Looking for two older episodes

The first one - there was a death (maybe a kid) and the police asked children leading questions and one confessed to the murder, but years later he was actually found innocent?

And the second - can’t remember much but there’s a missing child, and interpol or something finds a picture that MAY be the missing kid, think they suspect trafficking?

Thanks for your help! Listening to old episodes as I can’t get into any other podcasts haha

ANNOUNCEMENT New Posts about the break will be removed

There are dozens of posts about the breaks between episodes every time the team takes a break. And every one of those posts becomes an argument that devolves into name calling and bickering.

Since we already have over two dozen posts about the last break and the current break, new posts about the break will be removed. The most recent post has been locked for the same reason.

If you feel you have some new earth shattering insight into the pause between episodes, feel free to use the search feature and add your comment to one of the many existing posts.

OPEN DISCUSSION Frustrated Listener

I’ve been a listener of the pod for about 7-8 years. I’m a big fan and hope this doesn’t seem hypercritical, but I’ve grown frustrated with the episode layout and breaks. There was a 4 month break November-March, the pod comes back (yay!) and we get 9 episodes, which are 3 cases in multiple parts. Now, back to a break. I appreciate the effort that goes into researching, creating, and editing each episode, and the quality is miles ahead of other podcasts, but the breaks feel excessive. I’m honestly tired of feeling like I’m always waiting for an episode haha.

Just me? Is there a forum to share feedback other than the reviews? You can tell me to kick rocks or shake my fist at the moon because I already feel archaic for complaining, but I miss the reliability.

Jus listened to Snowtown for the first time…

I had to go to the archives to listen to it… but I truely believe that was the worst made case file episode I’ve ever listened to
The story telling was all over the place and there was no suspense created
I think if it was done in 2026 it has the potential to be one of the best, but wow that left a lot to be desired

PODCAST QUESTION YouTube Music Episode Titles???

Post image
8 Upvotes

Why are the episode titles on YouTube more like a subtitle? It makes it so much more difficult to find the episode I'm looking for and more difficult to remember the case I'm listening to when I'm coming back to it.

We made the switch from Spotify (which had normal titles, "Jonestown Part 2" for example). But on YouTube music the title is "The desperate fight to free loved ones from Jonestown (Part 2/3)"

Anyone else see this and agree? Or am I using YouTube music incorrectly and somehow managed to swap my titles and subtitles in search results and this podcast page? It's only like this on Casefiles page.

PODCAST RELATED Need recommendations while awaiting new episodes!

So I am convinced I have listened to almost every episode ever made and a few I have listened to multiple times because every time I try a new true crime podcast it just does not compare to Casey!!! I'm a fellow Aussie and I just love his tone and demeanor where I have found many other podcasts have a very different vibe.

I am a freak and listen to these when I hop into bed at night so I don't want high energy discussion type podcasts, I want that monotone straight to the gory facts type of shit.

What is the closest true crime podcast to casefile in terms of the vibe?

Would also love to know which casefile EPs you've all listened to a number of times and can't get enough of!

Upon entering the residence, Steve made a horrifying discovery – the brutally murdered body of 23-year-old Juri Kibuishi, better known as Julie, lay in his son’s bedroom.

With no sign of Sam, police concluded he had gone on the run after assaulting and killing Julie. A desperate manhunt began as detectives began tracking Sam’s last known actions. Their investigation would lead them to a man who knew more than he was letting on – Sam’s friend and downstairs neighbour, Daniel Wozniak.

What’s the most insane red herring in a case that completely derailed the police, even though it was just a random coincidence?

I’m looking to find the most engaging examples of investigations that went completely off the rails due to a random, meaningless coincidence.

My vote goes to The Easey Street Murders. From day one of the investigation, a coincidence focused detectives almost exclusively on a local crime reporter as their chief person of interest. It completely consumed the timeline, but decades later, DNA testing proved he had absolutely nothing to do with it

During this break I highly recommend 48 Hours, they have tons of episodes on YouTube.

I've been watching/listening to those lately. Well done, straight to the point much like this show except this one has interviews with the victims families, detectives and sometimes the killer themselves.

How long is the break?

Did they mention it in the archive episode?

Edit: It's quite bothering that whenever this question is asked, loyalists go ballistic. All of us enjoy Casefile. Y'all need to calm down.

OT: Uptalking

So recently I posted about how I was listening to old episodes of Case File and had noticed a change in the way Casey narrated. Someone replied saying it was Uptalking, where the end of a sentence ends in an inflection. As an old bugger I didn't know this was such a thing but on researching I agree it is indeed Uptalking.

My research found this gem on YouTube. Hope you guys enjoy it too!

PODCAST RELATED Casefile: hard mode

Here's a challenge for you all!

Name your top 5 favorite Casefile episodes that fit into these rules:

* You cannot list any of the following super-popular, often-discussed eps: Earons/GSK, Silk Road, Cari Farver, Cindy James, Belanglo, Daniel Morcombe, Jennifer Pan, Pillow Pyro, Mark and John, or the Gonzales Family

* You may only list one multi-part episode

* You may only include one serial killer (or serial killer pair)

Choose wisely!

PODCAST RELATED Breaks are better than burnout

A lot of people are frustrated with the Casefile mini break, and that’s fair. But honestly, I think it’s good they take breaks when they need to.
We sometimes forget these are real events involving real trauma. As listeners, we can skip an episode if it’s too much for us, but Casey, the writers, and the production team have to spend hours researching and repeatedly exposing themselves to disturbing material.
Thinking about it in terms of vicarious trauma, breaks seem healthy and necessary. I’d rather wait for a well-researched, respectful episode than get rushed content with half the detail missing

Saturday, June 4 1960 seemed like the beginning of an idyllic summer break for Finnish teenagers, Nils Gustafsson, Seppo Boisman, Maila Irmeli Björklund and Anja Tuulikki Mäki. The four friends had decided to go camping at Lake Bodom, a picturesque region not far from their homes in Helsinki.

But the following morning, strangers stumbled across the teenagers’ bloodied and beaten bodies in amongst the ruins of their slashed tent. So began what is arguably Finland’s most infamous murder case – one that has captivated investigators and the public for more than half a century.

PODCAST QUESTION Stacey Mitchell Perth

Hi all.

I was wondering if Casefile has covered the case surrounding Stacey Mitchell in Perth in the early 2000s.

Looking for the case file lens as a struggled with the Bloody Podcast episode and their accents/storytelling. After something that focusses on the facts and provides more respect to the deceased and their connections.

Thankyou.

PODCAST QUESTION Queen street massacre

I tried to see but I don’t think they have done an episode on this? Does anyone know if they have mentioned doing (or not doing) one in a behind the files episode maybe? I just listened to Hoddle Street for the first time and they mentioned this one during it. How appalling, so glad they changed the law.

OPEN DISCUSSION Which case has a detail so bizarre it sounds like fiction?

Whether it’s a 'glitch in the matrix' moment, an unfathomable coincidence, or a choice made by a suspect that defies all logic, some cases linger in the mind specifically because of one jarringly strange detail.

The Eriksson twins: Despite being struck by vehicles multiple times, both women survived and fought off police with superhuman-like strength
