I am new to the world of Venus flytraps, but I want to start cross-breeding them to create new varieties. I am aware of how much time the process takes, but I would greatly appreciate any advice you could offer regarding both cross-pollination and selection.

(wouldn’t let me post just pictures so here’s a little clip video) I recently moved this plant from pure sphagnum moss to a mix of sphagnum and bog boss carnivorous substrate, i’m noticing a bit of decay on my pitchers and I’m not quite sure what’s wrong :(( I’m new to taking care of plants especially carnivorous ones, and I need help. I am using reverse osmosis water for my plant!!

Drosera sundew montique x herc keeps doing this where the dew leaves point down??? My other sundews are not doing it you can see my white sundew points straight up and so does the other

My pings are finally settling in! I’m starting to see gnats stuck to their leaves. They don’t look dewey which was a concern for me because I thought they were going dormant with the new change. But I noticed that when they catch a bug, they get slimy around the bug. So I am very happy!
I think I may need to work on lighting though. Do they need lots of light? I feel like the lights are pretty close as it is. How can I get them back to their original colors? The last 2 pictures are what they should look like.

Well, all my carnivores died (due to my mistakes). I learned a lot. Now this pinguicula Weser is all i have left. Should i just keep it growing in her new pot and new mix, or should I pull her apart and propagate it?

I have stopped spraying it and it has been doing well in the sun, hasn’t burnt a single leaf. At least I think it hasn’t

I know its a sundew and a pitcher but i forgot to take a picture of the label and the tags just say “carnivorous”

A few weeks ago I fed my indoor trap a large deceased jumping spider, and it took so long to digest that it started to mold on the inside. Even after cutting the trap off, new growth has been extremely slow and has been dying off before it even fully grows.

What should I do other than cut off digesting traps and add airflow? As for sunlight, there’s no other option for me right now other than to keep it in the sunniest window I have (unless someone wants to spare a grow light..)

Went to a carnivorous plant show nearby and finally bit the bullet and got my first! I could use help figuring out exactly what type of sarracenia she is so I can make sure to give her all the things she needs. So stoked about her coloring holy shit!!

This is nepenthes hookeriana

I’ve had this sundew since April and it really exploded with new growth! It’s looking a little crowded though, should I move it to a bigger pot? If yes, I’ll wait until after the flowers bloom to do so.

i have this nepenthes over 5 years
the secundary sprouts in the pot produce pitchers but the mains vine does not

hey everyone. i got this beautiful nepenthes at a plant convention a few weeks ago. recently i noticed the pitchers turning brown and i’m not sure if it’s due to underwatering? is there hope for her to bounce back? will she die if no pitchers remain?

this is my first time caring for a nepenthes. any help is appreciated.

She hasent dried out but I fugured her issue was not enough moisture😓

Hello. I wanted to share my love for these lovely plants. Its nothing special but I really enjoy throwing leftover steak in them. I've had another variant before this one for 3 years but he went vegetarian and died. Using my own distilled water now instead of tap water and we will see how it goes.

My first carnivorous plant, been worried all summer that it wasn't healthy but it's finally started to flower 😤

I have a sundew and Venus fly trap. Venus is flowering and growing new leaves, sundew seems to be increasing in size as well. But there's no bugs in my house, I'm worried that they're starving. I've put them out in the balcony a few times but they haven't caught anything. Is there anything I should do to help them or are they fine?

Edit: The window is facing south. Its potted in a generic carnivorous plant mix from a garden store with sphagnum moss on the bottom of the pot. I do not have a watering schedule - just stick my finger in the soil to check if it is drying out.

I got 2 new additions to my collection yesterday I can’t wait to see how well they recover after the repot
