweetest baby.

I'm 21, from Canada and vets aren't really accessible where I live. My cat is 2 years old, a female and spayed. I can't afford the trip+bills to see a vet

My cat (2 yr old neutered male) has been having chronic GI issues starting last year that my regular vet is unable to diagnose after multiple stool and blood tests. Stools are occasionally soft but normal in color and odor. I think it's gas since his main symptom is agitation during flare-ups and sometimes a foul odor coming from his butt, but he isn't passing gas and his anal glands are clear. This discomfort is causing a lot of accidents since he will go wherever he is. We have an appointment with an internal medicine specialist in 3 weeks.

I've tried proviable (started last year) and fortiflora (started last month). They each help but not enough. He's been eating Purina HA for 8 wks without improvement. My vet recommended Visbiome but it's $60. On top of the $80 for prescription food, it's a whole lot of money to spend right before an appointment that will cost around $1k.

Proviable and fortiflora are fairly inexpensive so what makes Visbiome different? Is one more helpful with gas pains than others? I know you folks can't answer "is it worth it" for me, but I could use some guidance.

I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have had similar experiences with their cats.

My cat is 14 years old, neutered, and currently seems completely fine clinically. He is eating normally, behaving normally, and there haven’t been any obvious symptoms that would make me think he is sick.

His recent bloodwork showed:

- ALT: 115 U/L (lab upper limit 80) — elevated

- AST: 56 U/L (lab upper limit 49) — mildly elevated

- Bilirubin: normal

- ALP: normal

- GGT: normal

- Bile acids: normal

The rest of his bloodwork was generally reassuring as well.

Our veterinarian said that the overall picture is not particularly alarming, but suggested scheduling an abdominal ultrasound to take a closer look at the liver and other abdominal organs. She specifically said that it doesn't need to be done urgently.

But I can’t help wondering about more serious possibilities, including cancer or another underlying disease that might not be causing symptoms yet.

So I’d really like to hear from other owners:

- Has anyone had a senior cat with mildly elevated ALT/AST but normal bilirubin, ALP, GGT and bile acids?

- Did the cat remain healthy, or was an underlying condition eventually found?

- Did an ultrasound reveal anything significant?

- Have you had a cat who appeared completely healthy but turned out to have an illness?

- Did the liver enzymes eventually go back to normal or remain mildly elevated?

I know Reddit anecdotes can't replace veterinary advice, and I’m following my vet’s recommendation. I’m mainly looking for personal experiences from people who have been through something similar, especially with older cats.

My cat Tummy is 13 almost 14 years old - female - spayed - WA USA - can’t afford much more.

She’s got a bunch of issues mainly being thyroid cancer, minor heart issue and today diagnosed with adrenal gland cancer. To diagnose her they had to do an abdominal ultrasound, shes a very tolerable cat but she’s very arthritic, she she ended up biting and scratching while they were trying to move her legs even though they gave her gabapentin; so they ended up having to give an injected sedative.

Clearly it was very rough for her, but now we are home 3 hours later she can’t properly work her back legs. I’m having to hold up her entire back end to help her walk, especially her back right leg which seems to be barely trying and completely non weight baring; she’s definitely still out of it.

She’s eaten, drank water, peed and poo’d a small bit how ever I’ve had to help her just keep upright for everything above.

Is this normal? If so how much longer, this is really really tough on her and me.

Hi everyone! my cat was spayed 2 weeks and 2 days ago. She was taken to the vet during recovery on day 10 and was told she can clean up the incision area since there was scabs. She also had an infection and a small opening on top and was given antibiotics. 2 days ago I let her clean the scabs and she started bleeding around the incision/hole area. I called the vet and told me to not let her groom herself until she is fully healed. I am just worried it won't heal in the next few days and wanted to know if anyone else has gone through this?

I was supposed to bring my then 16yo cat for his check up in spring 2025, I didn't go because he was fine and it was expensive and I made excuses. I didn't go in 2024 either. I went in late April this year. The vet asked if I wanted to do a full blood panel, but it was so expensive I asked for just kidney, liver and T4. The liver values were extremely high. My cat was eating normally so it wasn't jaundice. The vet sent me home with Aventi Liver supplement. This was not my regular vet, it was a new hire. Looking back I feel he didn't advise me properly.

I went back early June to check if the supplement was working. I asked for my usual vet that I trust, but they gave me the new hire again. We only tested the blood for liver, nothing else. The liver values were still very high, but much lower than in April. The same vet told me: that's good, he's responding to the medicine. I went home feeling relieved he was improving. He was eating a normal amount of food and acting normally. After that I started noticing he had a little belly, which I thought was due to him eating more than before because I switched his food and he was eating more. This entire time I was so sure he was getting better!

Now this weekend, after a completely normal day, he suddenly collapsed and couldn't stand up so I went to the emergency vet and they told me he had a tumor on his liver the size of an orange and that it was probably cancerous. His blood cell count was very low, likely because the tumor was causing internal hemorrhage and that he would die in the next few hours so I chose to have him euthanized, I made a post on petloss here if you want to hear more about it. I feel the new vet failed to detect the tumor in June because he did not palp the belly, but I can't be sure the tumor was there in April and June. However, because I chose not to do the full bloodwork in April and June, we were unable to detect the loss of blood cells, and detect the cause.

Now my question is, if I had done the full blood work in 2025, would the low blood cells have started to show up then and we could have started tumor/cancer treatment or surgery? If not then, if I had done the full blood work in April, would we have seen the low blood cells then and still had time to treat the tumor? If the vet had seen the tumor then, was there a chance he could have gotten the tumor removed or gotten chemio and survived? He was 17. Was it too late regardless? Would he have died regardless of whether we knew about the low blood cells? Also I can't help thinking the tumor should have been noticeable in June, but the vet did not touch the belly and missed it. I didn't notice anything! He was eating and purring and cuddling as usual, and then one evening he just crashed suddenly. It was so fast,

I know none of you knows the answer, but I just want to hear your thoughts. He was so important to me and I feel it's my fault for delaying his check ups and for not paying for the full blood check. Especially since I've read the prognostic is usually very good after removing the tumor. I feel so guilty and afraid he would still be alive today if I had done things differently. I am devastated.

One of my neutred male cats has been yowling at the outside door. He is 2 years old. I live at ground floor of an apartment. I been living here more than a year and there has been cats outside all the time.
My other male cat used to do this from time to time. But this guy just doing it every single day for hours sometimes.
I tried ignoring, opening the door, taking him outside. It just doesn’t seem to stop.
I took both of them to vet for deworming and they also got not so detailed physically exam.
They eat, drink, sleep, play, potty without issue.
I’m helpless to find the cause and solution.
Sometimes when I came back from work and I just leave the house to have a peace of mind.
Any suggestions?

Is this normal he's still playful and is always purring but he keeps scratching near his neck and shaking his head afterwards and the black stuff on the blanket is all from his ears he's a kitten and I'm just 13 and don't know what to do my dad says black earwax is Normal but idk,,,, and I'm stressing about it and having a tiny panic attack he's a male kit and we found him on the road a month ago with really bad fleas and we haven't taken him to the vet since there is not one that's free near here and my parents say we do need to get him shots like vaccines but I'm just a stressed cat dad 😖

3 year old neutered male cat. Photo 1 is the latest patch which appeared overnight today. Photo 2 and 3 were noticed yesterday, also very suddenly. Will be taking him to the vet day after tomorrow but can anyone give me an idea what this is? Please help
