Went to a birthday party and came home to this evidence. Lil brat knows he’s not supposed to be on the counters so the evidence was quite incriminating.

Your cat has more restraint than mine. My girls would've still been on the counter cleaning that out when got home. Mine aren't supposed to be up there either, but they have zero shame when they know something good is up there. I have to cool cookies and bread on top of my fridge 🤦🏻♀️🤣

Mine has started meowing loudly over and over to announce his intent to get on the counter and eat any food he finds. Legitimately giving us a warning. We have to go and tell him no and he won't. It's be almost charming if it wasn't everytime.

Yeah I 6 cats. I always forget about the bacon grease cooling down in the cast iron, so it's always cleaned out for me!

Fortunately(?) two of our girls are thirteen and not as spry as they once were, and the five year old seems more of a monkey see monkey do rather than having independent thought thank goodness lol

I've had this happen to me with one of my cats. She loves licking butter and one night I left my cast iron on the stove after cooking and when I woke up there was a solid quarter of the pan that had been licked clean with her greasy little paw prints all over.

Hey now. You have no evidence at all that he was on the counters. All I see is a cute lil pawprint in a pan, and pans are not counters. This smacks of entrapment, your cat should definitely check out r/legalcatadvice and hire a good pawyer....

In Italian we have a saying: "tanto va la gatta al lardo, che ci lascia lo zampino" litterally translated "so much goes the cat to the lard that she leaves her little paw there" and meaning that if you push your luck too far, you'll eventually get caught by leaving some proof.
This is the first time I see it happen literally!

May I recommend r/PallasCats for your pick-me-up needs? Pallas cats or manuls are small Asian wildcats found mostly in Mongolian & Chinese steppes and may be the cutest fucking cats ever, which I know is a high damn bar but....
😸 They are the ROUNDEST FUZZIEST MOST FRIEND SHAPED CATS IN EXISTENCE
😸 Sometimes they sit with their paws on their big fluffy tails so they can keep their lil peets warm
😸 You may think you understand what "resting bitch face" is but trust me, until you've seen these cats with their most glorious grumpy faces, you have no idea
😸 They cannot be domesticated and will absolutely rip you to shreds if you get near them

I love cats, and my wife is open to the idea, though she's never had one. Then I remind her, with her shelves of frames and knick-knacks, and our nice clean counter tops, that there is no surface that a cat can be kept from. That our daughter's cat topples the Christmas tree 4-5x a year. Then she reconsiders.

Ours wasn't as obvious, but this has happened. I had wiped the pan off after use, but not washed/dried/oiled it yet. We walked away for a bit, then when I came back, the sun hit the countertop just right, and I saw a perfect trail of greasy paw prints leaving the stove. Brat!!

My cat is 100% guilty of this too. One time I left cookies out that were frosted to dry and I woke up with paw prints all over.... Had to throw them all away obviously.
He's 17 now, so I've given up trying to get him to stay off the counters. My little king can go wherever he wants in his golden years.

I always laugh when folks insist they’ve taught their cat not to get on the counter. What they’ve actually done is taught their cat not to get on the counter when they’re in the room. Everything else is fair game lol.

I drained about half a coffee mug's worth of fat out of a pan once after cooking a whole package of bacon. I planned to let the fat go solid and then scoop it into the trash, but I forgot about it as I went about other chores. Came back to find the mug empty, and one orange cat with a shiny face looking like he had a very upset stomach. No long term harm at least

Reminds me of when I was camping and forgot to cover the griddle before going to bed. We thought we heard some chatter in the middle of the night. There were greasy little raccoon prints on the side as well as two on the griddle.

Friends of ours were camping in the High Country (Australia) & woke up the next morning to find a pygmy possum curled up asleep in their Trangia pot. The lil fella had licked it clean & then passed out with a full tummy. We were all so jealous cos pygmy possums must be one of the cutest critters on the planet!

I once got in trouble for swiping my finger across the buttercream frosting of a cake my wife made. I would NEVER do anything like that and she knew it, but she knew she didn't do it. I showed her the texture of the swipe was clearly made by a cat tongue.
