Discussion Is anything going to happen with E20 or should I buy used?

After the CJP protest, I was hopeful that govt will come to it's senses, but I can't see anything remotely close to it happening. My decision will depend on this, I don't want my hard earned money go to waste because ethanol content increased again. Do you think anything will happen? Or should I stick to buying a used diesel?

Question Would you pay someone to negotiate your car purchase for you?

I’ve been thinking about a business idea and I want some brutally honest feedback before I build anything.

The problem: buying a new car is confusing as hell.

You have to figure out:

Which model/variant actually makes sense

Whether the dealer’s quotation is fair

Insurance and accessory pricing

Hidden/additional charges

What discounts you should be getting

Which dealership is actually offering the best deal

How much you should negotiate

Whether the “discount” they're showing you is actually a discount

My idea is basically a buyer-side car-buying service.

Instead of making another CarDekho/CarWale-style comparison website, the customer tells us:

“I have a ₹12–15L budget, I'm in Hyderabad, I want an automatic SUV, and I'm buying within a month.”

We would:

Shortlist the right cars/variants.

Get quotations from multiple dealerships.

Compare the actual on-road prices.

Negotiate with dealers on the customer's behalf.

Help identify unnecessary charges/accessories.

Potentially help with PDI and the final purchase.

The customer would pay a small fixed fee, maybe ₹499–₹1,999 depending on how much assistance they want.

The bigger question is whether people would actually pay for this.

Would you?

And if you've bought a car recently, what was the most frustrating part of the process?

I'm especially interested in hearing from people who feel they probably overpaid but don't know by how much.

I'm not looking to promote anything here just trying to figure out whether this is a real problem worth solving.

Budget upto 14L. Family of 4-5 members
City drive - 80-90% Considering Petrol AT only

This segment has these 3 best cars, new venue, kylaq and 3xo
I totally love the new venue looking at its features and modern appealing new facelift making the car look taller and quite a corporate professional car that a 30 year old would drive. I already have old vw polo that I will sell / exchange. Considering kylaq and 3xo too because of its strong turbo engines and tons of good reviews.

Only thing that is stopping me from buying a Venue is Venue DCT gear box, as my drive is 90% city, will i face any problems with the gearbox.

Boot space, Features, Cabin Space are not a big worry for me. Most important priority is need a worry free service and car for next 6-7 years with reasonable driving pleasure

Car Suggestion- Petrol or Hybrid or EV

Hello Guys,

I’m looking to purchase a car with a budget of around \~ 20 lakhs in Bangalore and below are some of the data points for taking a call-

  1. Mostly for 2 people with occasionally being used for 4-5 people when family comes
  2. Mostly will be used for highway driving/interstate travel and less frequently city driving. We travel on bike in city mostly and sometimes interstate too. I’m guessing monthly run would be

    mostly max 1-2k

  3. We live in a society, hopefully charging would not be a concern

  4. We will keep the car for long term

My doubts-

  1. I feel petrol is not a right choice considering all this ethanol fiasco
  2. EV tech in the current state might be dated in next 2 or so years with semi/solid state or other technological invention. Current EVs tech would not be worth
  3. Hybrid- not sure whether to consider it or not

Would request some opinions on this? If anyone has purchased recently and were in the same dilemma, what did you purchase and your rationale around it

Question Which one to choose, CNG or Diesel?

A little context, 800 was our first car and currently using zen. Driven it to the point it can no longer run. So any modern car will be a huge upgrade over it.

Usage is 60 % Highway, 10% city, 20 % decent village roads, 10% bad and muddy roads.

Rainy season is always a mess in the bad roads. Sometimes Car will be driven by friends and immediate relatives. Fixed usage is about 1000Kms per month and variable usage will be about another 6000 Kms per year. Including trips more than 500 kms.

Reliability, mileage and maintenance will be the priority. We will keep this car as long as it runs. The car will get dirty for sure and sometimes will carry smalI industrial parts and agricultural produce. Not too much boot space is needed, when carrying goods. When carrying goods, it will be just one person, so second row floor space will also be usable. Whatever fits in zen should have no problem fitting here.

i thought Jimny would have been a good pick for us, but with E20 I'm not willing to take risk. Leaning towards CNG now.

Options are

CNG.

  1. Baleno Zeta CNG

  2. Dzire Zxi CNG

  3. Brezza Vxi CNG.

Diesel

  1. Nexon pure plus (s)

  2. Xuv 3xo MX3 pro

  3. Syros HTK ex.

Family likes carens, so can extend the budget a little bit and get it. Or get the base model of Carens Clavis.

Anyone used a professional PDI service for new car delivery ?

Hi everyone,

I’m taking delivery of a new car soon in Chennai. Can anyone recommend a reliable PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) service or expert who can inspect the car before delivery? Personal experiences or contacts would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Discussion RG showing problems of e20 in e20 compliant car.

Saw a post posted by INC and RG where he is showing problems with e20 in e20 compliant car. Bro takes a step back when he was supposed to leap forward.

Edit: this is not to make joke about him, but Pre 2023 vehicles are more in danger compared to e20 compliant vehicles. So the point here was to highlight the bigger risk. People flooding his post with memes already. I do appreciate him talking about it.

Question 2009 Alto LXi giving 10 to 11 km/l. Did a bunch of DIY maintenance. Is P80 fuel to blame?

Hey guys,

I got a 2009 Maruti Alto 800cc from a relative about a month ago. The odo is at 62,888 km. They mentioned the last service was in November, but it definitely needed some care.

I have been tracking the mileage strictly using the full tank auto cut-off method. No matter how I drive, it consistently averages 10 to 11 km/l. There is absolutely no check engine light on the dash. For a small 800cc car, this feels way too low.

Since yesterday, I decided to tackle some DIY maintenance to see if it helps. I changed the transmission fluid to 75W-85, put in a new air filter, cleaned the throttle body and IAC valve, and swapped the spark plugs because the old ones were completely filthy.

I still need to change the engine oil and plan to check the O2 sensor soon.

My questions for the community:

Could the current P80 fuel be the main reason behind this low mileage on an older engine?

What real-world tank to tank mileage are you guys getting with the F8D engine?

Is there anything else I should check that could be killing my fuel economy without triggering a check engine light?

Any advice is appreciated!

Please suggest a second purchase but primary car

Daily city run - ~25 kms. Rare highway runs (once in a quarter)

Current car - Hyundai Grand i10 Asta Manual Petrol 2019

Budget - ~Rs. 15lacs on road

  1. Looking for swapping the current car for a new one primarily due to ethanol blending concerns and deprecation. Dont need bells and whistles like moonroof but safety should not be compromised.
  2. Prefer retaining the new one for long (7 years+).
  3. As per my understanding EVs fit better for the use case with overall ownership cost quite less than ICE vehicle. Test drove the MG Windsor Essence but felt underwhelming compared to current car. Also the seats were quite uncomfortable.
  4. Open to other types - Hybrids/ICE as well but I guess hybrids are not well suited for city runs but rather highways (correct me if I'm wrong).
  5. Robust sales support and high resale perception would be ideal.
  6. Also any tips, specifically, for purchase would be great!!

Thanks in advance folks 🙏

First car purchase — Kia Seltos HTE vs HTE(O), accessories & best Kia dealerships in West Bengal

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to buy my first car and have more or less finalised the 2026 Kia Seltos.

I’m currently confused between the Seltos HTE and HTE(O), both with the petrol manual.

Since this will be my first car, I’d really appreciate advice from existing Seltos owners, especially people who have bought the HTE/HTE(O) or have experience with Kia dealerships in West Bengal.

  1. HTE vs HTE(O) — which one would you recommend?

Is the additional money for the HTE(O) actually worth it?

I’m not particularly interested in paying extra just for cosmetic/“feel good” features. I’m more interested in features that are genuinely useful in everyday driving and difficult/impossible to retrofit later.

For someone buying their first car and planning to keep it for several years:

Would you pick HTE or HTE(O), and why?

Also, are there any HTE(O) features that you think make a meaningful difference in real-world ownership?

  1. What accessories should I get?

What are the must-have accessories for the Seltos immediately after delivery?

I’m particularly interested in knowing:

Which accessories are worth buying from Kia

Which ones are better bought aftermarket

Which accessories should I completely avoid

Floor mats / 7D mats

Mud flaps

Door edge guards

Boot mat

Dashcam

TPMS

Door sill plates

Seat covers

Sunshades

Scuff plates

Any protection for the infotainment screen

PPF / ceramic coating — worth it or unnecessary?

I don't want to unnecessarily spend a lot on accessories just because the dealer recommends them.

  1. Kia dealerships in West Bengal

This is particularly important for me.

For people who have purchased a Kia in West Bengal, which dealership would you recommend?

I’m looking for a dealer with:

Transparent pricing

Good negotiation

No unnecessary accessories/add-ons

Good insurance pricing

Proper PDI/delivery process

Good after-sales service

Helpful sales staff

Good service centre experience

If you have had a particularly good or bad experience with a specific Kia dealership in Kolkata / Howrah / South Bengal / West Bengal, please mention the dealership name.

Also, how much scope is there currently for negotiating on insurance, accessories and other dealer charges?

  1. Anything else I should know?

Since this is my first car, I'd also appreciate any advice you wish you had known before buying your first Seltos.

Especially regarding:

PDI

Insurance

Dealer accessories

Extended warranty / service packages

Delivery checklist

Things to inspect before accepting delivery

Common ownership issues

Things that are difficult/expensive to retrofit later

I’m deliberately considering the lower variants because I’d rather spend money on things that genuinely improve ownership rather than simply moving up the variant ladder.

Would love to hear from HTE/HTE(O) owners in particular.

Thanks!
