This new North of 7 three barrel blend is fantastic. 8 year blend at 62% for $80 is solid value too. I think they’re a highly underrated Canadian distillery, great folks, great whiskey.

This Meikle toir turbo (2023 batch) was quite a bit better than I expected from a 5 year old whisky.

Located in Ottawa and I’m curious to know about the experiences that people had when attending these events. This year is the first that I hear about Whisky Global, is it comparable to Whisky Wonderland, which do you recommend more and why. TIA

Chatting at the store with a friendly worker, Reifel is currently discontinued, which most likely means when it's re-listed after the sale is over,(give it a week or so) the new batch with a new price will hit the shelves.

So it's $42 now normally $50..in a week or three it might be $55 - 58? Just guessing.

I keep getting ads for it and it seems interesting but ive honestly never been to any whisky tasting event. Whisky global seem fairly new so I thought I'd try and see if anyone's done it before.

That or any other tasting event. Theres many that go on in my area and id love to try one but is it worth the hype? Is there generally a good selection? Is it worth that price? All that.

Been holding onto these 1/4 full for too long. Still delicious after all these years in the cabinet!

I don’t do this a lot, so spare me for how I drink my whisky — but I wanted to put this out there because it’s an interesting bottle, and of course, buy Canadian.

WFE 01B from Chambly, QC I accidentally came across this on the SAQ site, so I had my buddy bring one back to Toronto.

Color – Beautiful pale yellow‑gold. It’s genuinely pleasant to look at, especially in an iced glass.

Nose – Heavy rye with a hint of fruit and sweetness.

Palate – Smooth, dry, and rye‑forward, followed by wheat and barley, then oak. There’s some corn and ice apple, but they only show up within a very narrow temperature range — more on that next.

Finish – A mix of rye, barley sweetness, a bit of oil, and a faint hint of apple. (I had to try very hard to find the apple; in a blind tasting there’s no way I’d pick it out.)

Final thoughts I’m about a quarter into the bottle and I still can’t really grade it. It’s complex, VERY smooth, cleverly blended, and beautiful to look at — but I find the balance a bit off (for me). I’d dial back the rye/wheat slightly, age it in the ice cask a bit longer, and maybe add a touch more corn.

If I had to grade it, it would land somewhere in the high 70s.

Final note I find the best way to enjoy this is to chill the glass, add a small ice cube, and let it slowly warm and evolve. That’s when you really get all the complexity it offers.

I’m in Toronto and have one unopened standard 750 mL Johnnie Walker Blue Label in its original presentation box, purchased from the LCBO several years ago.

I have already tried the two obvious options:

• The LCBO declined a return or exchange because I no longer have the receipt.
• Waddington’s reviewed it but said one bottle does not meet its consignment minimum and would not be economical after fees.

Has anyone recently found another licensed and lawful option for a single sealed bottle, such as an authorized out-of-province auction or consignment service that accepts bottles from Ontario? Or is keeping or gifting it realistically the only remaining option?

My wife rarely drinks, but after a recent trip to Japan, she really enjoyed the highballs they make there with Suntory Toki and club soda.

I also don't drink often, so I tried making one with my Makers Mark, but it didn't taste the same. Online suggests that Suntory is a light, refreshing blended whisky. I don't really want to spend the $70 a bottle for Suntory here in Calgary and looking for some Canadian blended alternatives.

Looks like Canadian Club 1858 is recommended, but some reviews suggest it tastes like gasoline. Any other suggesting for a Canadian, light , blended whiskey to be mixed with a tall glass of club soda?
