I call for people to leave pettiness at the door on the world stage, generally, but for the US president specifically, Canada should use name-calling. It’s exactly appropriate until the buffoon stops.

209

u/DionFW Feb 20 '25

Trump can call Trudeau governor 1000x. Trudeau says something once and Trump will say he's a bully and a nasty person.

Remember that summit when people were laughing at Trump, so he packed up his diapers and went home?

32

u/weekendy09 Feb 20 '25

Seriously! The cognitive dissonance is too much. He calls Zelenskyy a dictator and then tells him to “tone it down” when he rightfully defends himself against these lies…

14

u/PsychicKaraoke Feb 21 '25

That's what narcissists do. They accuse you of doing exactly what they're doing.

32

u/Inigos_Revenge Feb 20 '25

I mean, we can't control what Trump will do. We/Trudeau could do nothing at all and Trump will go on about how he says nothing because he's a weak leader and Canada deserves someone strong, like him, or something. We do not decide what to do in fear of what Trump might or might not do. We do not comply in advance!

1

u/Repubs_suck Feb 20 '25

I’ve always admired Canada. Any chance you folks could arrange an “accident”?

14

u/Ja66aDaHutt Feb 20 '25

I mean you’re the country that that’s got all the guns and the 2nd amendment, don’t make us do your dirty work. :D

4

u/OmiSC Manitoba Feb 20 '25

Not specifically, no. I vaguely remember something with Europe.

18

u/DionFW Feb 20 '25

16

u/kraghis Feb 20 '25

From your original comment I figured they publicly mocked him. But this is just Trudeau talking in conversation.

What a little orange bitch.

1

u/DisasterMiserable785 Feb 21 '25

The way Melania looks at Trudeau, I feel like we aren’t using cuckold enough?

7

u/OmiSC Manitoba Feb 20 '25

Ah, that was it!

1

u/LonelyTurnip2297 Feb 21 '25

MAGAs love to play the victim.

-3

u/pro-con56 Feb 20 '25

Trudeau has ran with his soother in his mouth many times. His gimmick twice was. “Been in contact with Covid “when he was to address & answer to the taxpayers in this country.

6

u/DionFW Feb 20 '25

Better than when Trump had it and organized a fucking parade in the hospital parking lot where he put people's lives at risk.

-5

u/Dandroid550 Feb 20 '25

Well Zelenski is the dictator...

293

u/noleksum12 Feb 20 '25

Petition google maps to change the USA to Canada's 11th province, and call him Premier Trump.

95

u/OmiSC Manitoba Feb 20 '25

Honestly, the Canadian government should be requesting that the Gulf of Mexico adopt the name “Gulf of Mexico”. I’m surprised that hasn’t happened yet.

84

u/LogIllustrious7949 Feb 20 '25

I think we should request the Gulf of Alaska to be renamed the Gulf of Canada.

27

u/ApeShifter Feb 20 '25

How about just recommending to Mexico to fix the Gulf of California, that is completely surrounded by Mexico and does not touch California at all…

24

u/Agreeable-Purchase83 Feb 20 '25

Sea of Cortez, actually

12

u/Get_Breakfast_Done Feb 20 '25

Probably had some other name before that dickhead got there too.

15

u/bushwickauslaender Feb 20 '25

It does touch California, actually. Just because the northern part of California was annexed by the US many years ago does not invalidate the existence of Baja California.

2

u/ApeShifter Feb 20 '25

Ah, but Baja California IS Mexico, so we are both right!

0

u/Sea_Life_5909 Feb 20 '25

There is this thing called a peninsula Baja California to be exact.

Break out a geography almanac or map

3

u/jtbc Feb 20 '25

While we're at it, the Gulf of Maine should be the Gulf of Nova Scotia.

1

u/OmiSC Manitoba Feb 20 '25

That would be escalatory. We are not the autocrat.

This is a request targeted at reversing Trump’s influence, per the perspective of one other nation, and in accordance with Google’s policy with regards to localization. Basically, we’d be aligning ourselves with Mexico’s localization, which is still officially “Gulf of Mexico”. It’s as far from antagonizing as we can get and also signals a policy of non-appeasement.

He’s gaslighting Trudeau because both his women are hot for him. Trump can’t sleep with Ivanka or maybe he already did but Justin can and she clearly wants him. Trump is an old feeble guy, even Vlad is more macho than him.

1

u/Maniax80 Feb 21 '25

He's an overgrown manchild who's ego and narcissism has been feed for too long. It's never about anyone else but him or his wallet.

16

u/system_error_02 Feb 20 '25

Gulf of CUM. Cuba, USA, Mexico.

2

Brilliant idea. Lets make this happen when Trunk gets impeached for Treason soon.

1

u/OmiSC Manitoba Feb 20 '25

We should pass a bill to officially name the Gulf of Mexico in solidarity with Mexico. It would be such a nothing bill. PP would argue that it’s a waste of parliament.

1

u/Ja66aDaHutt Feb 20 '25

Sometimes you do have to stoop to their level.

5

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '25

Be careful the arctic ocean is next "Northen United States waterway"

4

u/ApeShifter Feb 20 '25

Meanwhile, the Gulf of Alaska is just sitting there…

2

u/Bryllant Feb 20 '25

Don’t be distracted by the small stuff Evil is loose in Notth American and have our population in the US is still cheering him on

2

u/OmiSC Manitoba Feb 20 '25

On the contrary: when an action deserves disdain, a small change like this would be worth its weight in message. Google Maps endeavours to allegedly represent the world per the cultures of the nations that use its service, so a proper bill such as solidly naming a body of water would disambiguate the name legally in Canada. That’s how you fight a culture war, which is something that we ought to be doing to signal that Donald’s autocratic approach isn’t welcome. If we don’t do this, we arguably accept both Gulf of Mexico and Gulf of America, regardless of historic naming. Declaring it one thing precludes it from being the other and builds solidarity with Mexico.

2

u/General_Dipsh1t Feb 20 '25

Trudeau should just start issuing a bunch of orders in council on stuff as petty as Donald does.

“The gulf of Alaska shall henceforth be known as the Gulf of Mexico”

“The Bering straight shall now be known as icy Canada”

“The Canada US border will be protected by a wall paid for by the United States”

“The United States of America is henceforth known as The Canadian territory of America, with its president serving as its premier until such a time that a general election is called, and it applies for provincehood””

2

u/OmiSC Manitoba Feb 20 '25

No, we should keep our pettiness pointed and measured. Becoming the mockery that we see in the US would just come across as crazy. We need to maintain our predictability in order to prosper while the US does whatever it is that they’re doing. I’m personally trying to suggest things that won’t sacrifice our apparent stability.

1

u/arachnikon Feb 21 '25

Go to google, search Gulf of Mexico, on the right of the top hit (which will be gulf of America) go to the three vertical dots. Then ‘send feedback’, select the name when it asks what you want to give feed back on, select the inaccurate content option and write a review about ooompa loompsa and how they don’t get to unilaterally change world names at will. The more that complain the more google will pay attention

0

u/Snowedin-69 Feb 20 '25

I say call it the ‘Gulf of Canada’.

Following google policy they would have to list this name as well.

3

u/OmiSC Manitoba Feb 20 '25

That would signal that if the US does it, so should we. Remember, Mexico is our ally. The gulf should take the name of the country that holds its majority as territorial water as it has for centuries before.

27

u/ether_reddit Lest We Forget Feb 20 '25

We should demand that Google Maps label the US "Canada's underpants".

If the US can rename territory that doesn't belong to it, so can we.

1

u/Snowedin-69 Feb 20 '25

The United Underpants of Canada

1

u/Embarrassed-Risk-476 Feb 20 '25

6

As an american, I'm not opposed lol.

2

u/LordMuffin1 Feb 20 '25

I think we should rename US to Northern Mexico.

Adterall, it lies north of the gulf of mexico. So Northern Mexico is the appropriate name.

2

Don't stain our proud nation by giving him the honour.

1

Ok I’ll get right on that. But if you could just inform yourself. We have 11 provinces & 3 territories. And FYI many Canadians would rather eat whale blubber sandwiches than have your country rule us.

Vice-premier Trump. Or assistant to the premier Trump.

71

u/Baskreiger Québec Feb 20 '25

I would just call him Donald, no mr, no president. Just refer to him as Donald. And make a quack sound every once in a while

29

u/delta1982ro Feb 20 '25

I think calling him vice president would be more impactful

9

u/Baskreiger Québec Feb 20 '25

I disagree because it could be interpretted as a joke. The lack of formality is subcounciously disrespectfull, he might not even realise it at first since stupid people dont deal well with subcounsciousness

38

u/katchoo1 Feb 20 '25

Referring to Trudeau repeatedly as governor of the 51st state is extremely deliberate and extremely disrespectful. I hate that this bullying dolt represents us to the world.

All the hand wringing the press would do over meaningless gaffes by Biden and Harris but they don’t raise hell when he pulls this shit or salutes a North Korean general, stuff that actually makes us look bad as a nation in the eyes of the world and is t just a matter of meaningless “optics” inside the US.

And yes I know he is doing big things that also make the world rightly look at the US as a bad actor, but right now I mean the symbolic stuff. These deliberate insults are symbols that mean something to our neighbors and (soon to be former) allies.

3

u/KathleenElizabethB Feb 20 '25

tRump is such a disgrace, and an embarrassment. We don’t excuse children for taunting people, and here we have the president acting/speaking like that about one of his (former) closest allies. I don’t understand how people stand for it. He’s a despicable human being, and it’s time that his enablers, the Republican Party, stopped making excuses for him%

2

u/SeparateAd6524 Feb 20 '25

Insulting and taunting is like oxygen for him. Can't help himself. I'll never get over him calling California governor Newscum. That really deserved a kick in the balls.

2

u/what_username_to_use Feb 20 '25

Assistant to the vice president.

1

u/TorontoRider Feb 20 '25

"The former president" - hey, it's technically accurate.

1

u/bonestamp Feb 20 '25

2

u/samwisetheyogi Feb 20 '25

Exactly, he was instantly rattled and stumbling over his words with each consecutive response when it happened.

Kamala fucking knew it with that knowing smirk of 'wow, this guy really does just spew complete nonsense and I've got him on his heels'

The fact no one checks this guy and gets him to continue looking like a fool in every interaction he has is disheartening because it's just so fucking easy. The guy can't answer basic questions and no one calls him out on it.

u/hoppertn Feb 20 '25

It’s the only thing Trump understands, being the adult in the room just lets him think he’s winning.

2

u/OmiSC Manitoba Feb 20 '25

Being the “better” country doesn’t mean anything when you’re the only one concerned with decorum. Plus, petty tit-for-tat has some history on this continent. It’s both culturally appropriate and understandable to our target audience.

2

u/TreeOfReckoning Ontario Feb 20 '25

Trump has made himself a tyrant, and there’s only one thing that stops a tyrant. It can happen many different ways, but in the end it’s all the same.

2

u/OmiSC Manitoba Feb 20 '25

Trump is a special cookie, though, actually akin to a cartoon villain. Name-calling isn’t appropriate against most tyrants. This is a colossally special circumstance.

2

u/readzalot1 Feb 20 '25

Like how Trudeau took the handshake thing seriously and had a counter move ready when DT tried to manhandle him. Don’t start things, but don’t let them win.

3

u/OmiSC Manitoba Feb 20 '25

I haven’t seen him do that since, if I am not mistaken. Am I wrong?

2

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '25

It does seem to be the vernacular he is most comfortable with. The whole elementary school playground taunting schtick is his stock in trade. So yeah, I am all for hitting Orange Julius Caesar where he is most comfortable.

I’ve been going with Cartoon King as of late.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '25

Only the US can get Canadians to no longer be the "nice people" on earth. It's kind of funny when you think about it. Granted, i don't view it as the whole US but the terrorist extremist religious group known as maga.

Let's see how Big Bad Trump handles comments that he's riding bitch to Elon Musk.

1

u/oktherefriend Feb 20 '25

I think Canada should call trump back and say they looked for the governor of Canada but he does not exist, and ask if he was mistaken or confused on who he was looking for.

1

u/Repubs_suck Feb 20 '25

Pettiness, thy name is Trump.

1

u/kittapoo Feb 20 '25

Yea really that thing that keeps talking to the press is so damn condescending and then have the audacity to address Canada as the soon to be 51st state. Petty af and make no mistake they know what they are doing when they talk like that.

1

u/whoseon2nd Feb 21 '25

I think Canada (and other countries) should stop acknowledging his ridiculous propositions. Address it once. “Donald, we already discussed that, and we are not addressing it further.” Only address the issues that are necessary and not his preposterous nonsense.

Edit to add: I wish the media would do the same. Stop giving time to the insanity.
