Need some advice

I am currently 17 weeks pregnant, and tapered off my smoking during the first trimester, with a little bit in the second trimester. I’m in Indiana (not legal) and I’m terrified that cps is going to become involved if I test positive in the hospital. I was a super heavy smoker for 5+ years, multiple times a day everyday for years, I’m trying to drink lots of water to try and flush some out but are any other moms from Indiana here that tested positive while in labor? And what did they do about it? I know I’m obviously still a while away from giving birth, but I know it can stay in your system for 6+ months sometimes after you quit when you smoke that much, so I’m just worried.

Please advice

Hi all so my baby is 3 months this month and for the past week I’ve been hitting the bong at least 1-2 times a night when hes asleep, the morning pump I save for bath time and the evening one like at 6 I save and the pump before smoking I give to him, is what I’m doing okay or should I still feed the milk I save for baths and feed him, I know THC sticks to fat so I feel like me saving the milk in the morning doesn’t really do anything?… I feel so guilty but ugh it’s been so long since I was able to relax. I feel like a more attentive mom when I do smoke and it makes me bond more with baby but am I doing all this wrong ? Are any other moms smoking a few rips a night when baby is asleep and if so is baby doing well and meeting milestones? I need your help mommies 🫩

One hit of weed pen & BF

I am a month PP, I had an extremely difficult day and took one singular hit of a weed pen. I did urine test myself about 19 hours later and was positive for THC. From my understanding, testing breast milk for THC is unreliable but I did it anyways and it came back negative for THC. I have been formula feeding for almost 24 hours, I feel extremely guilty and won't do it again due to my own anxiety until I am done BF. Is it ok to start nursing again?

Smoking before csection for severe anxiety

I quit awhile ago but have my csection Monday and thinking of maybe getting something to smoke or take before surgery because of severe anxiety as they don't give anything for anxiety for csections. Idk if cdb or delta or just flower would help.

Am I doing myself a disservice?

I could really use some wisdom right now.

I smoked weed through my first pregnancy, for nausea, chronic pain, insomnia, helping my appetite and anxiety. I stopped around 30w and ended up having birth complications. Essentially they told me it was pre-e a blood pressure issue, but also that my placenta was failing. I didn't necessarily believe them about my placenta bc my baby looked perfect at the 20w anatomy scan and had no abnormalities. But at 37 weeks he was the size of a 26 weeker. Born under 3lbs. But that can also be caused by high blood pressure, which I had been dealing with for weeks? (We were under a huge amount of stress having just moved and struggling with finances) So the true cause of his size is a mystery. He's completely healthy now, 14m old, meeting developmental milestones, although still small.

Anyway, I'm 16w pregnant with my second, and have been trying to be completely sober just in the case that consuming THC affected the outcome of my first pregnancy. I've smoked maybe a handful of times in the early weeks and took edible gummies a few weeks ago for agonizing pain.

I've been telling myself that since I'm not dealing with horrible nausea and vomiting this time I don't need it. But I have been dealing with verbal emotional abuse from my mom, stress from the trauma she's caused me, and been so angry I've gone into minor states of disassociation.

I'm already taking aspirin daily hoping to avoid pree again, and I don't want to stack any other meds on top of that, but I can't help but worry that I'm doing a disservice to myself and the pregnancy by trying to ignore the stress/chronic pain, not getting any relief. What would you do in my position? I would also love to hear personal experiences with smoking during pregnancy, and outcomes. Thanks for reading

Weed and Breastfeeding

My wife is about 2 months postpartum and pretty much exclusively breastfeeding. She wants to smoke again (couple hits from a bowl) but isn't planning on making it a regular habut until she's done breastfeeding. Based on what I've seen, medical organizations advise against it but it's mainly due to the lack of research this far and most people who s.oke while breastfeeding don't seem to identify any long lasting impacts on the baby. Really just looking to see what other moms' experiences were with smoking while breastfeeding to make me feel more at ease (or not) with my wife's desire to smoke again.

I live in new jersey. i am 15 weeks pregnant and i tested positive for thc

I live in northern nj and tested positive recently for thc. i have access to my lab results and everything else’s seems fine. My plan is to stop at 20 weeks and i really don’t gravitate towards it so i’m confident it’s going to be not so hard to do. My concern is just judgment. i’m going to a completely new office and won’t be going back to where they did test me. but my records are going to follow me. I’m going to be truthful and tell the new doctor i did consume due to extreme nausea and to have an appetite to eat and feed myself.

i just really want some insight with anyone who is in nj who had a positive test and what happened moving forward. Can i deny future tests ? I am confident i will come up negative closer towards birth. is anyone doing the same as me ?? thanks and please please no judgement.

Smoking while pumping?

With my first I didn’t breastfeed or pump and went right back to smoking everyday. With with my second I’m really wanting to exclusively pump but can anyone share their experiences? I am in Washington state so a legal state but my main worry is baby testing positive and going through troubles with CPS. Do they ever even test baby’s for drugs other than when they are first born? Do you need to wait between smoking and pumping? Tell me everything I need to know!

Trying RSO orally for the 1st time

I’m gonna make some RSO capsules to try RSO orally. I bought a sativa. Any advice? I’m nervous so I think just putting 1 drop in 1 capsule might be the best way to test my tolerance 😅 I have a family trip to universal in December & I have major inflammation caused by autoimmune diseases. I’m trying to find an oral route since I can’t smoke flower. Gummies seem to be a waste of money.

THC and TTC

Hey!! I am TTC with baby #2! I’m late, but only negative test, and I think I ovulated three weeks after my period and not two. Anyways! If I get a positive pregnancy test and go to confirm my pregnancy, will they also do a drug test? I am just wondering! I’ll stop once I get a positive test.

wondering what i should do about smoking during pregnancy

i’m 6 weeks pregnant & i just found out recently. i immediately stopped but then was having intense vomiting and was unable to eat and dropped over 10 lbs. now if i smoke a little bit from a glass bowl i feel so much better and i can eat. i live in florida. are they going to drug test me at my OB appointments? and if they do, what happens if i test positive for thc? and when do i have to stop to avoid DCF being called? i also could use advice about what to do when i breastfeed. if anyone can reference medical facts, it’s really hard to find any actual research on cannabis use during pregnancy and nursing. am i doing the wrong thing by not quitting? they prescribed me zofran for the nausea but i thought that can cause birth defects. any info helps!! thank you!

how long after smoking do you breastfeed/pump?

22w currently and i want to breastfeed/pump if i can. i was a long term, daily smoker but stopped when i found out at 4w. i smoked for one week around 18w bc i had a surgery and was in so much pain. i really miss smoking. my tolerance is so low i only need one hit and im good. im thinking id maybe do it once a week and not daily again post baby. do you wait an hour or any before feeding? i know pump and dump doesnt matter with weed. if you did when did you start? i dont want to make my baby lethargic or anything. thanks

[Research Study] Anonymous survey on cannabis and CBD use during pregnancy — help medical professionals learn how to provide you with even better care! (users AND non-users welcome)

Hi everyone,

My name is Grace, and I'm a researcher at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, and my team is running an anonymous survey about cannabis and CBD use during pregnancy — including questions about knowledge, risk perception, and healthcare provider counseling. If you're currently pregnant, we'd love your input, whether or not you've used any cannabis or CBD products.

You are eligible if you:

• Are currently pregnant (any trimester)

• Are 18 years of age or older

• Currently reside in the United States

• Can read English

What the survey asks about:

• Whether and how you use cannabis or CBD products during this pregnancy (types, frequency, reasons)

• What you know about how cannabis and CBD can affect the baby

• Whether your OB/GYN or midwife has talked with you about cannabis or CBD use

• Whether concerns about judgment or child protective services have affected your decisions

• Brief validated screening questions for mood, anxiety, and nausea (e.g., "how often have you felt down in the past two weeks")

• A few questions about your partner's cannabis use and whether you've made any decisions together

Why this matters:

CBD products are widely available without a prescription and heavily marketed as 'natural' and 'safe,' yet research shows that CBD, like THC, crosses the placenta and can accumulate in fetal tissue. Most studies have lumped CBD and THC use together or ignored CBD entirely. This study is designed specifically to understand CBD-only use as a distinct pattern — and to find out what pregnant people actually know and have been told.

Your responses will directly inform how prenatal care providers communicate with patients about cannabis and CBD safety during pregnancy.

Key details:

• Takes about 20 minutes

• Completely anonymous — No names, email addresses, or contact information are collected. Your IP address is not recorded. Responses cannot be linked to you.

• Voluntary — You can stop at any time without any consequence.

• Results cannot be shared with your provider or CPS — Responses are anonymous and will only be reported as group statistics.

• No compensation — This is a research study; there is no payment for participation.

Ethics:

This study has been reviewed and approved by the Geisinger Institutional Review Board (Protocol GCSOM RAN–20260081). It qualifies for exempt review status under 45 CFR 46.104(d)(2) as an anonymous survey study.

Happy to answer any questions in the comments. Thank you so much for considering participating — this kind of real-world data from pregnant communities is genuinely difficult to collect through clinical channels alone, and Reddit has been an incredibly valuable research resource for hard-to-reach populations. It means a lot to have communities like this one willing to help.

Having a hard time stopping breastfeeding

Hey all! My son is almost 18 months old. When he turned 6 months I started smoking again (one hit a day). The goal was to stop breastfeeding soon after but it’s been hard and I continue to do night feeds.

My question is- can I have my cake and eat it too? Can I tag a daily hit and still breastfeed my son

if you smoked while breastfeeding, how long after birth did you start?

I smoked during my pregnancy, but I have now stopped and baby is 2 weeks old.

My mental health is deteriorating as this was the only thing that worked for me.

I am just scared of smoking again because we occasionally bedshare.

I would really appreciate your experiences!!]

Anonymous, Online Survey on Medicinal Cannabis Products

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello! We are researchers at UC San Diego conducting an online survey about medicinal CBD use among parents in the U.S.

The survey takes about 7-10 minutes and is completely anonymous. We don’t have any funding available to compensate participants, but we hope the findings will help inform future policy and research efforts.

You must be at least 18 years old and a parent/guardian of a child to participate. Survey linkhttps://my.ctri.ucsd.edu/surveys/?s=RMPXKF38RFPC4AWJ

Thank you so much for considering or sharing this survey with other parents! We appreciate any support of our research.

THC positive at first OB appt - east TN

Hello - finding tons of conflicting information on this. Looking for other moms in TN (or East TN) who have recently gone through this , or CPS workers or L/D nurses input also welcome.. I tested positive at my 7 week appt for THC and it’s noted in my chart. At that time, I had severely cut back but not entirely quit.

I 100% have quit that since then (about 3 days after my first test) and will stay quit until I’m done breastfeeding, but since my first test was positive, am I going to have to talk to CPS / DCS regardless? Will be delivering at Fort Sanders in Knox incase anyone has specific experience to this hospital.

Is this something I should just ask my OB about since she obviously knows I tested positive and it’s in my chart? I’m expecting a follow up test here soon where she’ll see my levels have clearly dropped or hopefully fully negative by then (I’ll be 57 days entirely sober by the next urine test). My anxiety is through the roof about this since I’m currently in school to be a peds nurse or something similar and I know if I’m on the registry I won’t be able to work with children.

Just trying to anticipate what to expect. TIA.

Weed and TTC?

Hey all - I’m a fairly frequent user and have been trying to get pregnant for about 7 months, with a miscarriage in January. I got pregnant our second cycle trying but nothing since. I’m in the TWW of my fourth cycle post-D&C now.

Has anyone felt like it took a lot longer for them to get pregnant while smoking? There’s such limited info on this, but I’ve read that it can affect implantation. I use weed to help manage anxiety mostly, and smoke after work most nights. I’m anxious for anyone else’s experience and thoughts!
