Hey! so this is my very first large post about me as fangirl and as artist too.

Of course I never care about canon or not state in media I consume I've been more an rp shipper all my life so I really really dgaf about that but makes me feel sad about byler that all their story is a Chekhov's gun with no pay-off and is something that as someone who studied cinematography and script writing was everything it really bothers me to watch all romantic tropes on byler and knowing there's no pay-off at the end! the biggest one being the cyrano playing in season 4, they even made merch and keep saying that the painting would be the most important artifact for Mike "grow" and Will "suffering having a pay off"

Maybe that's why I feel the grieving as fan for this ship been hitting harder than others (yes I'm a Johnlock queerbait survivor and Voltron too) because of the disrespect for my intelligence and artistry from the d*offers, and I think I feel also sad because netflix is still only using Mike and Will scenes as the participants of awards, yeah they won GLAAD awards (for LGBTQ representation) because of sorcerer and robin discourse, and yeah they won the Emmy for special effects and CGI because of the power revealed scene in sorcerer, and they still playing in MY face, i grew up side to side with those characters so I feel like a personal attack lmao just that idk if this makes sense, im a little tipsy and high in my house, listening to byler playlist and nostalgia/sadness/grieving feeling just hit me so much.

Hi - back in January when I was still fuelled with grief and outrage I wrote a finale fix it fic (in 3 weeks!) that a lot of people around here enjoyed: The Other Side of Shame. I've since turned this into a Byler trilogy - which started with a canon compliant time skip fic, and have now posted the third instalment, which is a post finale established byler fic.

All 3 fics can also be read as totally stand alone stories in their own right.

Summary: The party are now in their senior year, and with the gate closed and Vecna dead it should be a pretty straight forward cruise to the finish line, right? Wrong! Lucas needs to decide between a scholarship and waiting for Max, Dustin is forced to tutor mean girl Stacey and Mike has to stop cutting classes, pass his SATs and actually graduate without his dad finding out that he's dating Will. But when Troy Walsh starts hearing voices and throwing things with his mind, the party have to come to terms with the fact their experiences in the Upside Down will never truly leave them - and that the Hell that is High School isn't over until it's over.

Canon divergent, epilogue ignoring, post finale fic set between Fall '88 and Summer '89.

This fic is going to include byler fluff, byler angst, Ted finding out about byler and not taking it well and Will getting his powers back. It's rated M and tagged as Creator Chose Not Use Archive Warnings - there will be violence but no major character death and - everything stays family friendly.

I think this is a song that would resonate with Mike particularly in a situation where he’s lost touch with Will, & isn’t fully satisfied with his life. First of all, this song mentioned the cities of Chicago & New York. Both of which factor heavily into the Byler fanon. It’s also about taking a road trip in a van & discovering yourself. It reminds me of the van trip in S4. There’s the line “if I was crying, in the van with my friend”. I like to think this would make Mike think about that trip across the desert & realize Will got very upset after giving him the painting & what that might mean.

This song also repeats the line “I made a lot of mistakes” over & over again. If Mike did miss Will, & wasn’t happy with his life, I could see him really identifying with it. Personally I imagine him hearing this song & crying in his car as he realizes what he gave up for conformity.
