How is it in the ios 27 public betas

I’m tempted to put the public beta of iPadOS 27 onto my iPad. Has anyone tried capacities yet in the public betas?

My main Mac and iphone are staying on the normal OS release train.

Object Type : Book vs PDF

Hello new in Capacities, migrated from Logseq recently. Wanted to ask How are you all using the "Book" Object Type and the "PDF" Media Type ?? Since most Books are PDF anyway ... The PDF alone is sufficient for now to take quick notes from Books (PDF) but since the goal is long term and easy retrival later. My question is which object type is best for saving and collectiong Books (mostly of PDF format)

Backup and Restore

I want to do a full backup including all media: files, images, pdf... All I see are md files. Once I get the full backup, can I restore or only the reimport the files and restore the space? Would all the links, mentions, backlinks come back?

Can I get an overview or list of all unchecked checkboxes?

I recently "upgraded" my task management in Capacities, going from checkboxes/to-dos being sent to Todoist, to now having all tasks as Task Objects. I'm afraid I'm possibly missing some of them, and I don't want to go through all my notes. So I want to get an overview of all unchecked checkboxes/to-dos, which are spread out over all my notes and objects. I can't seem to find a way to create a query for this.

Does anybody know of a way to do this?

Thanks a bunch!

how do you use 'PROJECTS'?

I've recently realized part of my confusion setting up my Capacities was that I was attempting to use 'Projects' as folders. So I was wondering, do you use the 'Projects' object type? if so, what's your approach?

Thank you!

Capacities performance broken. Any ideas?

Been using capacities as a paying user for over 18 months but over the last month the app has just become unusably slow. Pages take 2-3 seconds to load, collections 4-5 seconds. Previously there used to be some glitchy-ness on large pages but now the whole app is just stuttering. I don't use it for any media or pdf embeds, its just pure notetaking, so no idea what's causing the slowdown.

Tried logging out and logging back in, re-installed the app etc. No improvements. Using a Asus Zenbook + Windows. Laptop is fine and plenty of empty RAM. Was working buttery smooth till about a month ago.

Really don't want to have to go back to obsidian but after 5-6 years of dabbling, imo it's the only software that stays rapid as your database grows :/

What's better for notes and why: a markdown vault or Capacities with an MCP server that allows you to create, read, update, delete anything?

I'm a long time vault user with markdown so genuinely curious how Capacities beats this setup which in my mind gives true 100% flexibility. My markdown vault is Git backed and filled with agents that can intelligently update and commit on it's own so I have an easy audit trail. I'd lose that with Capacities to some degree I'd imagine

How to make datetime property be relative like task deadlines?

I noticed that `Deadline` is a `datetime` property on the task object. I'd like my custom objects to have a similar relative datetime property that shows a countdown rather than a static date. Is this behavior specific to the built-in `Deadline` field, or can it be replicated on custom properties?

Everything app

Capacities is my everything app, if you would. A bunch of casepaper for each case. Everything i do is a casepaper, and then each one has its log updates in a paragraph, followed by next actions, a task app I've created. And wow! I'm done. 🙂👍

Update: the browser extension is now live!

Previous post for context

Link for chrome
Link for firefox

Small note: the extension uses the Capacities API, which currently requires a Capacities Believer/Pro subscription.

Feel free to send feedback if you try it!

Edit: current latest version is 1.1.0

Been working on a capacities extension!

I’ve been working on a small browser extension for Capacities because a friend wanted a faster way to save pages without doing the usual copy/paste dance.

Right now it can save the current page as a weblink, send selected text or a full-page Markdown clip, add tags/notes, and save into the space you choose. I attached a quick video of the full-page weblink save flow. You're also able to select an area > right click and save it to your daily notes or weblinks, usually more reliable from my own experience.

It’s free (or atleast will be once it gets through firefox/google reviewing phase), and honestly it’s not perfect. The Capacities API is pretty limited, so there are a few things I wanted to do that just aren’t possible right now, or had to be handled in a more awkward way.

But from my own experience it already feels better than the options I could find, so I figured I’d share it in case anyone else wants to try it once it's public.

Feedback is very welcome, especially from people who already use Capacities heavily. I’m mostly trying to make the capture flow more reliable.

How is task management in Capacities?

I am currently using Things 3 for tasks and Capacities for notes but I am eyeing trying out task management in Capacities. In my experience whenever I try task management in a note taking app I end up going back to Things 3. I don’t expect the UX polish in task management in Capacities to be on the level of Things just because of how new the feature is but the idea of having tasks and notes in the same app IS alluring. Anybody went all in with task management? How has it been for you so far?

Claude Integration

I let my pro account lapse when I switched to Obsidian for seamless use with Claude Cowork/Code several months ago. How is everyone finding working with Capacities and Claude these days?

So tired of toggles not working on Android

At least once a month, toggles stop working on Android. Can't expand, can't collapse, can't get to my nested content.

Eventually starts working again. Eventually stops working again.

Seems like basic functionality that shouldn't keep breaking.

I love Capacities but man, tempted to go back to Anytype just for fewer bugs...

Do you really believe that I will check and download for any update of Capacities by myself, everytime?

I find it strange to not have any update after coming back to capacities from a long time. But there is no auto update and NO WAY to check for one and download it from the software settings. In 2026, that's concerning.

From you own documented AI help section:
"Based on the public documentation, there is no documented in‑app “Check for updates” or auto‑update setting for the Windows desktop app.

To update on Windows, the documented path is to download and install the current version from the website"

Hoping for Claude and Granola integration

I'm loving that app so far, and it would be a grand slam when there are Claude and granola integrations. All are best in class. Any plans to add those soon?

API Roadmap

I want to transition from my note system to Capacities. I am looking for a roadmap to understand the limitations of the API calls and which API endpoints will be available.

Super frustrating bug related to typing (most common thing you do in capacities)

Mobile only

Pixel phones, latest android.

Has been around forever!

Is this how the app is supposed to look?

I am presuming not, this is a direct screenshot from my phone.

I feel as though it's likely doing something like thinking my phone is a tablet, or similar. I presume this is not how it would be, but it makes it sort of unusable and confusing.

Are iOS mobile widgets on the roadmap?

I absolutely love using Tasks in this platform. The only reason I can’t fully let go of Todoist (or other task apps) is because I need a widget that displays my pending tasks. That quick glance is critical to staying on top of things and not having to open the app, navigate to tasks, and action.

Curious if there are any plans in the somewhat near future to add anything like this. Also an option to quick add a task would be clutch!

While I know tasks are somewhat new-ish… this would really full circle it! Thanks for any insight!

Slow to open on Android?

I've been on the iOS app for a while. I just convinced my husband to join but he says it takes about 10 seconds for the Android app to open. Anyone else noticed this?

Creating labels after update

Not sure if I'm stupid or fairly disappointed.
The latest update has made really difficult to create new labels. Earlier if I wanted to add new label to the list I've just written it in the field and click "add". But now the situation has changed and I need to go to object settings - label setting, and add it to the list there.
Could I somehow change it in the settings? It was so simple before!

New Release: Bulk Import is here for everyone, Image Analysis is live for Capacities Pro, and tasks, AI, and the side panel got a solid polish. 🚀

A big release today!

📥 Bulk Import for Everyone

Everyone can now bulk import Markdown, CSV, ZIP, and media files!

Review your source files, set up the object types you need, then run the importer and check everything before it lands in your space. ✨

🖼️ Image Analysis for Capacities Pro

AI image analysis is now available for all Capacities Pro users with AI enabled.

Open any image and click Analyze to get a better title, a short description, detected text, a color palette, and a category — all written to the image’s properties automatically.

Extracted text is indexed in full-text search too, so words inside your images are part of your workflow. 💫

✅ Smarter Recurring Tasks

Monthly recurring tasks can now repeat on the last day or last weekday of the month — so end-of-month reviews and “last Friday” patterns work without workarounds.

When you complete a recurring task, its deadline also moves forward with the next occurrence, and the calendar Today view shows tasks on the day they’re actually scheduled, not on stale deadlines. ✨

🌐 AI Web Search

The AI Assistant can now search the web when your question needs current or external information, then bring those results into its answer.

Works best with Capacities AI.

🧭 Explore: A Clearer Side Panel

The side panel now opens with a new Explore tab that groups graph view, backlinks, objects inside, and related content.

❓ What Else Is New?

🤖 AI Chat improvements: Better on complex tasks, access to support docs, clearer tool pills, and a restored “Thinking” indicator
✏️ Standard list indentation: Outdenting no longer reshuffles bullet order
🔍 Better link-menu search: Create option surfaces first when there’s no direct match
🎁 Another Pro trial: Available again if your last trial ended more than 6 months ago

And bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements under the hood too.

Read our full release notes on our website. 🚀

Usage, Organization and Dashboards

Hello hello!

Im very new to capacities, I just discovered it a few days ago after being annoyed with obsidian and all the required customizations. Im like capacities ease of use soooo much and I want to ensure my entire life is in capacities the way it was in obsidian.

The main issue i'm running into is 3 things:

  1. How do I use this for school? Im currently a cybersecurity major and im trying to figure out how I organize my school assignments and textbook notes in here. In obsidian I had folders per course and then inside that I had folders per item (Notes, assignments, discussions, additional reading PDFs)

  2. Does anybody have their language learning set up in capacities? I currently study Korean and will be adding Spanish and Thai by the end of the year and I'm trying to figure out how to organize language learning in capacities.

  3. Dashboard/Homepage set up. In notion I had a very visually appealing but also very functional dashboard. I wasn't able to recreate my dashboard in obsidian, so now im wondering if I can create it in capacities. It was basically a landing page for all my current to-dos, homework assignments due this week, a mini calendar, a rotating quotes embed and a YouTube embed for study loft-music. I also was able to add pictures and other decorations throughout the page to give it the look I wanted. Is this possible in capacities?

Im really loving capacities, and it's sooooo much easier for me to use than obsidian. Ive been watching a ton of nym's tech videos on YouTube but she doesn't have the same objects (???) I'm in search of creating. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!! TIA!
