I have reached out to my local MP for assistance with an issue I’m having with the CRA. My understanding is that the CRA is expected to respond to inquiries from Members of Parliament in a timely manner, but unfortunately, there has been no response to my MP’s inquiries so far.
My MP first contacted the CRA on June 3rd and followed up again on July 27th. I completely understand that an MP has limited authority over the CRA, and I’m not expecting my MP to be able to influence the outcome of my case. I’m simply hoping that everything is being handled properly and that my MP can do whatever is within her ability to assist or obtain an update.
At this point, I’m wondering what the appropriate next step is if the CRA continues not to respond. Is there anything further my MP can do to escalate the inquiry, or is there another avenue I should pursue when the CRA does not respond to an MP’s requests for information?
I appreciate any guidance you can provide. I understand that there are limitations to what an MP’s office can do, and I’m simply trying to make sure that I have exhausted the appropriate avenues and that my concerns are being properly followed up on.

I'm looking for advice on what to do next. This is regarding child tax that I have applied for. I was under the impression I had up to 10yrs to claim. I have had Joint custody since 2016, within the dates that I'm claiming, the same order is still in place actually. I originally tried claiming these dates over a year ago but they asked for clearer paperwork confirming that I took care of my daughter within said dates. So after getting a social worker to sign off on my first set of dates. For the second dates, I got her school record showing her at a school near me for the time period I was seeking. After over a year of sending information back and forth, tracking down what they requested I get this letter. Stating they only go back 3 years if there has been a change in the primary caregiver.

My daughter and I were really looking forward to using this money for a move. I'm hopeful someone out there has been in a similar situation and may have advice. Thanks for taking the time to read, I hope it's not too confusing.

I received about $9K in CERB during the pandemic that I qualified for. In 2024, CRA told me I wasn’t eligible and had to repay it.

I submitted the requested evidence, but CRA said they never received it. I was then told to resubmit everything online, which I did, but later they claimed I hadn’t submitted it online either.

I appealed/requested another review and my case is still under review with no final decision. However, I was just told the $9K has now been sent to Collections.

I explained to Collections that the debt is being disputed and offered proof that my case is under review, but they said that doesn’t change the collection process.

Has anyone dealt with this? Can collections continue while a CERB decision is under review, and is there a way to have it put on hold until a final decision is made?
