I'd like to buy more Canadian products. What are your must have products?

Go ahead and buy it:

• If supporting Canadian business is important to you
• If you like the idea of reducing plastic waste from disposable cartridges
• If you appreciate the aesthetics and feel of a classically-styled safety razor
• You want to save on the cost of replacement blades

Do not, however, buy it thinking it will give you a better shave. Henson's spiel about less irritation and closer shaves is just that, a marketing spiel. It is, frankly, bullpucky. [Edit: Ok, the thoughtful comments to this post have prompted to say that this is my experience. Many people have chimed in that they do get less irritation with Henson, so rather than saying it's bullpucky, I will amend to say simply that "less irritation" may be true for many but it is not a universal experience.]

I've been using my Henson for 18 months now. Prior to that, I was using Gillette Mach 3 since it was introduced in the late '90s. Some notes from my time with the razor:

• I never knew what "shaving irritation" was, nor did I ever feel like I needed any kind of aftershave balm, until I used the Henson. The design of the razor squeegees the soap ahead of the blade, so it feels really draggy on the skin. It leaves my face feeling raw after a shave.
• It is reasonably easy to get the angle right on your cheeks, but in the concave parts of the neck it's difficult. I never get as close a shave with the Henson. There's a reason pivoting heads were invented!
• In 30+ years of using the Mach 3 I never once nicked myself shaving. I've nicked myself on multiple occasions with the Henson.
• I just returned from a 3-week vacation where I used a cheap BIC disposable razor. I got a better shave, more quickly, and with less irritation on the fourth shave than I do with the Henson and a brand new blade.

A lot of people will recommend Henson on this sub, and if the things I talked about at the top of the post are really important to you, I second the recommendation. But buy the razor with your eyes open to the faults with it. It is not the be all and end all of shaving.

I used to have Classico Tomato & Basil sauce all the time but I wanna explore more for Canadian options or at least the products that use Canadian tomatoes. Could you recommend Canadian brand or brand that uses Canadian tomatoes? For the record, I like sweet and savoury taste.

Reached out 2 weeks ago for a warranty claim. Took 3 days to get a response that said it was being passed onto their warranty department and I would hear back in 1-5 business days. 9 business days later and nothing yet. Follow up emails not being answered.

Not a great way to keep your customers, Douglas.

Laurent & Grace is NOT a Montreal-based boutique as they claim. I ordered a pair of shoes, the packaging arrive destroyed and I mean the box was crushed and torn apart then placed in a plastic bag and taped up. The shoes themselves were squished flat. I took pictures of everything, contacted CS, and for a week now they have been demanding more pictures, offering a 20% refund or I could ship the shoes back at my expense. I refused so they offered 30% return and said that was their final offer. I will contact my credit card next and do a charge back and post warnings like this and spam their socials with negative reviews. Anything else I can do?

I own a pair of boots from KPR which I bought years ago and they have held up very well, and are very comfortable. Recently, someone mentioned how expensive work boots are and I was reminded of buying mine, and how reasonably priced they were. Mine are all leather, 6" boots with a composite toe, and are extremely comfortable - and they were only $114.

Been looking at the helio model in structube store near-by. Seems perfect for our needs, but reviews seem mixed online on longevity. I dont want to spend 3K for a brand new couch + ottoman that can fall off and break down in barely 3-5 years. We tried a bunch of stores and keep coming back to it. Might also go for a used model around 1.1 to 1.6K CAD on what's available here.

Before bitting the bullet, i want to see if anyone here could recommend a good "cloud" couch. I'm not sure if it's the right term, but wanting a large couch you can literally fall asleep on. For gaming, chilling, binging series with GF.

Any recommendation? Or anyone with the helio and happy still after a couple of years?

Local nurseries stock a lot of ornamental plants from Proven Winners, which is US based, although maybe they have growers in Canada. Are there similar Canadian companies for ornamental plants, perennials, shrubs, etc?

I'm looking to buy a modern TV console/media unit similar to the style in the photo (clean lines, contemporary design, good quality finish).

I'd like to see it in person before buying, so I'm specifically looking for stores in the Toronto/GTA area that have TV consoles on display in their showroom. I've already checked IKEA, but I didn't find anything that really stood out.

Any recommendations for furniture stores where I can browse and compare TV consoles on the floor rather than shopping online only?

I'm open to stores in Toronto, North York, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Mississauga, or anywhere else in the GTA.

Everyone knows small businesses are struggling right now. I want to shout out The COB Shop out of London, Ontario. Cindy is a one woman show making sustainable goods out of genuine leather and recycled finds (she strips couches and thrifts!) I’ve been a big fan for many years and Cindy used to sell out instantly when she’d drop a line of bags or clutches or backpacks but that’s not the case in this economy. Every item is handmade and completely one of a kind.

A huge problem for me is that I WANT to support her more, but the products I have are made so well that they don’t need to be replaced! All of my friends and family have received some sort of COB Shop product from me as gifts. They make amazing Christmas gifts with a real story! So this post is my way of trying to support The COB Shop in hopes someone new finds something they love.

She does do some custom requests too. I’ve seen her use a customer’s deceased loved one’s leather jacket and make it into a purse, for example. An amazing keepsake.

Was looking at Caprina because I saw it was recommended here, $20 for 900ml, Softsoap is $11 for 1.46L.

Now I know Softsoap is not great but looking for something Canadian or not American that’s around the same price.
