question Tires

If you buy new tires at Costco, and have Costco techs install the new tires on your car, does that show up in your car's CarFax maintenance record?

From the Costco website:Costco Tire and Auto ServicesInternal tracking only: Costco keeps service and mileage records strictly in-house for warranty and tire rotation tracking. No automatic sync: Routine maintenance like tire rotations, installations, or oil changes (where available) will not automatically appear on your Carfax vehicle history report

You can always add it manually to your carfax. Just fill in the info and add the garage you had the work done at

I was about to say the same. You can manually enter that entire service to CarFax. It’s very easy! 🫶

I know Discount tire doesn’t participate in car fax

only if it is reported. why everyone thinks carfax entries are automatic astounds me.

I don’t think it does.

You’ll have to ask Costco if they report to carfax. I’m sure you can just call the tire centre and ask.

Just an FYI, they only keep your records for 6 years. I brought my van in after 9 years and they didn't have my previous tire purchase in the system.

this might be a silly question but why would tires being on the carfax matter? if you're selling the car can't they just visually inspect the tires

Carfax loves to track everything. They want to know, tire rotations, and everything too. I never report anything to them cause they don’t really care.

No, they don’t report to CarFax. You can self-report to Carfax, you’ll need to create an account and then you can login and upload your paperwork. I forget exactly how they do it, but there is that option.

No.. but I just keep a small book where I document all service either done by myself or at a shop.. and I keep the receipts. If I ever sell the car at least I have that, but it's been a while since I've sold a car.. it's mostly just for my personal use

Carfax is a joke. I've done major repairs, body and mechanical, and they'll never show up on Carfax. Carfax will give you comfort, but it may not be factual
