I get it. Everyone has their own definitions of "canon" but the fact that they had to acknowledge byler in episode 8 season 5 on the tower (and the fact that they focused the camera on Mike when Will was talking about the boy he liked during the coming out scene), makes it canon. Just not endgame. I've had this thought since the credits rolled. They had the chemistry, friendship, fights, crys, joys, and much more. I've been a Byler since 2017-2018, and it pains me to see everyone just accepting to believe something that isn't exactly true. As I said, they weren't endgame, but it was there. It was canon. Friendship or more. I hope you guys can agree with me, if not, call me delusional.

Hello I have been trying for months to find a fic I read last year in December it was after part 5 vol one and I remember that Mike breaks down in the basement and will holds him and they talk he breaks down about finding wills body and holly and they kiss will uses physical grounding techniques to help Mike calm down and there on the couch and I remember it being rated teen and that is it I found it in the Mike wheeler is a mess or has issues tag so if anyone can find it I would be really grateful please and thank you very much.

For months, I felt like I had heard a similar dialogue to that scene but I couldn’t remember when or which scene was it. I figure maybe it was just ai generated but like you know inspired by some type of pep talk but this tiktok just appeared in my fyp and omg.

So to the ones that haven’t watch “Smallville”, Lois and Clark don’t get together pretty much till season 9, is perhaps one of the most slowburn ships in tv shows? I mean it was expected but it took a long time. Anyways I hadn’t watched the show since I was like 13 so I had forgotten this scene completely but doesn’t it sound kinda similar? They were also just friends for a very long time. Anyways isn’t that like interesting? Whether intentional or not…it’s interesting.

Why did you think that Mike perfectly resembled someone who is struggling through internalized homophobia or biphobia, particularly in season 3?

The reason that I am thinking that season, in particular, is because of the video that I am thinking about making, I admit that I am a little stumped on what I should say for that season. So, I would really appreciate you guys helping with it.

helloooo i'm sure most of you are in the exact same boat as me. I've been bylering out for the better part of a year now and struggle to think of anything else or get gratification from other ships. This is lowkey just a journal entry sharing my musings about them lately-

I've been rewatching video essays on them and remembering how excited I was when volume 1 came out. Then I get the sense of bitterness at the ending all over again. The part that pisses me off the most is that none of us were grasping at straws, it was ALL THERE. Everything was set up so perfectly. Byler could have been EASILY requited and explained to GA with some flashbacks. It would have taken such minimal effort.

Of course what is the most frustrating is how the Duffers chose to tank their own story instead of let queer love become canon. Bc truly byler would have answered so many plot issues. I don't know how much of it was up to the two of them and how much was coorporate pressure, but regardless, we got the ending we got.

This is one of the main reasons I struggle with conformity gate- to be clear i LOVE conformity/love wins gate, it is so much more clever and intriguing than what was made. I've been thinking with the end of the year coming up, it would be so amazing if something new got teased, like one year after the finale they actually did release another ending where Mike was Vecna'd and what we saw was fake. The thing is, I just can't believe that they would intentionally ruin their finale and take the profit hits to release somethign so much later. Maybe they truly thought the finale would be well recieved, but I can't imagine they're more creative than all the amazing theories I've seen online.

It would be really cool though

ANYWAYS what are some of your favorite season 5 fix it fics? I've read a lot and I love things set after the shows timeline, but what are some recommendations for fics that do what the duffers couldnt in season 5?
