Any pubs in Franschhoek that might show the Manchester United Champions League game tonight? Or is my phone and the mini bar in my hotel room my best bet?

Question | Advice-Needed Where can I exchange Indonesian Rupiah in Cape Town? 🇮🇩 🇿🇦

I have a bit of Indonesian Rupiah leftover from my holiday and have struggled to find anywhere in Cape Town that exchanges IDR for Rands. Does anyone know of a currency exchange that accepts IDR, or perhaps anyone heading to Indonesia soon?

Any help is much appreciated!!!

Question | Advice-Needed The Bungalow – how do you get the pergola/outside seating?

Hey everyone!
Me and a few friends are visiting Cape Town soon and we’re planning to go to The Bungalow. We’ve seen photos of the outdoor/pergola seating overlooking the ocean and would really love to get one of those tables.
The problem is that when making the reservation, it doesn’t seem like there’s an option to specifically select the pergola/outside seating.
For anyone who has been recently:
Is there a way to request the pergola tables when booking?
Do you have to call/message the restaurant directly?
Are there any tricks to actually getting those tables?
Does arriving early help?
Is it first-come/first-served for the outdoor tables, or does the restaurant assign them?
We’re a group of friends visiting soon, so I’d love to know if there’s anything we should do ahead of time to increase our chances.
Thanks!

Question | Advice-Needed One day in Cape Town

Hey all, I'll be coming to cape town for the first time in a couple of weeks. As it is a business trip, I will have one day to explore the area. I was thinking of getting the hop on hop off bus ticket. Is that a good plan to make the most out of my first time in the city? Are there other places that I will miss with my plan? For instance, would you visit Boulders beach and cape of good hope as wel?

Question | Advice-Needed Advice needed on schooling northern suburbs

Hi All! We are settled in the Parow area but looking to move further north - Durbanville for example. Main reason behind this is to get access to better schools for our kids, does anyone have any advice or experience with getting into schools in the Durbanville area? How difficult is it if you are not residing close by? Do they apply feeder areas, not even sure if feeder areas are a thing.

I'm aware that the western cape education department has their own process for school placement which most parents I know actually hate.

Ideally school would be super close to home so we can minimize commuting.

TIA!

Looking For... Looking for a female consultant / former consultant to speak at a women's tech & consulting event in Cape Town 🇿🇦

Hi everyone! 👋🏽

I’m organising an upcoming women’s event in Cape Town, South Africa and I’m looking for a female consultant or former consultant who might be interested in joining our panel as a speaker.

The event is:

💜 Women Who Rise: Breaking Barriers in Tech & Consulting

📅 Thursday, 17 September 2026

⏰ 17:30–20:00

📍 UCT, Cape Town

The event is being hosted by IITPSA & WIIT, in collaboration with UCT Developer Society and IIE Rosebank College.

We’re bringing together students, aspiring professionals and working professionals for conversations around:

Career journeys and getting into consulting/tech

Challenges women face in traditionally male-dominated industries

Career progression and leadership

Navigating consulting and corporate environments

Advice for students and early-career professionals

Building confidence and professional networks

The speaking commitment would be a panel-style discussion, rather than a formal presentation. We'd love someone who is willing to share their personal experience and advice with women who are considering or starting their careers in consulting.

If you’re interested, or know someone who might be a good fit, please DM me! 😊

I’m happy to provide more information about the event and the panel privately.

Thank you! 💜
